Dr. Dre Is Not A Billionaire Yet
Although Apple bought his Beats By Dre headphones company a couple of days ago for $3 billion, Dre is not yet worth a Billionaire. Yea, Dre is not the first Hip Hop billionaire. Why? Because he is not the sole owner of the company; he has 25% stake in the company. Experts have calculated how much Dre's set to gain from the Apple deal, added to his current net worth (which is already largely connected to the Beat By Dre company), after taxes, Dre would be worth $790 million. This will make him Hip Hop's richest mogul, but not Hip Hop's first billionaire. I hope you understand how I broke it down. Okay, I know I am not an expert at finance, so I am going to let the people at Forbes break it down for you.
Jay Z's Net Worth (2014)
Jay Z, one of the top 3 richest rappers in Hip Hop for the last decade or so, has a Net Worth of $475 million (According to Forbes). He has been hovering around the $350-$550 million mark for about ten years now. Maybe he needs to invest in a business that brings in Residual income if he wants to hit that Billion dollar mark. But at a worth of 475 million dollars, he is currently the second richest rapper/Hip Hop mogul on the scene (Number one spot is held by Diddy).
Jay Z, who's real name is Sean Carter will be 45 this year, and has built most of his net worth from his very successful rap career. Over the years, he branched out into the fashion world, liquor endorsements, and sports world of late. In 2009, he bought back his contract from Def Jam Records for $5 million, and got his Masters. So now, he owns all his music while having a joint deal with Live Nation (the deal with Live Nation netted him a whooping $150 million in 2008). His label, Roc Nation, which is in partnership with Live Nation, is both a label and an artist Management outfit. Artists under the label include Jay Z himself, J.Cole, Willow Smith, and Jay Electronica; and artists managed by Roc Nation include, Wale, Rihanna, Shakira, Jeezy, Rita Ora, Meek Mill, and a host of other Internationally acclaimed artists.
He is also into sports management with Roc Nation Sports...Basketballer, Kevin Durant, and Football player, Victor Cruz are some of the sportsmen he manages. You know that with all this businesses, there is multiple streams of income coming in for Mr. Sean Carter, so it is no surprise that he has a Net Worth of half a billion dollars.

When Will A Hip Hop Mogul Hit A Billion
I am really wondering if hip hop moguls like Jay-Z and Diddy are scared of hitting that billion dollar mark. I feel it could be an unconscious limiting belief they don't know about. I mean, Diddy has been worth half a billion for as long as I can remember. I think i can still find that Source magazine edition from back in 2000 that had Diddy and Master P at around half a billion each in individual networth. Master P is nolonger mentioned in the Forbes list as one of the richest Hip Hop moguls, and Diddy has been fluctuating since then; but never going higher than $500 million.
Diddy is currently at the top with a networth of $580 million, and Jay-Z has the number 2 spot with a $475 million. Even Jay has been hovering around that half a billi mark for the last 7 years or so. These two have the most chances of hitting that Billion dollar mark. 50 Cent went from being worth $400 million in 2008, to currently having a networth of $125 million. I am not saying it is an easy thing to hit a billion, but I think these men are already up their, rubbing shoulders with billionaires (Jay-Z having lunches with Warren Buffett), so they should have a billionaire mindset by now. The playing field is pretty much open for them to expand their wealth, unless they are limited in the mind.
I know not every one of the rappers have ambitions of being super rich, but the ones that brag about how much they have must be ashamed of themselves. Like how J.Cole rapped on Mo Money (a track off his Born Sinner album)- Still broke compared to niggas with old money/I mean the type of niggas that laugh at Hov money/Billionaires with Petroleum and coal money/Probably kill themselves if the had Cole money. What I mean is that since these artists have the ambition of being the richest men on the planet, why are they still not hitting that Billionaire mark? You got Dr. Dre (currently worth $275 million) who has been in the business for over 25 years still working under Jimmy Iovine (Interscope Records C.E.O), like he is scared to do his own independently thing. It still comes down to that limiting people I am talking about.
To even think that the only black billionaire in America is a woman (Oprah Winfrey) is really funny to me. Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods, Diddy, Magic Johnson, and Jay-Z have been hovering around that half a billionaire mark for years now. With all the popularity and money they have, i just believe these people should have hit that Billionaire dollar mark by now. I mean, America is a capitalist narion, and with a huge population of 300 million people, there is a higher chance for them to hit that billi mark. There are many fields they can branch into; they already have the money to throw into different fields. I think they need to stop thinking of fast money (endorsement deals), and start thinking long money, like residual income type of money. And they need to start owning more of their shit.

Wonderful! I like how most of the women made their money from building a brand...they milked that brand after building it over the years. That's the beauty of having a brand...whether it's your name, or your company name.

Forbes Hip Hop Cash Kings 2012
It has been a known fact for a couple of days now that Dr Dre tops the list of Hip Hop Cash Kings this year according to Forbes, but it is cool to see the other contenders on the list. I personally think it is very interesting the way Dre tops the list with earning from just one deal. He sold half of the stakes in his Beats By Dre company for $300,000,000 to HTC, and he shared it with his other partners (Jimmy Iovine being one of them), to end up with the $110,000,000 he earned between last year August, to 2012 August.

Please note that the figures below are in millions of dollars, and they show what each individual artist earned between August 2011- August 2012. This figures do not represent their net-worth, but money earned during a full year. I think some names on the list will shock you...and also the position of some artists.

Forbes Top 5 Wealthiest in Hip Hop (2012)
Diddy has been on this list for as long as i can remember using the internet, so it doesn't come as a surprise that he makes it again this year. What i just wish is that he would make it to a billion. Below is news on the top 5 wealthiest individuals in hip hop.
Diddy is the closest to becoming a billionaire, leading the pack with a net worth of $550 million. The Bad Boy Records founder has remained a mainstream mainstay for 15 years thanks to his knack for self-promotion. Next up is Jay-Z at $460 million. Unlike his fellow Forbes Five members, Jay-Z still churns out music and goes on tour--most recently with pal Kanye West--adding to his considerable war chest. He sold his Rocawear clothing label for $204 million in 2007 and signed 10-year $150 million deal with Live Nation in 2008, and also holds stakes in the New Jersey Nets, his 40/40 Club chain, ad firm Translation, cosmetics company Carol's Daughter and other businesses. (Forbes)Other close contenders include Interscope Records' Dr. Dre and 50 Cent.
Dr. Dre ranks third with $270 million, doubling from a year ago thanks to a major sale. In August, handset maker HTC paid $300 million to buy a 51% stake in Beats Electronics, the company founded by Dr. Dre and Interscope chief Jimmy Iovine in 2008. Birdman clocks in at No. 4 with a fortune of $125 million. He cofounded Cash Money Records with brother Ronald "Slim" Williams two decades ago, inking very favorable $30 million distribution deal with Universal in 1998. Rounding out the Forbes Five is Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson at $110 million. The Queens-born rapper earned $100 million on the sale of his Vitaminwater stake in 2007--and tens of millions more from touring, record sales and clothing--but spent freely on cars and renovations to his mansion, formerly owned by Mike Tyson. (Forbes)After getting named the first hip-hop artist to likely hit a billion bucks last year, Diddy downplayed the hype surrounding his buzz.
"To be honest, on that list, I was on the cover of Forbes back in '98," Diddy explained in an interview. "I been on that list. I don't really get caught up into the list. I think people think that I have that money actually sitting at home in the basement...It's really like if I sold all my companies, and I take pride in [building] something as a black man that's worth that much...To everyone calling me for a loan today, I do not have that money today! ... It helps inspire people and it shows the power of hip-hop." (MTV)
