Carter 4 Worldwide Sales

Lil Wayne's Carter 4 has been out for 8 weeks now, and it has sold 1,763,000 copies total worldwide. It would definitely go double platinum globally before the year runs out. It has sold sold a total of 1,586,000 copies nationally (in the U.S). Carter 4 would definitely bow out as the highest selling rap album of the year. The second highest selling rap album of the year so far is Jay-Z and Kanye West's Watch The Throne album, which has sold 994,000 copies so far.

Looking at the numbers of his global sales, and analysing it with the national sales, it shows that he sold only 177,000 copies internationally so far. What does that mean? It means Lil Wayne has the bulk of his fans in America, and he doesn't have so much of a great influence outside the states. Most rappers almost double their national sales internationally. As of right now, Watch The Throne has sold 994,000 copies nationally, but has sold over 1,350,000 copies globally. Game's Documentary only sold 2,300,000 copies nationally, but it sold 5,000,000 copies worldwide.

This takes nothing away from Lil Wayne, i just wanted to bring this to people's notice because i thought it was an interesting finding that people overlook. But whatever, Wayne is still ontop of things in the rap game when it comes to commercial success. Ofcos, i can't forget Eminem. Eminem is the only one that can sell as much as or more than Wayne right now, but i can't conclude just yet...i think Drake's Take Care is going to be huge commercially. I think it might not sell up to a million copies first week, but it would have a higher staying power. I think it would sell around 750k copies first week, and then drop to like 350k the next week, and maintain that for a while.

Carter 4 Sixth Week Sales

Lil Wayne's Carter 4 sold 53,000 copies in its sixth week, and is now at a total of 1,506,000 copies sold so far. If it steadies at this range, it should be able to hit double platinum status by the end of the year. Otherwise, it would have to be next year before it can hit the 2 million mark in sales.

Carter 4 is Lil Wayne's 7th album so far in his career, and it sold 960,000 copies in its first week in stores. That is a very close margin with the first week sales of Carter 3 in 2008, which was 1,005,000.

Carter 4 Fifth Week Sales

Lil Wayne's Carter 4 has been on the charts 5 weeks now, and sold 68,000 copies this week. Carter 4 has sold 1,452,000 copies so far. I think, it should go double platinum by the end of the year. It might end up being the highest selling rap album for the year.

I think Young Money/Cash Money got it locked down right now, and i am sure Carter 4 would sell more when Drake drops his Take Care album in a couple of weeks.

Rap Albums on Billboard Chart

Lil Wayne's Carter 4 is still the highest selling rap album on the Billboard chart; it sold 117,000 copies this week, and now totals at 1,301,000 copies after 3 weeks on the chart. If it can steady around 100k, and sell that for 5-8 weeks, he would be double platinum in 2 months or there about.
Kanye West and Jay-Z's Watch The Throne sold 36,000 copies this week, and is now at a total of 872,000 copies so far. Bad Meets Evil (Royce Da 5'9 & Eminem) are up next with their Hell: The Sequel EP which sold 13,000 copies this week, to total at 529,000 copies.

Game's The R.E.D Album sold 12,000 copies this week, and is now at a total of 168,000 copies total. I think this is a very unfortunate case for Game. I know him for Taunting other rappers low sales in the past; i guess what goes around comes around. And, on a serious note, i do feel for Game, cos i am a big fan. I am very sure his last minute disses at Jay-Z is a major cause of his album flopping. Either Jay made some moves on him in the industry, or people were just pissed at him for going at Jay...a second time, and after saying he wouldn't do that again. I really think Game needs to get himself together.

Nicki Minaj's Pink Friday album sold 8,000 copies this week, and is now at a total of 1,581,000 copies so far. Planet Pit from Pitbull sold 6,800 copies to now total at 213,000 copies. Whole Truth from Rapper Da T.R.U.T.H comes in on the chart this week with 4,600 copies sold.

Carter 4 Second Week Sales Projections

Carter 4 has been out 2 full weeks now, and we would get the exact amount of copies it sold in its second week. But, the people at hits daily double have come up with a projection of what Lil Wayne's Carter 4 album will sell.

