Ty Dolla $ign Details Working With Lupe Fiasco

West coast singer/producer, Ty Dolla $ign did the hook for Lupe Fiasco's new single, Next To It. The song is the first single off Lupe's upcoming fifth album, Tetsuo & Youth. In a recent interview with Complex Magazine, Ty spoke on his unforgettable working experience with Lupe.

“He’s definitely in my Top 10 now. I don’t know why I wasn’t paying attention but after I did that song with him. I’ve done songs with a lot of people right? This nigga right here, me and Shafiq did the beat, he gave me an idea for the hook, I went in and did the hook, and then he went in the booth and just spit the whole fucking song, dog. I promise you it was off the top of the head, no written. The whole song. Probably went back and changed like two fuck-ups. I’ve never seen that done before. Lupe is that guy.”

Lupe Fiasco Names Rappers Better Than Kendrick Lamar

Kendrick Lamar gets brought up in a lot of hip hop debates, and you have to give it to the guy as one of the best rappers of this new generation. So, Lupe Fiasco was being interviewed on Hot 97 FM by Paul Rosenberg recently, and Rosenberg asked which new rappers he listened to. And he named a few rappers...including Young Thug, and Big Krit. Rosenberg, being the biggest Kendrick Lamar Stan on the planet, asked Lupe if Kendrick makes his list, and Lupe said...







 "I've always been a fan of Kendrick. I'm not a nut-hugger like you...Listen, Kendrick is ill. He's super ill. To me, the whole TDE team is the illest team. They're the illest team that I've seen in maybe 5 years. Ab-Soul's on the album. That's my homie...I'm trying to work with SZA right now...I love the creative collective they got. As an emcee, I wish I had that. Lyrically, no, I don't think Kendrick Lamar is the best. To me, MF DOOM is the best."






Hahaha! Good one, Lupe. This Paul Rosenberg is an annoying Kendrick stan. He is almost like a female in love or something. Of course I like Kendrick, but I don't rub that in people's faces all the time. Anyway, the interview continued, and Lupe was asked to name rappers he feels are better than Kendrick, and Lupe answered with...




"On some lyrics, I listen to lyrics, of the young emcees, I think lyrically, it's it's King Los, it's Logic...Cassidy. Lyrically? Stop playing with me." 



Well, I do feel Lupe and Kendrick are on the same level lyrically, but I think Kendrick is better than Cassidy. Cassidy has one flow, and hasn't grown much since the mid 2000s. King Los is a problem for sure.

Lupe has 4 Ferrari's- A blue 1986 Ferrari 412, a Ferrari 465 GTA, a Ferrari 575M ($220,000), and a Ferrari 400i ($35,000). He also owns a 2000 Mercedes Benz SL 500 ($15,000), a Black Jeep ($25,000), a Black 2011 twin-turbo Chevrolet Camaro ($30,000), a Ford Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe replica, and a 1967 Austin Healey 300 MK replica.

Lupe Fiasco Calls Kendrick Lamar A Little Baby

A couple of days ago, a Big Sean song was released on the internet, and it had verses from Kendrick Lamar and Jay Electronica. On Kendrick's verse, he said some really controversial things that has got a lot of people talking. Asides from putting himself in the same league with some of the greatest rappers in Hip Hop (Jay Z, Nas, Eminem, Andre 3000), he called himself the King Of New York (he is not from New York, or even from the East Coast). He also named rappers like J.Cole, A$AP Rocky, Drake...and a list of other rappers he called his homeboys, but said this was Hip Hop, and that he is trying to murder them. Since the track dropped, a lot of rappers from Joell Ortiz to Fred The Godson have dropped response tracks. Lupe Fiasco also dropped his response, and on it, he had a line where he referred to Kendrick Lamar as a  little baby.

Lupe Fiasco Speaks On Grammy Nomination

The 55th annual Grammy Awards is slated for February 10th, and Lupe Fiasco has come forward to speak on the category he was nominated in. The results will be known 2 days from now, on Sunday night, but Lupe is convinced he wont win. His "Food & Liquor 2" album was nominated for Best Rap Album, against, Drake's "Take Care", Rick Ross's "Good Forgives, I Don't", Nas's "Life Is Good", 2 Chainz' "Based On A T.R.U Story", and The Roots "Undun."

