Lil Wayne's Carter 4 album is dropping Monday, Aug 29, but it would be available for download on iTunes at midnight of the 28th. I would try to predict what it would sell in its first week, like I have been doing with other albums that have been dropping this year. This is a huge project, but I doubt it would sell like the last Carter (Tha Carter 3), which sold 1,005,545 in its first week.
Rebirth (2010), the rock album he dropped last year sold 176,000 copies in its first week; and I Am Not A Human Being, the EP he also dropped last year sold 110,000 copies in its first week. If I was to predict what Tha Carter 4 would sell, based on his presence in the rap game right now, I would say between 350-550k first week. That's it. We would have to wait till next week to see how on-point I am.
Thats nothing man. Rebirth was something new and people dont know what to expect that the reason of rebirth sales. I Am not a human being have almost no propagation and he dropped it when he was in jail. But Carter IV is most most anticipated cd of the year and most anticipated cd of Lil Wayne. Sales at least as carter 3 ;-)
ReplyDeleteIt is possible he might sell higher than what i have predicted, but i don't think he can sell as high as Tha Carter 3 sold...i don't think he can sell a million copies in a week. Remember that Lollipop was a very big track on the radio, and in the clubs back in 2008 when carter 3 dropped. He doesn't have a hot enough single on the radio right now. I would say he might sell up to 700k tops.
ReplyDeleteY'all are forgetting the most important factor...he is dropping it the day after .tv movie awards where he is performing and most likely plugging his album all night. ..then mtv plays that ship non stop for the next month...he is smart in the planning of pushing back the album...now he will easily sell over a million first week...
ReplyDeleteHmm! That's a valid point you have there. I would like to adjust my carter 4 first week sales prediction at this point. I think he would sell like 200k copies on the first day off iTunes digital download alone, and carter 4 total sales after one week would be between 600-850k. Based on recent happennings, and activities on the internet, this is my new first week sales prediction of lil wayne's tha carter 4 album.
ReplyDeleteHe also is on tour with Rick Ross. Throw in the MTV unplugged show. A lot of people already downloaded a few singles, so getting the remainder of the album will be cheap. I'm think 1 million because he's bigger now. His crowd is more diverse. Hip hop and rockers dig his music.
ReplyDeleteHe'll definately sale more than 850k. He's on tour promoting. The concert was amazing. He did MTV unplugged. Most people already have a few single so completing the album download will be cheap. His audience includes hip hip, rock, and skater folks. He's pulling from a larger audience.

ReplyDeleteAt this point in Lil Wayne's career, it isn't about quality of album...he has built a monstrous brand, and that is what would determine howmany copies of his album he sells. In the last couple of days, i have been getting close to a thousand views daily on this particular page alone; that is to show you the number of people checking out for the album.
You guys shouldn't forget to bookmark my blog, so that you can come back and check the eventually first week sales projection based on first day sales...that would come in on Wednesday by 2 p.m New York time.
ReplyDeleteI bought C-4 last night at the very end of his performance @ the VMA..., I love the album, it's something NEW. At this point in waynes world he could say whatever he wants on whatever instrumental and sell. You might not think some of these songs are hot off the bat, but they will all blow up, I can already tell a few of these will. It's not about his music as much as it is about HIM. People want to hear tunechi, people know he expresses his self through albums, and people want to hear it. They will listen, repetive, and the Album will explode. That said, I think the album is dope and caters itself to many genre. I won't say 1 week but I'll say at least 1.5-2million in 2 weeks. I know iTunes said after VMA the following 30 minutes they had over 100k downloads. That's insane. The Download speeds sucked. Lol
