56th Grammy Awards Nominations (2014)- Full List
I didn't put this up last month when it hit the Internet cos I was sick, so I decided to put it up today since the Grammy Awards is going down tomorrow. The 56th Annual Grammy Awards will hold on Sunday, the 26th of January, at the usual spot- Staples Center, LA, California, USA. Check out the list of nominations below. Jay Z, who is no stranger here, is leading the pack with 9 nominations. Macklemore and Kendrick Lamar are individually nominated 7 times, and they seem to be in the same category against each other in most of the nominations. Who ever wins in those categories, whether it be Macklemore or Kendrick, there is going to be a lot of discussion on the outcome after tomorrow.

2 Chainz Names Top 5 Dead Or Alive
There is always that debate on who and who are the best rappers in Hip Hop history; and of recent, everybody wants to know who are the top 5 dead or alive. In a recent interview of his, Atlanta rapper, 2 Chainz spoke on which rappers he considers the top 5 dead or alive.
"Scarface, I'm from the South. Geto Boys, Rap-A-Lot, they just had a lot to do with the grooming of young black males coming from where I'm from. You got Nasir Jones who is still relevant, who I think paints the dopest pictures you can paint in hip-hop. I think he's somewhat Picasso with the rap. ... Tupac was probably my favorite of all time. I named a lot of my mixtapes [after him]. Biggie was another ill person. He had a lot of bangers out. His influence and people just followed his lifestyle and some of the things he said back then - people are just now catching onto. Jay Z is one of the best ones doing it. Period. He just kinda shows us that rap is just a stepping stone to other things. So I appreciate his vision and I appreciate his savvy." (Sports Nation)
So that is Scarface, Nas, Tupac, Biggie and Jay Z...in no particular order. Asides from Scarface, I think every rapper lists the other 4 when they are listing who they consider top 5 dead or alive. These lists are becoming redundant...like people just go with who other people mention the most in their lists. I consider Scarface one of the greats, and I am happy 2 Chainz is knowledgeable enough to know that fact. I think more people need to throw in Big Pun into the mix once a while...I think he is super underrated. Throw in Jadakiss...throw in Kool G Rap.

Derek Jeter Names Top 5 Dead Or Alive
Rappers have been known to name which rappers they rate as the top 5 dead or alive in Hip Hop, but it is all good to have a sports person name his list to. Baseball legend, Derek Jeter was at the ThisIs50 (50 Cent's website) building a couple of days ago, and when asked for his top 5 dead or alive, he said...
"That's a tough question. You know I got to put 50 [Cent] in there. I'm in his building so I can't get in trouble. 50. Biggie. Jay. Eminem. Michigan [guy], you see I got my Michigan shirt on. How many's that? Diddy too. I like New York. I stick with New York."
What can I say about his list? Well, nice list, but Diddy? Even though Diddy's first album, No Way Out has sold 7 million copies to date since it was released in 1997, I still don't consider him a rapper. Diddy doesn't even write his own raps. Diddy is a business man that knows how to use every opportunity available to him to the optimum, but he is not one of the greatest rappers in my eyes. Anyway, that's the guy's choice.

Kidd Kidd Names Top 5 Favourite Rap Albums
In case you don't know him, Kidd Kidd has been around for a while. He was formerly with Lil Wayne's movement, but signed with 50 Cent's G-Unit Records a couple of years ago. HipHopDx caught up with him recently, and made him spill his list of top 5 favourite rap albums of all time-
“Gotta be 50 Cent's Get Rich Or Die Tryin. That album bust the streets right back open. He brought the Gangsta Rap to the forefront of Hip Hop, you know what I mean. Get Rich Or Die Tryin’,definitely. I would say Jay-Z, the Reasonable Doubt [album], that was stupid crazy to me. I still listen to that to this day. Tupac, you know what I’m sayin’, I might even have to say two of Tupac albums, All Eyez On Me and The Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory. I really love those albums. Last but not least, I wanna say Nas, that I Am.. album. A lot of people slept on the I Am... album, you know what I’m sayin’, but that’s my favourite album from Nas. I love that album. So that’s my top five right there. Those albums I could listen to all day every day without skipping any songs.”
Big Sean Comments on 2013's MTV Hottest MCs In The Game List
Last week, MTV revealed a list of 10 rappers they feel are the Hottest MCs in the Game; the list has gotten people talking ever since. People like Kanye West and A$AP Rocky who appeared on the list at number 7 and 8 respectively felt they were meant to be higher up the list, Fabolous was of the opine that the list is not far from accurate, since it is about the hottest rappers in the game right now, and not about the most lyrical, or greatest of all time. Big Sean also recently spoke on the list, and below is what he had to say-
"[Pusha T] be spitting too," Sean said in an interview. "Pusha, you know, where was he at? He set off 'Don't Like,' he was on 'Mercy.' He's a real competitive dude just like we all are, man, so I feel I should of, everybody, if you don't feel you should have been number one, then I don't know what the f*ck you're doing this for. I feel I'm the best emcee, I'ma prove myself. I've got a lot to prove. And that's what makes it fun. I always say, like, who are at the top of game, 2 Chainz, he's been doing it for a long a** time. Lil Wayne, it took Wayne [some time]. The Carter wasn't his first album. 500 Degreez was his first album and it took all these different levels of successes and different plateaus." (Semtex TV)
I really like how Big Sean spoke on the journey to success, and how he pointed out that Tha Carter wasn't Lil Wayne's first album, but I have to correct him...500 Degreez was released in 2002, and definitely isn't Wayne's first album. Lil Wayne had The Block Is Hot (1999) and Lights Out (2000) before that. Anyway, I get his drift.

Forbes Top 5 Wealthiest in Hip Hop (2012)
Diddy is the closest to becoming a billionaire, leading the pack with a net worth of $550 million. The Bad Boy Records founder has remained a mainstream mainstay for 15 years thanks to his knack for self-promotion. Next up is Jay-Z at $460 million. Unlike his fellow Forbes Five members, Jay-Z still churns out music and goes on tour--most recently with pal Kanye West--adding to his considerable war chest. He sold his Rocawear clothing label for $204 million in 2007 and signed 10-year $150 million deal with Live Nation in 2008, and also holds stakes in the New Jersey Nets, his 40/40 Club chain, ad firm Translation, cosmetics company Carol's Daughter and other businesses. (Forbes)Other close contenders include Interscope Records' Dr. Dre and 50 Cent.
Dr. Dre ranks third with $270 million, doubling from a year ago thanks to a major sale. In August, handset maker HTC paid $300 million to buy a 51% stake in Beats Electronics, the company founded by Dr. Dre and Interscope chief Jimmy Iovine in 2008. Birdman clocks in at No. 4 with a fortune of $125 million. He cofounded Cash Money Records with brother Ronald "Slim" Williams two decades ago, inking very favorable $30 million distribution deal with Universal in 1998. "To be honest, on that list, I was on the cover of Forbes back in '98," Diddy explained in an interview. "I been on that list. I don't really get caught up into the list. I think people think that I have that money actually sitting at home in the basement...It's really like if I sold all my companies, and I take pride in [building] something as a black man that's worth that much...To everyone calling me for a loan today, I do not have that money today! ... It helps inspire people and it shows the power of hip-hop." (MTV)