"Every album since Food & Liquor, my first official release, has been nominated for Best Rap Album at the Grammys," he said, denying that he will win. "No. Clearly I won't. Nas, Rick Ross, 2 Chainz and The Roots. Ah yeah, it is Drake? Forgot about it.

"I think they'll give it to Nas," he continued. "I think they'll give it to Nas, to be honest." (Jenny Boom Boom Interview)

Personally, I think it would go to either Drake or Nas. I would love it to go to Nas, cos he has never won a Grammy, and this album really deserves it. I don't know, it might just go to The Roots.

Lupe Fiasco Removed From Live Perfomance for Dissing The U.S President, Barack Obama

Apperently, there was a pre-celebration of the U.S Presidential Inauguration that went down yesterday. That pre-celebration was held on Sunday, and the organizers made the biggest mistakes of booking Lupe Fiasco to perform. Lupe has always been one to speak his mind, and never one to shy away from controversy. And for years, he has shown his dislike for Obama, that's why I was surprised that he was booked for the Sunday concert that went down at Hamilton Live in Washington D.C. After Lupe repeated a very controversial part (aimed at Obama) of his Words I Never Said song for over 30 minutes, he was escorted off stage by security guards.

He made sure he got his word across. Below are the lyrics from the song he performed repeatedly...

The main issue is that America as a whole has always been enemies of the Arabs, and Obama is just carrying on tradition. But the thing is that Lupe Fiasco is a Muslim...and he is also currently dating an Arab girl. So, it is understandable why he doesn't like Obama.

Official First Week Sales of Lupe Fiasco's "Food & Liquor 2"

Lupe Fiasco's Food &  Liquor 2: The Greatest American Rap Album Part 1 dropped last week, and after a full week in stores, it sold 89,000 copies in its first week out. This is Lupe's 4th album; his last album, Lasers (2011) sold over 200k first week, but that had a radio friendly single with Show Goes On.

First Week Sales Predictions of Lupe Fiasco's "Food & Liquor 2"

This is going to be Lupe Fiasco's 4th album since his debut in 2006 with Food & Liquor. This is a sequel, and it was meant to be a double disc, but he has decided to divide the release dates, and drop the second disc sometime in Dec. This one is set to drop tomorrow (Sept 25), and the full title is Food & Liquor 2: The Great American Rap Album Part 1.

I usually don't like when rappers have long titles, or complex names for their albums, but being a Lupe fan, i am cool with this one. I predict the album would sell between 85-135k first week. His last album, Lasers dropped last year, and sold 204,000 copies first week, but it had a better buzz than this one. The singles (Around My Way, Bitch Bad, Lamborghini Angels...) that have dropped from this album just ain't hot enough. As i said, i am a fan of his music, but i am just saying he isn't appealing to a greater audience with this one. His last two albums had big first singles (Superstar, and Show Goes On), this one doesn't.

Lupe Fiasco just revealed the tracklist of his 4th album, Food & Liquor 2: Great American Rap Album Part. 1. I have been a Lupe fan since I heard his verse on Kanye West' Touch the Sky single in 2005, and have followed his career thus far. If I ever need a substitute for listening to Nas, I always have Lupe. That is not to take anything away from him, but to show how great a catalogue he has been able to build in the 7 years he has been on the scene.

Lupe Fiasco Speaks on Food & Liquor 2

I have been a Lupe Fiasco fan ever since i heard Him on Kanye's Touch The Sky (2005) track, off the Late Registration album. 3 albums, and 7 years later, this man has not disappointed me once. His debut, Food and Liquor had that Illmatic feel; flawless verses back to back...Second album, The Cool was just out of this world...Lasers was a more politically conscious Lupe, mixed with some feel good songs...Lupe Fiasco just confirmed that his 4th album, Food and Liquor 2 will be a double CD and the first single would drop on May 2nd, but the album release date is not official yet.










"Food & Liquor 2 is the follow-up, the sequel to my first album Food & Liquor. This is my fourth album, and this is actually a part one and part two, it’s a double album. With this record, I wanted to go back to the essence of what made that record so special, the frame of mind I was in when I did Food & Liquor the first time," he explained. "It’s the Lupe Fiasco I want to be, without the industry constraints, without the trying to please the hardcore fans or get the new fans. It’s just what I would do for myself if nobody ever heard it. This is the kind of music I would make. It’s a masterpiece. It’s real fucking good."







