This Week's Highest Selling Rap Albums On Billboard Top 200 Album Chart

As expected, Jay-Z is at the top this week. His 12th studio album, Magna Carta Holy Grail sold 527,000 copies first week. These are numbers for the CD's physical sales, asides from the one million digital copies he sold to Samsung Mobile. This are huge first week numbers for someone that has been in the game for 18 years. But I am not surprised, cos the hype around the album was just incredible. And asides from that, Jay has been known to sell 400-600k first week with most of his past albums. This is his 10th solo number 1 album; it's only his first two albums (out of his 12 album catalogue) that didn't debut at number one on Billboard.

Kanye West's Yeezus Album Debuts at Number 1 in the U.K

Kanye's 6th album, Yeezus dropped in the states on June 18 (last week Tuesday), but albums drop earlier in other parts of the world, so the first week sales of Yeezus in U.K is out. Yeezus sits at the number one spot on album chart in the U.K this week, with 25,000 copies sold.  Considering the fact that 300,000 copies is considered platinum in the U.K, these are good numbers for first week sales. The album also sold 9,500 copies in Australia. I think this album is going to sell like 600k copies worldwide first week. .

We will know what Yeezus sold first week in the states by tomorrow night. By the way, J.Cole's Born Sinner which dropped on the same day as Kanye's Yeezus sold 12,000 copies in the U.K, and that places him at the number 7 spot on the U.K album chart this week.

Rap Albums on Billboard Chart

Nicki Minaj still holds the title of the highest selling rapper on the billboard chart this week, with her second album, Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded, which sold 81,000 copies this week. Nicki's sophomore is now at a two week total of 335,000.

Christian rapper, Trip Lee is welcomed on the chart this week with his 4th album; The Good Life. The album sold 22,000 copies in its first week. To me, considering the niche he is in, i think that is a huge success.

Drake is at a total of 1,683,000 copies sold so far of his Take Care album, with 14,000 copies sold this week. There is nothing stopping this album from going double platinum and beyond. I predicted this even before the album dropped. Regardless of what people think of it, i consider it a great album.

I guess YMCMB really are running things. Tyga's Careless World: Rise of The Last King is up next, selling 10,000 copies this week, to now total at 191,000. Young Jeezy's TM103 album sold 7,800 copies this week, and is now at a total of 560,000.

1,412,000 copies of Jay-Z and Kanye West's Watch The Throne album has been sold till date, with 5,400 copies sold this week. This album might not go double platinum, but i consider it one of the greatest hiphop albums to drop in a while.

J.Cole's Cole World album is still waxing strong on the chart, with 4,300 copies sold this week, it now stands at a grand total of 601,000. Diggy's Unexpected Arrival debut album sold 3,400 copies this week, and is now at a total of 43,000 copies so far.

E-40s Block Brochure, Volume 2 sold 2,000 copies this week, to now total at 13,000.
