It is still sad to think that Nipsey Hussle was killed in his own neighborhood, by someone he knew. In Maino's recent interview on The Angie Martinez Show he said the reason why Nipsey's Hussle's death really touched him was because he knew Nipsey had seen life, and had a bigger picture of what life can be outside the hood, and that makes you want to live more. And for Nipsey to get killed at this point in his life, it really touched him.
Maino first started out explaining how your perception changes as a hood person when you travel the world and live more. Then he went on to talk about why Nipsey's death really touched him.
"As far as the streets is concerned, we did whatever we had to do to get out. That's the real narrative...Anytime I looked like a savage, it was because that was the survival in me. That was the result of my environment that shaped that type of thinking, that type of behavior. So after a while, when you get to the real world and you see that the world is bigger than just the hood...because they tricked us. They made us believe that the world was just the hood. So, anytime you get a chance to get out of that, and see the world, like wow, people, wow, and go places, and travel, and go to different countries, and taste different foods...and then you want to live more. Then you want to live more. This is why seeing, you know, what happened with Nipsey, it's been really really...it really touches me. Because I know he done seen life and tasted it and felt it, and is like wow, you want to live. You don't want to die; come on! That's not the way to go."
So true. Like Clint Eastwood said in the movie, A Fistful of Dollars, 'When a man's got money in his pocket, he starts to appreciate peace.' That's the fact. Your life means more to you when you a success.
