Beyonce's Father (Mathew Knowles) Speaks on Why He and Nas Parted Ways

For those that don't know, Mathew Knowles, Beyonce's father was instrumental to Beyonce's success, from when she was 12 years old in a girl group called Girls Tyme in 1993, till about 4 years ago when Beyonce cut ties with him. He managed her and the whole Destiny's Child, and then he went on to manage her as a solo artist. Steve Stoute Says Nas Never Disappointed Him

For those that don't really know who Steve Stoute is; he was a big time music exec (at Sony Music, and also Interscope) in the 90s and 2000s, and now is into marketing. He was responsible for signing 50 Cent to Sony in the 90s (before 50 was dropped from the label, and then signed by Dre and Eminem), and he was also Nas's manager most part of the 90s and 2000s. In a recent interview on Power 105.1's The Breakfast Club, Charlamagne Tha God asked him if Nas ever disappointed him by not being bigger than he could have been, and he answered with...

"You know what? I love that man. Twenty years we've been friends. And...we went through some really bad times...like all great relationships need to do. And ahh...he is what he is man! One of the greatest stories I had, I was at Quincy Jones house one night, and he had shown me the audition tape of...what's the film? The Color Purple...so anyhow, we talking, and he starts telling me about being in Saint-Tropez in like 1962. Like...and he is like, wait a minute. And then we bring up Nas, and he says 'wait a minute' and he goes and comes back with a picture of him, Miles (Davis), and Nas's Dad (Olu). Like Olu was getting down...That's Nas's father, you know on the Jazz scene, and was International in the 60s, so I know Nas is a real artist. So, I don't never get upset about him. Like him....you know, shying away from fame, or shying...cos he's the real deal. The real deal, they not driven by popularity, they're driven by their sense of art. And once you understand that about real artists, you never get upset with them because they just who they are mehn!" (The Breakfast Club)

Nigerian Singer, Asa in Court Over Lesbianism Case

I was lying down in bed yesterday, half conscious when I heard on the entertainment section of a particular radio station that Asa was in court for a Lesbianism case. I was like- WTF! It kind of shocked me cos I was just listening to very boring normal news about Nigeria, and then BAM! The Asa news came on.

I'd care less about her sexual preference, I think she is super talented. I did a little research and found out that the suit was actually filed by Asa herself and not the other way round. Aparrently, she filed a N700 million suit against a lagos based magazine last year, who had a story in one of their issues that Asa was having a Lesbian affair with her manager, Janet Nwose.

Read more below-

The case before Justice Coker was to be heard when her star witness, Damilola Amolegbe was said to have declined being called as a witness, telling Asa’s lawyers from Abraham Chambers that she couldn’t be a witness in Asa’s matter.

Having granted the music star much indulgence in the matter, the trial Judge then ordered that the case be closed and called for written address of the two parties.

Meanwhile her manager Janet Nwose, who was alleged to be having an affair with Asa did not come up as a witness which has raised the eyebrows of legal experts.

It would be recalled that Asa and her manager, Janet Nwose had a suit against the publishers of a Lagos-based magazine, ‘News of the People’ sometime last year. They urged the court to declare that the statement and picture in the December 14-22 edition of the magazine, entitled “Lesbianism Tale Trails Asa and Manager” was defamatory.

Asa wants the court to declare that the allegation of lesbianism against her and Janet is false, illegal and a violation of their rights. (oodera.com)
