Jim Jones Talks About Inspiration Behind 'El Capo' Album

New York veteran rapper/Diplomats member, Jim Jones just dropped a new album titled El Capo. Personally, I feel the album is one of if not the best album he ever put out. A lot of people feel the same way. Not only is the lyrical content and flow on point, the album has really good songs on there...good hooks, banging beats and all that. He has been on a promo tour of the album the last couple of days, and he was on Miabelle's late night show a few nights ago on Hot 97 radio. He got asked by Miabelle what he inspiration behind the album was, and he said...




"...Just giving a picture of Harlem. I like giving people umm...letting people see where we came from. I'ma give you that audio visual, you know. Let my words explain to you some of the things that we went through...the ups, the downs, the laughs, the jokes, you know what I mean."






It is always good to go from the heart when making art. He got a great one with this album. If you haven't listened to it yet, please do. It's a really dope rap album.

New Video: My Era (Jim Jones feat. Maino & Drama)

This is a new one from Jim Jones, featuring Drama on the hook, and a dope verse from Maino; the song is titled, My Era. The song is off Jim Jone's latest mixtape, El Capo.

I love it when New York rappers do stuff together like this. The beat is a fire, Drama has a very catchy hook, and Jim Jones and Maino dropped dope verses. I see this song blowing up this summer.

Jim Jones Calls Damon Dash a Thief and Culture Vulture

Yea, in his Instagram post three days ago, Jim Jones called Damon Dash a thief and a culture vulture. This is really funny, cos Dame Dash has been all over the media calling execs like Lyor Cohen and Steve Stoute culture vultures for months now. And for someone that was once close to him to now call him the real culture vulture and thief, it raises a lot of eyebrows.

Jim Jones Speaks on The Biggest Misconception About Reality TV

It seems every rapper is doing a reality TV show now, but Jim Jones was definitely one of the first rappers to get into that line of getting extra income. In a recent interview, Jones spoke on the biggest misconception about Reality TV.

"The biggest misconception used to be that it was the wrong thing to do and for people who were washed up in other careers to try to reinvent themselves in other careers. Well, yeah, every year I try to reinvent myself, and I've reinvented myself so much that every person's trying to do reality TV right now. Reality TV accounts for over 60% of all television, so I got to be doing something right out here." (HHDX)











Well, what can I say? If rappers have found a new way to make money from their celebrity status, then it's all good. But, you got to say it removes the mystique that usually surrounded most celebrities in the past. I would not like to hear that someone like Nas is trying to do his own reality show...that would really hurt this legacy in a way. Mystique has a lot of power, and Nas as a lot of mystique as an individual.
