Casanova Talks About His Trip to Nigeria

New York rapper, Casanova traveled to Nigeria a couple of months ago to shoot his video, 2Am, which features Tory Lanez and Nigerian superstar musician, Davido. In his recent radio interview with The Breakfast Club show on Power 105.1 FM, he was asked by one of the hosts (DJ Envy) to talk about his trip to Nigeria, and he said...

"I think I learned a lot out there...just seeing the kids dancing, with no sneakers on and stuff like that. But they happy. The mothers, with nothing, happy. They made me kind of come back and appreciate myself. And stop complaining, cos I always complain a lot. I think I'm money hungry. So, I just be like, yo, I need this, i need this. But when you go to Africa and you see these people with way less than everybody has in America, happy, dancing, doing the dances, and just was just stunned, like...like how can you be happy?"

Clark Kent Speaks on How Jay Z and Biggie Met

I remember hearing a story back in the day that Jay Z and Biggie went to the same high school and had become close since then till they blew up on the hip hop scene. Even if they did attend school together, they probably weren't close, cos Jay Z was three years Biggie's senior. Back then, I believed this story, and I am sure a lot of rap music listeners also believe they were best of buddies because they made songs together, and did shows together. But after hearing Faith Evans say in recent interview that Jay Z and Biggie were not really close, I decided to do some research. I discovered that they always had a certain level of respect for each other, but never met till a mutual friend of their's, Clark Kent, introduced them at the recording session of Jay Z's Brooklyn's Finest song off Reasonable Doubt (1996), which featured Biggie.

Dej Loaf Speaks on The Day She Almost Died From Eating a Weed Brownie

There is different types of rappers in the game right now, and it seems the harmonizing rappers are popping right now. So, Dej Loaf is big right now. In this interview with Hot 97 radio, she narrated the story of an incidence where she felt like she might have died after eating a weed brownie. Read her words below.

She was asked by her interviewers what experience she could remember from her tour with Nicki Minaj some months back, and she said...

"I took an edible. I've...I had one before, it was a cupcake, but it wasn't as strong. We were out in Cali, so maybe that was the thing." She was asked if she ate the whole marijuana cake, and she said. " No. I just had a little corner. Just a little chunk, and it was kinda like the chunk of my life like...Never again! Never again." (Hot 97 Radio Interview)

Chance The Rapper Speaks on Effect of Having a Daughter on His Life

Chicago rapper, Chance The Rapper recently had a kid (a daughter named Kinsley) with his girlfriend. The 22 year old rapper is a first time father, and during his recent interview on Hot 97 Radio's Ebro in the Morning show, Ebro asked him how fatherhood has been for him so far, and he answered with...

"Yea, she's a month old and its...honestly, you know, it feels like the beginning of my life. I don't know if that's how it feels for you, but it feels like everything before this point in my life was like...was like one bullet point, you know. Like one thing in my life, and then every day since then has been a new bullet point. She grows really fast and she smiles, and...em! She looks at me in my eyes and you know, it's, it's...it.s...The meaning of life is the purpose of life, you know. And I mean, I am lucky to have experienced it at this age and at this time in my life. Cos, you know, I thought I knew how to love, but now I know how to love better and I understand em, my relationship with my mother better...and my relationship with my brother and my father better. Yea, it's just...it's, you know. It's the thesis of life, and I'm there, so I;m happy." (Hot 97 Radio Interview with Ebro)

Yea, having a baby makes a boy grow into a man. I am happy he is experiencing this early in life. I wish I had had a baby in my twenties. Heck, I still don't have a kid, and I am in my 30s, but I am working on it. Being around friends with with kids, I know it is a beautiful thing.

Sinbad Speaks About Twitter Haters

Veteran comedian, Sinbad was on the Breakfast Club Show recently and he was asked by Angela Yee what he felt about social media and the online community and he said...

