This guy is just relentless...year in year out, he keeps reinventing himself, and dropping something new like every 4 months. This video was premiered on his VEVO channel 2 hours ago.

I was just watching Reminisce's 'Local Rappers' video yesterday, and was thinking of how far Nigerian rappers have come in the last couple of years. Things are now looking good for Naija rappers, and they don't have to sound foreign to be accepted.I decided to put a list together, naming who I consider the TOP 5 HOTTEST rappers in Nigeria right now. Yup! Here goes.

Olamide vs Linda Ikeji
Olamide is more or less the king of rap in Nigeria right now, and Linda Ikeji is the number one blogger in the country. Yesterday, she posted a false story of Olamide expecting a baby (out of wedlock) with his long time girlfriend. Apparently, she didn't take time out to confirm the story, which turned out to be false. But the damage had already been done, as Olamide spew venom her way for close to three hours on Twitter yesterday. Check out some of his tweets below.

I know how pissed Olaimde must have been reading the news, but maybe he shouldn't have taken it as far as calling Linda Ikeji Oloshi (useless individual). Anyway, Linda should take this as a lesson to confirm her stories before posting. She has responded to his tweets on her blog, and I think it was done in a very mature manner. Olamide's work ethic is ridiculous, and he seems not to be burning out in anyway. This is why I will keep saying he is the best rapper in Nigeria currently. In this new song, Jogodo, he features Lynxxx and Ajebutter 22. Delivery was onpoint, subject matter was on point, and the production by Pheelz made it a song that transcends the Hip Hop genre. Lynxxx and Ajebutter delivered well too, but Olamide is definitely the star of his song. This dude is relentless...he dropped a full length album three months ago, and is already working towards his next album. Wale Speaks on His Nigerian Roots & Working With Wizkid and Olamide
Although he had never been to Nigeria before last year, Wale (real name- Adebowale Victor Folarin) has his roots deep in the country. His parents left Nigeria for Austria in the late 70's; they stayed there for a short while before traveling to America in 1979. According to Wale, more than 60% of extended family members are still in Nigeria. So, it was really a big deal for him traveling to the Motherland last year. Wale is a commercially successful Nigerian-American rapper, who rose to prominence in the late 2000's. He is currently signed to Rick Ross's MMG record label.
In a recent interview on Hot 105.1 FM, with The Breakfast Club crew (DJ Envy, Angela Yee and Charlamagne Tha God), he spoke on his Nigerian roots, and what traveling home last year meant to him.
“So, I met my grandfather for the first time. So, it was really intense. And I don’t really show that side of myself. I like to keep my personal life away. Y’all get my emotional, but y’all don’t really get the—y’all don’t know who I’m dating…I use my real, Nigerian name. That’s the first red flag of embracing it. You know what I’m saying? My first album I sampled a famous African record. Did a video for it. I’ve worked with Wizkid. I’ve worked with [Olamide]. I’ve worked with a lot of these people. Just because they not on the U.S. radar—I don’t know if I need to go Lil Wayne on niggas and put the tattoo of a Nigerian scripture, Nigerian Yoruba scriptures on the side of my face so they can be like ‘Yeah.’ I don’t know if I gotta come in wearing an agbada or something like that. But I do my best…That’s like Drake walking around with a yamaka.”
Hmm! Interesting. I know he has done two songs with Wizkid, but I haven't heard the song he did with Olamide. I gotta check for that one...I know it will be dope. Yea, I said it; Olamide is currently the best rapper in Nigeria. If you wanna dispute that fact, you will have to name someone better than him right now. There are a lot of Godfather's of rap in Nigeria like Modenine and Ruggedman that I will always give respect to; but right now, in 2014, Olamide is the best rapper in the country. His consistency is unparallelled. He keeps dropping hit after hit after hit, and he never seems lose steam.You might want to put up Ice Prince or Naeto C as contenders for that position, but those two are too one-dimensional with their raps. And also, they have a machine behind that make sure they get the best beats, the best features, and the best marketing. Olamide is a one-man-army, and you can't contest his skills on the mic. He switches from Yoruba to English, without losing the listener. And he has also shown that he is very versatile...rapping fast, slow, switching up his flow to fit into a guest appearance with not just rap artist, but R&B singers, and even Fuji singers too.
For the last 3 years, the kid has been on fire. Every guest appearance he gets on, he kills it. With all the songs you hear him on, you would think he would have spread himself thin by now, but he delivers all the time. The kid is is the most hard-working rapper in the country (he dropped two albums in the space of the last14 months), and definitely the best rapper out right now. He knows the basics of the art of rap; he has clever witty lines; the message is there, and his delivery is always on point. He is just the total Package. From First of All, to Durosoke, to Turn Up, to Dope Money, his hits are endless.

Olamide is definitely top 5 doppest rappers in Nigerian right now. The kid just keeps coming up with something fresh, witty and creative rap songs. He dropped his second album (YBNL)last year November, and he is about to drop the third. He raps in a mix of Yoruba (local dialect) and broken English. 'Baddest Guy Ever Liveth' is set to drop on the 7th of November; that is just 7 days from today. I think this dude's work ethic is incredible. D Banj Signs Olamide To DB Records
Fresh news out right now is that D'Banj just signed Olamide to his DB Records. Olamide is currently in Atlanta with D'Banj to perform at some American locations. A lot of money most have gone down for this deal to be sealed, cos I know Olamide is doing great all by himself. In the song with Phyno, he said something like..."One man mopo, mo ni record label/Awon to sign yin, e be ti mo de, wo le de be." He was bascially saying, he is making moves on his own, and that even musicians that sign other people to their labels can't reach his level...so, him signing to DB Records greatly contradicts his lyrics. Olamide is a Nigerian Rapper signed to I.D Cabasa's Codded Tunes Records. His managed by none other than 9ice's ex wife, Toni, on Toni Payne Concepts. Olamide's style is very similar to late Dagrin's style of rapping, which mixes a local Nigerian dialect (Yoruba), broken English and proper English; but with Yoruba being the dorminant lingua. Olamide being compared to Da Grin does not give room for any criticism, because, really no idea is original, and when you do get to listen to the kid, you can't but like him instantly. A close scrutiny of his lyrics, even if just 4 bars, would give you an insight that it comes from, no doubt, a very intelligent mind.His first official single, E Ni Duro would give you a taste of this young man's versatility. At a time when the nerdy look, and skinny jeans is the "in thing", he fits in just fine. And listening to him, or watching his video would give you the idea that he is strongly influenced by Lil Wayne.
