I remember reading some time ago where Fat Joe spoke about when duo producers Cool & Dre just started making beats, and when he found out how much they charged, he said it was too small, and gave them about 5 times the amount, and made sure he shouted out their name on all the songs they made for him. And in no time, they were a house hold name. He might not be in the forefront of Hip Hop right now, but the number of hip hop artists Fat Joe has helped come up is very surprising.
He was recently in Hong Kong to perform, and during an interview over there, the interviewer said he thinks Fat Joe's rap career is like a roller coaster ride, and Joey Crack couldn't agree more. But he said he is grateful for the successful years he has had in the music industry, and all the people he has helped.
"To have so many years in the rap industry and so many number one songs, and sold so many millions of records, introduced the world to people like Cool & Dre, DJ Khaled, Pitbull, Rick Ross, Trick Daddy, Remy Ma, Big Pun, Rico Love… I could go on and on. Having been able to influence the rap game for so long is very important to me." (SCMP)