"There’s a joint on there called ‘Form Follows Function’ that is a monster. It’s a monster. Nobody’s fucking with that, I just put that out there. Lupe Fiasco Says He's The Best Rapper Right Now

Lupe Fiasco performed at a University of Illinois Show last week, and in a freestyle he dropped, he claimed to be the best rapper in the game right now. Read what he said below-

"When you're done Watching The Throne, turn around and watch me, when you're done with Tha Carter IV come back to me for more, when you're done with that Drake, no, I ain't trying to hate but I'm back up on my grind and I'm about to skaaaaate on these n*ggas....Put it on your blog and your Tumblrs on your Twitters that Lupe said that he's the best, n*gga!" I love this...i love when someone is so confident, and lets the world know it. Right now, even if he wasn't so sure about what he said, he would go back and make sure he works on getting better everyday so that he can back what he said up. Personally, i think Lasers is the best rap album to drop this year so far, and if you look at Lupe's craft, and his versatility on the album, you would agree with me that he has the right to claim greatness. Who else can actually rap, rhyme, keep his lyrics deep, and yet easy to follow...who else can get political on an album, and still make people that don't like stuff like that bump their heads to the music? Nobody right now...nobody right now is keeping it as real as it gets, and still getting mainstream audience.

You might want to say Drake...but, bar for bar, Lupe would shit on drake. Drake is a good rapper, and his talent as a singer further amplifies his total package, but, i repeat- bar for bar, rhyme for rhyme, lupe would kill him. Okay, you might want to mention Lil Wayne. Lil wayne is a crazy rapper...a crazy rapper that is good with metaphors...that's it. I have to give it to him for how much of those metaphors he comes up with in every verse...he just keeps them coming. But as much as it feels great to hear, maybe on a verse, hearing that on a whole album, and knowing that's it...that's all there is, can be tiring. He's artistry isn't versatile enough. Can wayne tell a story that would last more than 8 bars, without jumping off to another topic. But i do respect his work ethics...second to none...and that is why he is where he is.

And lets talk about Kanye and Jay-Z. If you have listened to the Watch The Throne album, you would definitely know that Jay wasn't at his best there. There were some songs where he was great, but on most of the tracks, you would notice that he was just aii...nothing super lyrical. And kanye...kanye is cool, but he is more into the humor rap, and making a great song, and not really being a great rapper.

Please note that i have left the greats like Nas, and Raekwon out of this argument. I was only focusing on the mainstream rappers, and i am sure that is where Lupe Fiasco has his lens as well.

Why Lupe Fiasco Called Obama The Biggest Terrorist

Several weeks ago, rap artist Lupe Fiasco called The President of The United States of America the Biggest Terrorist. The comment raised many eye-brows, and lupe gave his reasons for saying that; you can read it up here- lupe fiasco calls obama the biggest terrorist . But I was not satisfied with what he gave as reason; I knew his comment came from a deeper place than that.

Last month, I got his latest album on my phone, and I started really listening to him, and studying him generally. I must say, his Lasers album is the best Hip Hop album I have heard this year. Apart from the lyrical complexity he displays on the album, his political consciousness was very evident on it. There are songs like state run radio, all black everything, break the chain, , and words i never said where he becomes an activist with his words; whether for the black race or just the ill-treated and oppressed majority in the society. He delivers with a double-edged sword style; one side attacking the oppressors and the other uplifting the oppressed.

One song stands out, which tackles the root of the issue with Barack Obama- words i never said , he mentions Obama's name directly...Gaza Strip was gettin bombed, Obama didn't say shit
That's why I ain't vote for him, next one either….

Gaza strip is the part of Palestine that borders with Israel; the part Israel bombs on a consistent basis…almost like they are doing target practice with the place. The war there is both a religious and tribal war. Israel was giving the portion of land they currently occupy in 1948, and the place had always been occupied by the Palestinians, so, you can see that there is a problem there. And, the Israelites are Jews, while the Palestinians are Moslems. 

Coincidentally, I watched this movie in-between writing this article- Valley of the Wolves: Iraq, and it depicts Israelites as irrational, ruthless, power hungry people that would like to wipe out all the Palestinians if given the chance. You see, I had never heard this side of the story before. Most of the general population of the world get their news about the world from CNN, so maybe we don't know what is really going on. This is a rap blog, and I am not very politically inclined myself, so I would just stop here. I just wanted to bring out the point that Lupe Fiasco’s real reason for calling Obama the biggest terrorist is/was because he is a Moslem, and Obama and the U.S in a whole are against Moslems…or , put in better context, Arabs all over the world. I think Lupe is putting Obama in a tight corner, because i think he is just one man in a democratically run country; even though he is the president, his decisions are still really based on what the people want, and what the people want, or what they think they want is based on the president before Obama made them believe they want.

