THE SIMILARITIES BETWEEN THE RUGGEDMAN AND MODENINE BEEF, AND THE JAY-Z AND NAS BEEF.

In 2001, jay-z and nas, the greatest rappers of that time, had a beef, a lyrical battle for supremacy. And one can say they were both worthy opponents of each other. In the Nigerian rap/hip hop scene, there has been a lot of arguement that has been going on for years on who is a better emcee, modenine or ruggedman. There has also been a lot of subliminal lines thrown from both rappers at themselves. But recently, the beef has become public. I want to point out some similarities between these two beef situations. I am not going to say who is more of nas, or who is more of jay-z in the beef, i am just going to point out some striking similarities between the beefs.
In the middle of 2001, jay-z first perfomed the first version of "take over" which was originally directed at moob deep(duo rappers from queens new york.), but at the end of the track he had one line for nas, "ask nas, he don't want it with hov". In the rugged man and modenine beef, mode did a track with banky w, which he throws some subliminal lines at rugged, saying, "if i diss a baba, i aint talking ethiopia".That was directed at rugged, because everybody knows his alias is ruggedy baba.
Then going back to the jay-z and nas beef, nas replies jay-z within weeks with the diss track called "stillmatic, where he uses one of rakims beats and raps, "h to izzo, m to the izzo, for shizzle you rap version of sisquo". Then in the nigerian scene, rugged drops a diss track called banging where he features lord of ajasa throwing lines at mode.
Back to the jay-z nas issue, after jay hears the stillmatic track, he goes and completes take over with a verse at nas, accusing nas of falling off after illnmatic, and he includes it in his new album, then, called blueprint. When people heard the track, they all concluded that nas could not come back from this, and that jay had ended his career. Blueprint dropped in sept, and it took nas till december before he replied with ether and the rest is history. Back to the nigerian scene, mode dropped death blow part 1, and everybody has concluded that rugged's carrer is over, but remember that he is planning to drop his album very soon, so lets wait and see what rugged has in stock for us
