Throwback Pic: Lil Cease, Jadakiss, Biggie, Sheek Louch, Mase, and Styles P

The Notorious B.I.G, one the greatest rappers ever died this day (March 9th) twenty years ago. Below is a picture of him, Lil Cease, Mase, and The LOX.

From left to right, you have Lil Cease, Jadakiss, Biggie, Sheek Louch, Mase, and Styles P. This was probably taken around 96-97, and they are all wearing Versace shirts...apart from Biggie. Nice.

This picture was taken two days ago, Wednesday night precisely, at Styles P, and Jadakiss new Juice Bar (Juices for Life) opening in Brooklyn. They have a couple of them bars scatted all around New York. I wish them the best with the line of business.

That's DJ Envy, Sheek Louch, Jada Kiss, and Common.

This is a picture of New York rap veterans, Fabolous and Jadakiss in the studio. Fabolous recently said he and Jada were working on an EP together, so this might be studio time for that project. I can't wait.

This is a picture of Faith Evans (the late Biggie's Ex-Wife), and The LOX (Jadakiss, Sheek Louch, and Styles P) at the Bad Boy Reunion Tour. It's good to see them do this after twenty years. They were all signed to Puff Daddy's Bad Boy Records back in the mid/late 90s.

Legendary hip hop group, The LOX (Jadakiss, Sheek Louch, and Styles P) is the studio with Timbaland cooking up something in this picture. They are currently working on their album. I hope they finally get to release their official third album as a group.

Jadakiss Says You Can't Get Caught Up in the Past with Hip Hop

In his recent interview on Power 105.1 radio (with DJ Envy, Angela Yee, and Charlamagne), one third of The Lox, Jadakiss spoke on not getting caught up on the past if you want to move forward and be relevant in the present. I think this is a good idea, cos most of the 'stuck in the 90s' rappers have kinda totally vanished off the Hip Hop scene. Ofcos you don't have to follow what is hot now. You can keep doing your thing, add a little spice to it (with up to date production), and still be felt by this generation of rap music listeners- like what Jay Z, Eminem, Nas, and Snoop Dogg have been able to do. Those four have been able to stay relevant through three decades of rap history; the 90s, the 2000s, and the present decade, without losing the basic elements that make them who they are.

So, during the course of the Breakfast Club show interview on Power 105.1 radio, Charlamagne asked Jada..."How hard is it for you at this point to be like 'back in my era...'" And Jadakiss responded with...

Jadakiss Says It Was Harder to Get Into the Rap Game When He Came In

Speaking on some of his most memorable lyrics from the past during his interview with XXL, Jadakiss said that in the past you had to be lyrical to even have a chance of getting in the rap game. He says now, you can just swag your way to the winning circle. Yea, that's very true. There are a lot of rappers that are more swag and image than actual skills on the mic these days.

Check out how Jadakiss broke this down.

"Back then—not to take [away] nothing that’s going on now—you had to have lyrics to even get into a certain realm. To get Big’s attention and be recognized by [Jay Z], to Nas, to Wu[-Tang Clan], to Redman, Eminem, all of these dudes. Snoop [Dogg]. You had to have some lyrics. You can swag your way into the winner’s circle now. It’s nothing wrong with that. I am glad I came into the game at the time that I came in. It made me respect it more. If you didn’t have no firepower, they wouldn’t let you in at the time when we got in the show."

I remember when I would go into a CD store, and just go through all the CD's looking for any rapper's album Jadakiss is featured on, and buy the CD just for the Jadakiss guest appearance. I am talking of the late 90s/early 2000s, when music wasn't all over the Internet as it is now. I always looked for that Jada feature like it was a gem stone, and I was never let down at any time. I tried to put some of my friends unto Jada's music, but they were stuck on the more popular rappers. Then they heard Eminem name Jadakiss amongst the greatest, along with Jay, Pac, Biggie, and Nas., on Till I Collapse (Eminem Show- 2002), and they were like..."Hmm! Kay used to always talk about how Ill that dude was."

New Music: D Block Survivor (The LOX- Sheek Louch, Jadakiss, and Styles P)

Styles P and Jadakiss Open New Juice Bar in Yonkers (New York)

Styles P has been on that Juicing life for a while now, and already has opened about Juice Bars in New York. I guess Jadakiss is partnering with him on this venture. On Tuesday, Styles and Jada cut the ribbon on their new Juice Bar in Yonkers, New York. Unlike the low-key opening of Style's other Juice Bars, this one had a grand opening, with the Mayor of Yonkers, Mike Spano in attendance. As usual, Sheek Louch was M.I.A.

It's always good seeing rappers do something positive in their old neighborhoods and the world at large.

Check out what Jadakiss had to say about the business venture.

"We want to bring unity to the youth who are engaging in all of this nonsense. Here, you pretty much know everybody. As I said before, love is love is our slogan. We don't tolerate no violence. We're going to try to settle them down, give them a juice, and help them rectify whatever differences they're going through, because violence and juice don't go together."

LOL! "violence and juice don't go together." Jadakiss was probably high as hell during the event. From all the interviews of him I have watched, he always appears high. Anyway, it's a good thing they are in the news for something positive. Although it is gonna really be hard for them not to rap about violence, cos that's the type of hip hop they have always been known for.

New Music- Rio De Janeiro Remix (Apollo The Great feat. Jadakiss)

Throwback Song: John Blaze (Fat Joe feat. Nas, Big Pun, Jadakiss, and Raekwon)

50 Cent Explains Genesis of Past Beef With Fat Joe and Jadakiss

Although he has squashed his beef with them, there was a time that 50 Cent was at war with Fat Joe and Jadakiss, because they got on a song with Ja Rule (New York). In fact, 50 was beefing with the whole New York at the time. Read what he says was the genesis of the beef.

“My issues with Fat Joe. My issues with Jada and the entire LOX. These things came from my Ja Rule issue. It came from them trying to help him. I can’t let you help him while I’m destroying him. You see what I’m saying? When you destroyed you’re destroyed completely. That’s when they lost power. So, as he’s actually hurt and looking for some support somewhere and he gets Jada. And he gets Joe…Everybody gotta get some of this until they leave him alone and he just goes off to be buried.” (Complex)

I also read Robert Greene's 48 Laws of Power, and The 33 Strategies of War, but 50 seemed to have taken things to the extreme; by the way, the books mentioned above are some of Curtis Jackson's favorite books, and he happened to live his life by the principles in those  books. You need to read those books to really understand where 50 Cent is coming from. That is why he is always out for war.
