Jay-Z Congratulates J.Cole on Having A Number 1 Album

J.Cole's Cole World: The Sideline Story got the number one position on billboard top 200 album charts this week, and Jay-Z came forward to congratulate his employee...J.Cole is signed to Jay-Z's Roc Nation label.



“J. Cole’s success is testament to amazing artist development and Cole’s hard work,” said Jay-Z in a statement. “I want to congratulate him on a #1 album and more importantly a great body of work.”










I also personally congratulate him, because it ain't easy to sell above 100,000 copies first week nowadays, and he sold 217,000, so that is a great. And to top it up, this is his first studio album, and he came in number one on the chart, so that is really a course for celebration.

J.cole released his long anticipated debut album last week tueday, 27 Sept, and it has finally done a full week in stores. Courtesy of hitsdailydouble.com, J.Cole's Cole World: The Sideline Story has sold 217,000 copies in its first week. I think that is really impressive considering the fact that he doesn't have a crazy buzz surrounding the album right now.




Of course J.cole's debut has been highly anticipated since he officially signed with Jay-Z's Roc Nation label in 2009, but the two singles (Work Out & Cant Get Enough) he has released off the album haven't been doing so well on radio, and they are not top 20 singles either: so, i say J.Cole achieved this success based on the strength of his mixtapes in the past, and the followers he has gained since he got in the game...and his appeal to the opposite sex on the two singles.

First Week Sales Prediction of Cole World: The Sideline Story

J.Cole's debut album (Cole World: The Sideline Story) is finally dropping next week(Sept 27) , and it has some people guessing on how it would do in stores. There are two singles out from the album Work Out, and Can't Get Enough. Although these songs are not typical of what you would hear from Cole, fans are still hopeful that he dropped those for album publicity reasons, and that the real Cole would be on the album. I am going to attempt to predict what this album would do in its first week.





J.Cole doesn't have any albums out, so i am going to do this off the buzz surrounding this album. Although it has been expected for a while now (since he signed with Roc Nation in 2009), he doesn't have that huge buzz that someone like Drake had...or a B.O.B had, so he would most likely sell lower than they did. Drake sold over 400k of his Thank Me Later debut in its first week in stores , and b.o.b sold about 80k in his first week. I will say J.Cole would sell between 60-130k copies in his first week out with Cole World: The Sideline Story.

J.Cole Comments on Album Leak

J.Cole's Cole World:The Sideline story recently leaked on the internet, and he has come forward to comment on it, saying it could serve a good purpose.


“I feel blessed. There’s been worse leaks than that so I understand it’s a part of the game, I always understood that. As long as people hear it together, it’s cool,” he said. “And I just know that the people who are going to buy it were going to buy it anyways. The people who weren’t probably weren’t, anyways. If anything, the leak will reach out to more people who might be like ‘ah man, let’s go get this.' So you know, it's kind of like promotion these days—if you got a good album. If you don't have a good album—they'll just trash you.”


Cole, whose album goes on pre-sale on iTunes today, is more excited about the fact that his debut will finally hit stores.


“I’m just excited. Of course I’ve got some nerves. It’s only natural to have nerves, but I’m really more excited and proud. I can’t believe I’m actually going to have a CD that’s in stores. I got a long way to go in the game, but that’s definitely a day where I’ll be able to pat myself on the back - which I don’t do often.”



I have not heard it yet, but if i do see a link to download it, i would definitely still buy it when it drops next week. Although i am not too impressed with the 2 singles off the album, i think, judging from his past mixtapes, that he would definitely have some real dope hip hop tracks on the album.