"I don't care about social media and what you think about me. That's the most coward...that's like a gangster behind a keyboard. How are you going to sit there and dog me at your keyboard, well come to my show and tell me that...How are you gonna talk...I don't even know your name...JimmyJimmy067? You got a stupid avatar of a tiger? I ain't worried about you. Matter of fact, I don't know your name, you know mine. You follow me, I ain't follow you. And you tell me you don't like my comedy? Dude, why are you following? That's like somebody following you down the street...'I hate you! I hate you!' Then go home. Go home! Go home!'" (The Breakfast Club Interview)

Rick Ross Disses 50 Cent in New Interview

Yup! Rick Ross just dissed 50 Cent in a new Interview on Hot 105.1's The Breakfast Club show with DJ Envy, Angela Ye, and Charlamgne Tha God. You know Game and Ross have always been and will always be 50's most hated enemies, and that's because those are the guys he tried so hard to crush, but couldn't. So, what did Ross say about 50? Actually, it wasn't like he just dissed Curtis out of the blue. Actually (lol! Do you get what I am doing with this repetition?), one of Ross's employees sued him to court early this year, for the beating he got from Ross, after he stole some of the Boss's money. And a few weeks ago, the same employee was seen in pictures with 50 Cent on Instagram. So, during the course of this new interview, Charlamagne asked Rick Ross if he feels his beef with 50 Cent is that personal. And he answered with...

"Nah! I'ma be honest. It really ins't personal at all with me. I just feel homie (50 cent) a shallow weak dude. Ya dig? And you go to be shallow at this point...I'd probably be in my emotions as well if my first album was titled Get Rich or Die Trying and I filed bankruptcy. I guess his kidneys failed." (The Breakfast Club Interview)

Did you get the last line? 'I guess his kidneys failed.' Ross was trying to say...since 50 Cent has that Get Rich or Die Trying mentality, and he just filed bankruptcy, his kidneys must have failed...meaning he is Dying. You get?

Waka Flocka Blames Black People For the Way They Are Treated By Police

In his recent interview on Hot 97 radio show with Ebro, Waka Flocka talks about how black people's acts are the cause of why the police treat them badly. In the interview, he is basically saying, you are treated the way you portray yourself. He spoke about most African Americans from the ghetto posting all their illegal moves on social media, and being surprised when they get arrested. Waka has been off the hip hop scene for a while now, and I think it has worked out well for him, cos he seems a lot wiser now.

Papoose is Not Too Happy With His Core Fans Right Now

Papoose has always been that hardcore underground rapper, but he is trying to make some cool bread now that his wife, Remy Ma is home. In his recent interview on Hot 105.1's The Breakfast Club Show, he was asked what his fans thought about his new single (Michael Jackson), which features Remy Ma and Ty Dollar $ign, which is more of a commercial record, and not the normal hardcore stuff he usually put out there, and he said...

Did Modenine Diss his Hardcore Fans?

You can't talk about Nigerian Hip Hop music without mentioning Modenine; he is a pioneer in the rap music genre in Nigeria, and he is still  on the scene. Although he hasn't been able to successfully make any crossover hit songs, his hardcore fans still stick with him, and give him accolades at any chance they get. But it seems he is really tired of them dictating which path his career should go, considering the fact that they are just a very small portion of the population.

Read what he said about them below (during a recent interview on Bang Radio's Afrohits Show) and tell me if you think it was disrespectful towards his hardcore fans. During the course of the interview he was speaking on his attempts at making commercial songs (like the song with mo chedda- 'Whut You Want), and then he said...

Meek Mill Says Jail Helped Him

I guess that restriction to freedom in jail makes a lot of people rethink their lives and turn things around. For example, Prodigy went into jail skinny, and came out buff and super healthy, same with Ja Rule. MMG rapper, Meek Mill served 5 months in jail last year, and came home to turn a completely new leaf in his life. In this recent interview with The Breakfast Club crew on Power 105.1 FM, he detailed how jail helped him.

During the course of the interview, he was asked by DJ Envy and Angela Yee if jail helped him, and he said...

Chris Brown Speaks on his Time Spent in Jail

Chris Brown was in jail for a couple of months earlier this year, for violating his probation from the  case he caught in 2009 when he beat up Rihanna. In a recent interview with Billboard Magazine, he spoke on his time in jail.