In his Lyrics on the WORDS I NEVER SAID song, when he said Gaza strip was getting bombed, Obama didn't say shit…he was referring to Obama as a senator, before he ran for President in 2008.  On that same song, he says- Jihad is not holy war, where's that in the worship?
Murdering is non-Islam and you are not observant ('servant ...)
And you are not a Muslim…- 

It is clear that Lupe is re-educating the world on what they have been taught to believe. Personally, I see no difference in the people that bomb back the people that bomb them, so you can say I am on the fence…I have always been on the fence on issues like this. I like to be very logical, and I know no one would bomb a place unless they have been attacked one way or the other by the people of that place. This whole war with U.S and the Arab countries would continue until the two parties learn to respect their individual values, and just leave each other alone. Arabs should live the U.S with the way of life which they consider immoral, and the U.S should leave the Arab's oil alone. When that happens, we would have a peaceful world…at least until something else comes up.

Lupe Fiasco Begins Work on 3rd Album- Food & Liquor 2

Lupe's Laser's album which dropped earlier this year is still on my album playlist, and i bump it almost every day. I got the album late, so i am just now getting to really listen to it. I love it, and think it is a masterpiece. He has now let the word out that he is working on a new album, which would be the sequel to his first album (food & liquor). His new project would be titled Food & Liquor 2. I hope he doesn't have any problems getting this one out like he did with the Lasers album. If you didn't know, 200,000 of his fans had to sign a petition against Atlantic Records for holding back the Lasers album

Read what he had to say about the album below-

“It's really taking the lessons I learned from Lasers, and applying that to Food & Liquor [2]. That's really it,” he said.
“Me being an artist, I'm never happy with my work, because I don't ever think it's finished. It's hard for an artist to walk away from a piece and say, 'okay, that's done.'"

So, let us start the countdown till when this would drop. But, i think it would probably drop sometime in 2012. Maybe around this time.

Prodigy Backs Lupe Fiasco in Obama Terrorist Comment

Some days ago, Lupe Fiasco called the U.S President, Barack Obama, the Biggest Terrorist there is- well, i don't know his reasons, but you can read up that story over herelupe fiasco calls obama the biggest terrorist- Now, Prodigy (one half of the rap group, Mobb Deep) has come forward to back Lupe on the issue. Prodigy says he can't be fooled by all the politicking, and that he knows what is really going on. Read what he had to say below-

"I would have to agree with him," Prodigy said referring to Fiasco's comments. "Most of these politicians and these government officials...most of them are the real terrorists...I was definitely checking [Obama] out and seeing what he was doing and what he was about [while locked up]...But I already knew ahead of time - I've been studying all that type of stuff since like 15, 16 years old, so... You can't pull the wool over my eyes. I already know what time it is...There's nothing you can say to confuse me about any of that type of stuff. I know it's all a game that they're playing. It's all a facade." (Hip Hop DX)

As i said in my post on the lupe issue with obama, this rappers are not coming out with the legit reasons why they think he (obama) is a terrorist. I gave my own reasons why, but i wasn't focusing just on obama, but the whole system. You can read that up on the link above.

Lupe Fiasco Defends his Comments About Obama

A couple of days ago, Lupe Fiasco called current U.S President, Barcak Obama the biggest terrorist. That got him a lot of hate attention and he has come up again to defend his words, and say he isn't going back on them. Below is what he had to say about his comments on Obama-

"I've got nothing to clarify. It's Obama and the U.S. government," Lupe said, echoing his comments to CBS. "[It's] every president that came before him and every president that comes after him...It's funky because everybody's pulling soundbites from this one interview that we did, but they don't talk about anything else from the interview. So it's really about, 'What do people want to listen to?' It's not what I want to talk about, cause I want to talk about all types of sh*t... there wasn't the same reaction about me having a book club... about me trying to promote literacy in a country with 50 million functioning illiterates walking around, because we have a failed and flawed education system." Fiasco also elaborated on his personal decision not to exercise the freedom to vote.
"Voting doesn't work, because everybody who voted, voted for the same people who are in office right now that are actually allowing these policies to go forward... You have to educate the populace -- the masses, the voters, the people who don't vote, the people who pay taxes." (Billboard)