Lil Wayne will easily repeat at #1 this week despite a second week drop of around 75%. Although there is only one debut in this week's Top 15, there are, however, a few new entries. The Beatles 1 album re-enters the chart (and Top 5) thanks to becoming available digitally for the first time this week at iTunes. Lil Wayne (Cash Money/Universal Republic) 230-250k Adele (XL/Columbia) 115-125k Jay Z & Kanye WestHITS Daily Double) (Roc-a-Fella/Roc Nation) 55-60k

I can remember saying i wished it would not drop too low as to sell 300k, but instead it is projected to sell even lower. Carter 4 sold 960,000 copies in its first week out, and i was happy for Wayne, but with this kind of drop, he would probably not make it to 3 million copies sold total. I thought he would at least sell about 350k second week, even if he don't sell half. I just hope he steadies at this and not go to selling 120 in the third week.

Carter 4 Sells A Million Copies in First Week

Congratulations to Lil Wayne, news just came in via hits daily double that Carter 4 sold 1,000,069 in its first week in stores. WOW! I think that is great. I actually thought the album would max out at 800k. He did 1,005,545 with Carter 3, and this is another "a millie" in one week.

But as I said in an earlier post, i hope he doesn't drop to like 300k next week like Carter 3 did. If he can do 500k  next week, and stay levelled at that range, then he is good. So, if you haven't gotten your copy, go out and get it. Or better still, just buy from the ad on this page. Once again- congratulations to Lil Wayne...and the entire cash money/young money family.

Carter 4 Breaks Digital Sales Record

Tha Carter IV [Deluxe Edition]Lil Wayne's Carter 4 was barely 7 days in last week when it broke the first week digital sales record held by Jay-Z and Kanye West with their Watch The Throne album. Apparently, Jay and Kanye had broken the record just about 3 weeks ago, by selling 290,000 copies of their album digitally, beating out former record holders, Cold Play. Carter 4 beat the record just after 4 days in, already selling 300,000 copies digitally.

Nowadays, the bulk of sales are made digitally, but Wayne still has a ton of fans going to the store to get his album. Projections for Carter 4 first week sales have gone up from earlier 850-950 projections, to 925-975. I wish he would just sell a million. But, i wouldn't wish him that if he is going to drop to selling just about a quarter of that in the second week. Like how Carter 3 (2008) sold 1 million in its first week, dropped to 300k in the second week, and then around 179k in the third. That isn't good for overall sales. That's why Carter 3 sold just 3 million copies over all in the U.S.

But you can check out the sales of an album like Get Rich Or Die Tryin, 50 cent's first official album which sold 872,000 copies in its first week, and went on to sell 822,000 copies in its second. Through out my 10 years of monitoring album sales, i have never seen any album do that...i mean, sell just as much copies sold in the first week in the second week. And it went on to sell 6 million copies in the U.S alone. That is the kind of sales i want for Carter 4, and not just a big first week sales alone. On this same topic, i would like to bring in Mariah Carey's The Emancipation of Mimi which sold just 404,000 copies in its first week, and ended up being the highest selling album for that year; closing the year with over 5 million copies sold. I watched this album sell 404k in its first week, and do about 230k in the following week, and hold on to that range of sales (over, or a little below 200k for more than 20 weeks.) I watched it myself, every week. Till this day, i have not seen any album sell consistently like that.

Read below what President of Young Money, Mack Maine has to say about album sales-

"[Wayne] actually told us if he don't do those same numbers again as C3 don't be mad," Mack admitted. "I said this before -- I toldNicki [Minaj] -- she was kinda nervous about her first-week sales -- I said, 'First week sales don't matter.' I'd rather my final sales matter. I know albums from Juvenile 400 Degreez to [Justin] Beiber's first album sold 20, or 30,000 the first-week and went onto sell 2 million one album then 6 million on another album. I saw [Lady] Gaga did the 99 cent thing [and] then [her] second-week it did like 175,000. Congratulation as it relates to her. With Wayne, I don't want him to sell a million the first-week, [and] then drop to 100,000 the next week then 50,00 the following week. I'd rather sell ten times platinum total." (XXL Mag)

You see? That's exactly what i am talking about.

