Some hip Hop Facts You Might Not Know

Ladies and Gents...boys and girls, get ready to be edutained once again. I'm sorry, that is not actually a grammatically correct word, but I really like using it, cos that's what I do...I edutain...educate and entertain. I do this every Saturday, and i'm always excited to put this up. Below are 7 Hip Hop facts you might not know.








7.  Nelly's debut album, Country Grammar was released in the year 2000, and went on to sell 8.4 million copies in the U.S alone. It is in the top 10 selling rap albums of all time list. And, on December 11 2009, Billboard ranked Nelly the number 3 top artist of the decade, with a cumulative albums sales of over 21 million copies in the U.S alone.






6.  Dr. Dre started out with the World Class Wrecking Crew back in 1984...he has been in the Hip Hop scene for a total of 29 years.





5.  Nas featured Lauryn Hill on the breakout single for his second album, titled If Ruled The World. The Fugees (Wyclef, Praz and Lauryn Hill) and Nas were signed to Columbia Records in the mid 90s. They started out opening for Nas at concerts, and then when they blew up, Nas started opening for them. At the time when the If I Rule the World video was to be shot, Lauryn was touring with Fugees in Europe, but because of past working relationships, she flew the Concorde down just for the video shoot.


4.  Nas's debut album, Illmatic (1994) didn't go platinum till 2001, after he released Stillmatic.



3.  This year marks 20 years of Fat Joe as a studio album releasing rapper. He released his first album, Represent in 1993, and has released 10 studio albums since then; with the last one being 2010's The Darkside Vol. 1.



2.  Female rap legend, Foxy Brown lost her hearing abilities one faithful morning in May of 2005. She woke up, and was completely deaf. She remained deaf from May 2005, till June 2006.






1.  Timbaland and Pharell Williams attended the same high-school back in the 80s and have been friends ever since.
