Brymo Cries Out To Public For Help With Label

Former Chocolate City Music Label artist, Brymo is crying out to the public for help with his situation at the label. I remember when The LOX (Jadakis, Sheek Louch, & Styles P) did something similar back in the early 00s. They had signed a very bad contract with Puffy while they were teenagers, and needed desperately to get out of it. In situations like that, you can't go to court cos paper work from the Record Label would win the case in their favour. The only way out is to seek sympathy from the public, and let them fight the course with you.

‘I’m actually having problems with Chocolate City and it’s contractual problems. The reason why I said I dumped the contract was because of breaches‘, Brymo told reporters in Lagos.

The singer also stated that he cannot ‘be saved’ by the Nigerian court if he were to legally pursue the matter hence his cry to the public. ‘It came important to call this gathering, I’m a Nigerian, I know the court cannot save me‘. (hiphopworldmagazine.com)

The thing with most artists that get into situations like this is that they were probably hungry when the label signed them, and were okay with everything in the contract that was presented to them. But, after enjoying a level of success, they would feel they deserve more than that. Let's say an artists signs a 4 year deal, where he would be making 40% royalties off his music, and 50% off show/concert money, in exchange for maybe N5,000,0000 advance money and some other pecks. After 2-3 years of operating under the contractual agreements, the artist starts to feel cheated, cos now he is bigger, and he is commanding like a million naira a show, and feels depressed every-time he has to give 500k back to the label, even though he does all the work. But a deal is a deal.

Nigerian Singer, Asa in Court Over Lesbianism Case

I was lying down in bed yesterday, half conscious when I heard on the entertainment section of a particular radio station that Asa was in court for a Lesbianism case. I was like- WTF! It kind of shocked me cos I was just listening to very boring normal news about Nigeria, and then BAM! The Asa news came on.




 I'd care less about her sexual preference, I think she is super talented. I did a little research and found out that the suit was actually filed by Asa herself and not the other way round. Aparrently, she filed a N700 million suit against a lagos based magazine last year, who had a story in one of their issues that Asa was having a Lesbian affair with her manager, Janet Nwose.

The case before Justice Coker was to be heard when her star witness, Damilola Amolegbe was said to have declined being called as a witness, telling Asa’s lawyers from Abraham Chambers that she couldn’t be a witness in Asa’s matter.

Having granted the music star much indulgence in the matter, the trial Judge then ordered that the case be closed and called for written address of the two parties.

Meanwhile her manager Janet Nwose, who was alleged to be having an affair with Asa did not come up as a witness which has raised the eyebrows of legal experts.

It would be recalled that Asa and her manager, Janet Nwose had a suit against the publishers of a Lagos-based magazine, ‘News of the People’ sometime last year. They urged the court to declare that the statement and picture in the December 14-22 edition of the magazine, entitled “Lesbianism Tale Trails Asa and Manager” was defamatory.

Asa wants the court to declare that the allegation of lesbianism against her and Janet is false, illegal and a violation of their rights. (oodera.com)