"You know, jail isn’t a place of many creative spirits. But as far as my creativity, I put it on hold until I got out. Jail is more of a regimen and a structure. I’m more of a free spirit when it comes to creating music, painting and art. So when I got out, I was very excited to get into the studio. I didn’t have any ideas or concepts; they usually come as I go [in to record]. I was drawing and sketching most of the time, biding time."

It is the same with most artists that go to jail; Tupac said something similar. They are not motivated to be creative, but the solitude gives them time to think and reflect on what they really want to do when they get out. So, when they do get out, they head straight to the studio to work.

OJB Jezreel Speaks on Recent Car Accident

Ace Nigerian music producer, OJB Jezreel was involved in a near-death car accident some weeks ago. He was riding in a friend's car on the highway from Abeokuta to Lagos, when one of the car tires gave way, and the car turned over.

Read how he explained the cause of his recent car accident to Encomium Magazine below.

Young Buck Sends Word Out to G-Unit Haters

At Hot 97 Summer Jam a couple of months ago, 50 Cent pulled a surprise stunt by reuniting G-Unit on stage. Since that time, the whole crew has been building momentum...dropping song after song, and two days ago they dropped a 6 track EP titled The Beauty of Independence. The crew is still gearing up for release the a full length album and also a 50 Cent album before the end of the year. In a recent ThisIs50 interview with the whole G-Unit crew, Young Buck had some choice words for the people who might be looking for G-Unit's demise.

"Don't look for the downfall of G-Unit, cause you'll be looking for a long God damn time. You understand? But looking for the success of G-Unit you'll get what you want to see real quick. But looking for the downfall homie you gon' be stuck...Don't pray on our downfall or look for it. Look for the success. Look for the good music. Look for the positive energy. And that's what you gon' get. Because even if you ain't looking for it that's what you gon' get." (This Is 50 Interview)

T.I Speaks on What to Expect From 9th Album (Paperwork: The Motion Picture)

T.I still hasn't picked a date for the release of his 9th album, Paperwork: The Motion Picture, but he keeps giving us details on what to expect from it. Yesterday he dropped a new banging song titled, New National Anthem, which features Skylar Grey. I don't know if that is going to be on the album, but that is my favorite song from him this year. In his recent interview with Billboard, he gave some info on what to expect from him with this album.

Jack Thriller Says He Feels Suge Knight is Trying to Kill Him

If you don't know Jack Thriller, you are on a long thing. lol! Dude is the funny ass guy that works at 50 Cent's ThisIs50 website, and does a lot of interviews with celebrities. He is also a comedian, and battle rap enthusiast. In this latest interview with HHDX, Thriller recalls a phone conversation he had with Suge Knight which makes him have the impression that former Death Row Records boss is trying to kill him.

Speaking on why he feels Tupac is still alive, he delved into a phone call he received from Suge Knight a few months ago. Have a good laugh...

'Hey, Suge called me about two months ago. No bullshit. I swear to God, he called me. I had a bad-ass little thot over at my house. We was kicking it and shit, and the phone rings, and I say, “Hey, what’s up?” He’s like, “Hey, this Suge.” I’m like, “Suge, who?” He said, “The Suge. Who you think it is?” I said, “Suge Knight?”  He was like, “Yeah, this Suge Knight.” And he sound like the motherfucker that I had heard on TV for a long time. I’m like, “Aw this is Suge Knight on my phone.” He must’ve seen my Tupac interviews. So I’m trying to stay hard on the phone and whatnot. I don’t know what he wants from me, ‘cause there was one interview that I had said, “Yeah, I think Suge killed Tupac.” I thought that’s what he was calling me about, [and I thought] he was gonna kill me. He was right outside my door, and I got one of them apartments where it’s only one way in and one way out. So while I was on the phone with him, I would put mattresses and dressers and stuff by the door.'

Lol! And it gets funnier...

