R.I.P Jerry Heller

Former music manager/music label owner, Jerry Heller passed away at 75 years old yesterday. Cause of death? Heart attack.God bless his soul.

In case you don't know who he was, the man played a big part in the success of the legendary Hip Hop group, N.W.A (Niggas With Attitude). Back in 1987, he signed a partnership deal with Eazy E to form Ruthless Records, and used his connections (he had been managing successful musicians as far back as the 70s and 60s) in the music industry to push N.W.A's music to nationwide status in the U.S.

Eazy E, Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, MC Ren, and DJ Yella (members of N.W.A) were talented and already popping on the West Coast before Heller came along, but you can't dispute the fact that Jerry Heller was the catalyst that got them big time success.

Yea, the financial misunderstanding caused by Eazy E and Jerry Heller on one side and the rest of the crew on the other caused the group to breakup, but at least the group was. And because the group was, it gave the other members (Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, etc) the needed platform to pursue their solo careers. So, this man in one way or the other is instrumental to us having the Bone Thungz N Harmony's, the Snoop's, Mac 10, Game, 50 Cent, Eminem.

Rest in peace Jerry Heller.