Well, as i said before on my previous post on this matter, i think everybody has a right to comment and say what is on his or her mind, and i have my own personal reservations on this matter, but i don't totally get where lupe fiasco is coming from. From my point of view, i think the U.S government are just as much terrorist as the people they are fighting. First of all, i feel if you don't have any dealings with these people, you can actually co-exist, but it is clear that the U.S has always been interested in their Oil, and these people feel terrified by the presence of the Americans, and sometimes take actions with the notion that they are being terrified by these people (the Americans) on their land...to them, it is like they are fighting the terrorist off. Even if they blow up themselves to send a warning to the U.S, the Americans also retaliate and create their own terror; so tell me, who is right? This is just my own thoughts on the matter.

And on another note, their is something i have learnt from my 2 years study of mental science, and how the brain and mind works. And that is- what you resist persist. If they keep starting up anti terrorist programs, and killing one terrorist leader or the other, they are giving their attention to that, and they will keep getting more of that. I am 30 years old, and since i can remember knowing anything, the U.S government have always been fighting one terrorist or the other. Thy just killed Osama Bin Laden, or so they say, and they took to the streets to celebrate, but do you know how many people have died since them? Of cos they don't really care, because those people are not Americans.

Lupe Fiasco Calls Obama a Terrorist

Chicago rapper, Lupe Fiasco recently made his point clear that he thinks Obama is the "biggest terrorist". Personally, i have my own view on this issue, but i would like for you to first read the story, then i will come in with my analysis.


Lupe Fiasco doesn't hold back when it comes to sharing his opinions. He recently told CBS News' "What's Trending" that he considers President Obama "the biggest terrorist", explaining that his actions have a trickledown effect and cause others to engage in acts of terrorism.

"To me, the biggest terrorist is Obama in the United States of America," he said. "For me, I'm trying to fight the terrorism that's actually causing the other forms of terrorism. The root cause of terrorism is the stuff that the U.S. government allows to happen, the foreign policies that we have in place in different countries that inspire people to become terrorists. And it's easy for us, because it's really just some oil that we can really get on our own."

The Chicago, Illinois native explained that he keeps a distance from politics and doesn't vote. "I don't vote. I don't get involved in politics. Because it's meaningless, to be honest. First of all, I'm a real big believer if I'm going to vouch for someone, I'm going to stand behind everything they do," he continued. "If I'm going to say I stand behind this person and write on a piece of paper that says I stand for this person, then I have to take responsibility for everything that he does. Because that's just how I am as a human being. Politicians aren't going to do that, because I don't want you to bomb some village in the middle of nowhere."

The "Show Goes On" rapper explained that his form of social responsibility is through helping others. "Charity and being socially responsible is a responsibility for everyone. We're human beings, we're tribal creatures in a group. That's where we survive. That's the nature of our kind of existence. So you definitely have to have a responsibility for other people that around you, to see them succeed and what have you, or just to see them do better. I think that's beyond me being an artist." Well, everybody has his own opinion, but me personally, i don't totally agree with him totally. I know he is going to get a lot of negative attention for this statement; bad press or good press, all is good for attention, but i don't want to believe that is Lupe Fiasco's reason for making this statement. I know he has always made it known that he doesn't support and didn't vote for Obama, but i have really been trying to get his point or reason for that, but i have not been able to understand. Maybe if i was residing in the States, i would understand better.


Personally, after studying for 2 years, the way the mind works, i can tell you that what ever you give your  most attention, good or bad, you would get more of it in your life. So, as long as the American Government keeps giving all their attention to terrorist, they will keep getting more of that. That is my short and precise analysis.

I think the way i would say Obama is the biggest terrorist is linked to his recent move of bringing up the death of Osama Bin Laden. Because, truthfully, osama didn't just die- it is either he has been dead before that date, or he is still alive somewhere. But, just check out how many terrorist acts have been perpetrated since Osama  Bin Laden was declared dead by the Americans. See what has happened since Obama declared Osama dead for his own selfish reasons of gaining popularity in the eye of the common American.

I have seen this happen all my life since i was a kid, and it would continue to happen, and no anti-terrorist program would wipe out terrorism until people learn that you don't quench fire by adding more fire to it; you have to add water, and that is one thing the American Government wouldn't want to do.

Really, all we need is love in the world.