'I asked him, “Yeah, what’s going on, man? How you doin’?” And he was like, “Yeah, I wanna catch a meeting with you.” And I say, “Where you at?” He said, “L.A., over by the Staples Center. Let’s go and get lunch tomorrow.” I said, “In the daytime? OK, cool. That’s cool. Man, look I can meet you over by this police station that’s not too far away from the W Hotel if you wanna go over there and have this meeting and stuff.” And then he was like, “A’ight, we can do that.” I told him I had to check my schedule tomorrow and hit him back.” We never got together, ‘cause I never could get over the fact that I think he might be trying to kill me—especially if he asked me if I needed a ride to the place and whatnot. That’s a person that you don’t want to take that last ride with. Can you imagine me in the same place ‘Pac was, looking out the window like this? That’s the last shot and you see me with him in the driver’s seat. I’m not getting in the car with Suge. I’m gonna meet him there.'

Charlamagne Tha God Speaks on Why People Snitch

A snitch, from my point of view is someone who tells on his friends and accomplices to reduce his prison sentence, or stay out of jail completely. Radio personality, Charlamagne Tha God, during his recent VLad TV interview, took time to speak on why he feels people snitch. Check out his words below.

“What you think snitching is, man? Mothafuckas always say what they won’t do until they get into a situation and the judge give you forever. You gon’ be in jail forever. 100 years, life, whatever. You sitting in that cell, you like—You thinking about your kids. Imagine your kid is eight-years-old and the judge say you got a 50-year life sentence. You gon’ be dead. But just for hypothetical purposes, you serve your 50 years. Your child gonna be 58 [years-old]. Your child gonna be a great-great-granddaddy when you come home? [Nobody] trying to feel that, man. A lot of guys talk that talk, ‘Oh, I’m a G. I’m a standup dude. I’m not gonna do this. I’m not gonna do that.’ Yeah, that might work when somebody says five years. That might work when somebody says 10. You start talking about forever…Average guy gets that kinda pressure put on them? ‘Sorry nigga, I’m trying to come home.’ They telling. It’s going down. Give them the opportunity to tell, they tell. Period.”

Hmm! He is making some valid point.

Meek Mill Gives Details on Second Album- Dreams Worth More Than Money

MMG rapper, Meek Mill is currently working on his second album, which would likely drop end of the year, or early 2015. The album is titled Dreams Worth More Than Money, and the confirmed guest appearances off the album are Big Sean, and A$AP Ferg. During his interview with Miss Info last night before the BET Awards, Meek Mill gave some info on his sophomore release.

“Alright, let me tell you real details. Meek Mill is on a whole other level. I don’t like to talk from my perspective, ‘cause everybody gon’ say, ‘My next project hot, this is my best project.’ I’m 27 now, my last project I was 25. And really, I was kind of caught up. I just started making millions of dollars. Rap wasn’t like my main focus, I was focused on getting my family out the streets and having a lot of money. You know, I accomplished part of that and now it’s fully back to being fully an artist. I got me,Big Sean, A$AP Ferg shooting a video Monday, something off the album. Me and Big Sean did the ‘Burn,’ you know how that was. It was a lyrical attack. Me and him going back and forth, having fun. It’s kind of the same thing, it ain’t even no hook on it. It’s me, him, and Ferg. Ferg is sounding like you never heard Ferg sound...It’s called ‘B-Boy.’ Then, it got like a transition into it, me and Pharrell working on something.”

It's good to see he is excited about the album. And it is also good that he wants to focus more on his craft as an artist now, and not on money. Further along in the interview, he also spoke on a Nas collaboration he is planning for this album. He had one (Maybach Curtains) from his last album already and is thinking of getting another Nas collab? Hmm!

Speaking on songs he is working on off the album, he detailed a song he is trying to get Nas on.

“I got one that’s a true Hip Hop song that I’m putting Nas on. It’s true Hip Hop. Lyricism. It’s Nas on it. I think it’s a sampled beat that sounds sort of like Scarface when you think of the movie. I’m waiting to get Nas in the studio any day. When he get in the studio I know he gon’ love it, Nas ain’t gon jump on it if he don’t love it.”

