Jay-Z And Nas Arguement on Rhythym 93.7 fm

There was an arguement of who is a better rapper on rhythym 93.7 fm, a radio station here in Ngeria. The arguemnt started this morning when the radio dj, Dj Humility and a lady host said Jay-Z was a better rapper than Nas. The main radio host, Bigtyme was against this, and so the arguement started. This lead to nas and jay-z songs being played, and listenners calling in to give their opinion.

The only two guys that called in went for nas,but the text messages were more or less a 50/50 thing. And the host went over to their twitter page, and nas clearly had more votes, so he crowned Nas the winner. This kind of reminder me of 9 years ago when Hot 97 in New York(u.s.a) did something like this and nas won- having 52% while jay had 48%. It always surprises me when nas wins stuff like this because, skills aside, it is very clear that jay is more popular on radio, so i just wonder why nas always win.

For the record, i think Nas is a better rapper, but i respect Jay-Z as a rapper- i respect his achievments in the music industry.

Before i go, i would like to correct a notion that a lot of people have about nas; the main thing the lady host could use as a pointer for her picking jay over nas was that he was richer, he has on oprah he is meeting with obama...blah blah blah; i think this are incredible achievments, but that is not rap. And from my research, i found out nas turned out a lot of ads, and anything related to putting him more in the media eye. It is very clear that they have different priorities, but when it comes to the real rap thingy, then i think nas is more rooted in rap. And the funny thing is that jay said a lot in his music before he blew up that he was a fan of nas's music, and he even recently put nas's name in his list of favorite rappers of all time.

This conclusion does not take anything away from jay's achievments, but it is just stating a fact.

I would really like to hear your opinions on this one. What ever it is, i would appreciate a healthy arguement.
