J.cole released his long anticipated debut album last week tueday, 27 Sept, and it has finally done a full week in stores. Courtesy of hitsdailydouble.com, J.Cole's Cole World: The Sideline Story has sold 217,000 copies in its first week. I think that is really impressive considering the fact that he doesn't have a crazy buzz surrounding the album right now.Of course J.cole's debut has been highly anticipated since he officially signed with Jay-Z's Roc Nation label in 2009, but the two singles (Work Out & Cant Get Enough) he has released off the album haven't been doing so well on radio, and they are not top 20 singles either: so, i say J.Cole achieved this success based on the strength of his mixtapes in the past, and the followers he has gained since he got in the game...and his appeal to the opposite sex on the two singles.