Kendrick Lamar Gives Some Info on Upcoming Album

Since he dropped his masterpiece (Good Kid, Mad City) in 2012, a followup album from Kendrick Lamar has definitely been highly anticipated by the Hip Hop community. And Kendrick has been heightening the anticipation by being tight-lipped with information about his sophomore release. Every interview he does, he just gives a tit bit info on the album, and lives people guessing what is coming, and when. In this recent interview with Texas radio station, 93.7 (The Beat's Devi Dev), he was asked how he felt about his last album being labeled a classic, and how he would live up to that with his followup. He answered with...

"That felt crazy. I don't take that word ['classic'] lightly. I know the excitement. They really appreciated. I respect it 100 percent because I put a lot of work into it. I really can't focus on the past and what was said then. You're only as good as your last piece of work, so now it's about what's right now and me putting that same 110 percent that I did with the last one."

Personally, I feel he's taking too long to drop a followup to GKMC. By October, it will be two years since he dropped the album, and there is no release date for his second album yet. No new single, and even his guest appearances on others works is slowing down. He needs to keep his name out there. Well, I trust his die-hard fans, I think they call themselves Kendrick's Sons on twitter or something like that. I trust them to ride with him to the end, but the rest of us that appreciate his music from a distance need something new from him to prove he is really that good.

Charlamagne Says Gangsters Will Eventually End up in Prison

There is this fascination most hip hop listeners have with gangsters, trapsters, and rappers that claim to be about that life. These listeners call the gangsters the REAL rappers, and they call the rappers like Wale and Drake (that live normal lives), fake rappers. Popular Radio personality, Charlamagne Tha God spoke on this recently. He says there are consequences for all actions, and as long as a rapper wants to be a gangster, and be about that street life, he would eventually end up behind bars.

He was actually being interviewed on VLad TV, and was asked what he felt about Gucci Mane being back in Prison till 2016, and he said...

“When you about that life, that’s what happens. You end up in jail or dead. I don’t care if you rapping. I don’t care if you trapping. I don’t care what you doing. If that’s the life you choose to lead, it’s eventually gonna catch up to you. I don’t understand why brothers can’t understand the fact, or even just accept the fact, you can still be a man without having to commit crimes. That actually is a problem. Everybody wants to be a goon, thug, hood nigga, real nigga. Just be a man. Be a real man. It’s cool. Real men know how to move as real men. Real men won’t allow themselves to be disrespected. Real men aren’t punks. But when you wanna do that goon, thug shit: pop pills, drink lean, ride around with guns, all that other shit knowing that you ain’t supposed to be moving like this—especially if you’re on probation—this is what happens. These are the consequences of your actions. Don’t feel sorry for him, at all. Hate to see brothers go to jail on any level unless they really doing some serious shit. But he caused that on himself."

Isn't this so true? I keep wondering why rap listeners are so fascinated with people that claim to be killers, and drug dealers. Why are you so thrilled about 40 year old men snatching each other's chains and posting it on social media? Does a rapper have to be a goon, or a gangster banger to be considered dope? I just don't understand. I guess I am getting old. I have listened to Hip Hop since the early 90s, and I witnessed the transition, from then to now. I don't know where people got stuck on the idea that you have to be about that street life to be respected.

ScHoolboy Q Not Happy With Oxymoron Reviews

ScHoolboy Q released his third album (first major label album) in February, and it has done moderately well in the sales department, moving over a quarter of a million copies to date. But, Schoolboy Q seems not so happy with the reviews the album got when it dropped four months ago. In a recent interview with ACCLAIM, he voiced his frustrations on the matter.

"I spent a fucking year putting together Oxymoron, and these reviewers have figured it all out and made up their minds about it the day after it was released? Come on, man. I poured my heart and soul into this thing. You can’t tell me you absorbed it all after one or two listens."

Personally, I like his delivery/flow on most of the songs off the album, but the lyrics didn't really do it for me. So, maybe that's the same problem most of the individuals and corporations that reviewed his album felt too.