Baby Says They Are Pushing For A Million First Week Sales For Carter 4

Lil Wayne's Carter 4 drops tomorrow (29 Aug), but the digital copy would be officially available for download by mindnight today. Cash Money C.E.O, Brian "Baby" Williams has come forward to say they are pushing for the Carter 4 to sell a million copies in its first week. Carter 3 did that in 2008, but i do not know if this one can do that. But, that is just my opinion, i do not know what kind of marketing baby got going.

Below is what Baby had to say about Carter 4's first week sales-

Cash Money delivered Carter IV to Universal about 10 days in advance, which Williams says was necessary to press the two million units being shipped in its first week. "The goal is to sell a million-plus copies," he explains. Although that's likely what led to Carter IV breaking free, Williams says he's actually OK with leaks, to a point. "I can deal with it for short period of time," he says. It's when you have a leak out for a long time that it's crazy." (Rolling Stone)

So, they are shipping out 2 million copies in the first week? That is a lot. Men! I love baby's work ethics. That is a clever move, because the more cd's out there, the higher the possibilities of him selling a million first week. There wouldn't  be any stores that run out of stock on Carter 4. Wayne has a huge following, and you can see that from views on his videos on youtube, and also his recent projects. He released an EP of about 12 tracks last year, I Am Not A Human Being, and it sold 110,000 copies in its first week, and ended up going Plat. If wayne can sell 110,000 with an EP that was released while he was in jail, then i think he can sell at least 600,000 copies of his Carter 4 album.

I think he should be able to sell 600k easily, but i don't know, he could sell more than that. I know he has a lot of die-hard fans...i know that from the traffic that comes to my blog daily, and what they searched on google to get them to my blog. The projections for the first week sales will come in on Wednesday evening, so we just have to wait till them. But i know this project is going to be big.

Carter 4 First Week Sales Prediction

Tha Carter IV [Deluxe Edition]Lil Wayne's Carter 4 album is dropping Monday, Aug 29, but it would be available for download on iTunes at midnight of the 28th. I would try to predict what it would sell in its first week, like I have been doing with other albums that have been dropping this year. This is a huge project, but I doubt it would sell like the last Carter (Tha Carter 3), which sold 1,005,545 in its first week.

Rebirth (2010), the rock album he dropped last year sold 176,000 copies in its first week; and I Am Not A Human Being, the EP he also dropped last year sold 110,000 copies in its first week. If I was to predict what Tha Carter 4 would sell, based on his presence in the rap game right now, I would say between 350-550k first week. That's it. We would have to wait till next week to see how on-point I am.

Lil Wayne To Release Carter 4 A Day Early

Tha Carter IVLil wayne's Carter 4 Album is one of the most anticipated albums by hip hop fans and the music world generally this year. His Carter 3 album was released in 2008, and it went three times Platinum in the U.S alone. Rebirth, and I Am Not A Human Being are not counted as official albums by real rap enthusiast. For one, Rebirth was a rock album, and I Am Not  A Human Being was an EP. Both did okay commercially; (Rebirth ended up selling 683,000 copies in the U.S, and I Am Not A Human Being has sold 925,000 copies so far), and are evidence that Carter 4 is also going to be a commercial success. Lil Wayne has decided to release Carter 4 digitally a day before the album hits stores.

Following his performance at the MTV Video Music Awards this Sunday (August 28th), Lil Wayne plans to make his oft-delayed new album Tha Carter IV available at digital retailers at midnight.
According to Billboard.biz, the Young Money chief hopes that his performance will inspire fans to purchase the album in stores like iTunes and Amazon.com before it hits physical retailers on August 29th. “I am extremely excited to be the first artist to utilize such an amazing idea. I hope that I can open the door for others," said Wayne in a statement.
I think Carter 4 would definitely go Gold in its first week, and that wont be off the quality of the album, but the brand Lil Wayne has been able to build in the industry so far. I am not saying i doubt lil wayne's rap skills, but even if it ends up being a weak album, it would still sell off the buzz wayne has.
