Soul 4 Real Detail Their Fallout with Heavy D

Back in their 90s, there were a lot of r&b groups; one of the most success from that era was Soul For Real. The group was made up of 4 brothers (Choc, Dre, Bri, and Jase), and was founded by the late rapper, Heavy D. They had two big hits songs in 1995; Candy Rain, and Every Little Thing I Do, which was from their platinum selling album of the same year, Candy Rain. But the issue they had with Heavy D later that year made get them get little to no push for their second album, For Life (1996), which didn't do as good as their first.

In their recent interview, they explained how the issue with Heavy D started. Read Bri's (the second youngest of the brothers) explanation below...

"Most of the time during the Candy Rain album, and even the For Life album, we met Hev and we said we're all lead singers, but Hev had a different view for us. So, I was always on the outside looking in. I was forced to pay close attention. So, the second single...this is what really happened you understand...the second single was Every Little Thing. Choc did the lead on the second single. So, Hev wanted to have Jase do the remix to Every Little Thing, and Choc and Hev kind of went at odds at that. So Hev immidiately was like, 'alright, f*ck that. We are about to just pull the plug on this things.' You understand...they hard to work with. So automatically, it was no more promotion...Every Little Thing went off on the momentum of Candy Rain by itself...Because we were contractually obligated is the only reason why the second album came out. So it was like, 'alright, f*ck it. We going to put y'all out but we not going to promote y'all, we not gonna do nothing.'"

That's so sad, cos they were really great singers, and would have had a longer career. I just watched their video for Every Little Thing I Do again on Youtube while writing this post, and it still sounds so good.

You can watch their full interview below...they start talking about the fallout with Heavy D around the 25 minute mark.
