First Week Sales Prediction of Meek Mill's Dreamchasers 4

It is finally here. The fourth installment in Meek Mill's mixtape series is here. Dreamchasers 4 dropped about an hour ago. This is a little bit more than just a mixtape, cos even though it is available for free streaming on places like Datpiff.com, it is also sold on Apple's iTunes. This is a commercial mixtape and I am going to predict what it would sell in its first week in stores.

Meek Mill got a strong buzz going right now cos of all the beefing...whether it is with Game, with Drake, or with Beanie Sigel. A lot of his fans are counting on him to hit back with a great album, and his haters are also ironically checking for him too, so the whole situation is a win-win. People are actually going to treat this like an album, so I feel it would sell pretty decent for a mixtape. The surprise release will really help the sales. He is even currently trending on Twitter, and I have read nothing but good things about the mixtape album so far. I predict it would sell between 60-75k first week.

What do you guys think?

  2. That's technically impossible. This is a freaking mixtape, and I don't think it has any physical copies...just digital.

  4. That's impossible. If it would go gold first week, there would already be signs right now...like he probably would have sold 150k copies of the album first day, and hits daily double would have carried the news. I still stand on my prediction...It would sell 60-75k first week...plus or minus.

  5. You stuck in the past bruh. Drake just did like 1 million in one night pure digital. 60k pure digital is light work. Meek gonna do at least double that tho 120-135k

    1. Dude, Drake didn't do 0ne million in one night...it was one million in a week. And, Meek Mill ain't no Drake. Anyway, we will know what's up by the end of the week.

  7. I'd say 70-80k in sales, 105-115k with streams. Meek mill has a loyal fanbase going for him, especially when it comes to the DC mixtapes. I think the streams will definitely push his numbers, potentially even higher than my prediction. I just don't think anyone other than Drake, Kanye, Jay, Kendrick, Nicki and J.Cole has the potential to move over 150k units nowadays. Plus its kinda difficult to estimate because there was no real promotion involved and he had a rough ass year. Like... almost Ja Rule level of rough.

  8. Everyone who I spoke with has him at 60-80k I can tell some are just fans and want him to do well which it's nothing wrong with that but you have to remember he kind of shot himself in the foot by offering the album for free.

    1. Yea, it would probably sell between 60-80k...plus or minus. About the album being for free...are you sure about that? You can stream it for free on sites like Datpiff.com, but you can't download it for free.

  9. He might hit 100k first week, but I don't see it selling 200k first week. Let's do the math...1,500 streams counts for one album sale. So, let's say the album is streamed 100,000,000 times this week, that would be 100,000,000 divided by 1,500, which equals 66,666 equivalent album sales from streaming. Then maybe add about 40k in pure sales from iTunes...and he might hit 100k first week.

  10. He not selling more than Jeezy. Hits daily predict 45-50k. He might hit 60k if he get some extra streams. You can't mess up your own reputation for no reason then release a generic album where every track sounds like everything out and expect to sell lol

  11. Over the years, I have always used the traffic I get from posts like this to determine how much of a buzz an artist or an album has. Dude, this album has a crazier buzz than Jeezy's Trap or Die 3 right now. I wrote first week predictions for the two, and while the post for Jeezy gets about 200 views a day, the one for Meek has been getting at least a thousand views daily since I wrote it Friday last week. But well, all those people searching for it might just be fans who didn't buy Dreamchasers 4, but streamed it for free. So, I am still going with my earlier prediction of 60-75k first week.

  12. Kayode that makes sense but I think it's safe to say there are different types of buzz. Meek mill to me really just has that regular "trap rapper" buzz. He is like the biggest trap rapper out now next to future. People know he doesn't release high quality music like say Eminem. You will hear a lot about it online and stuff but people aren't going to spend money on it unless there is millions of dollars in marketing and major cosines (drake, Nicky minaj, Chris brown). He actually only sold 44k. if there were hard copies he might have sold 60k. Jeezy sold 71k

  13. The numbers are in...Meek Mill sold 83k first week of his Dreamchasers 4 mixtape. And Young Jeezy sold 87k copies first week of his Trap or Die 3 album.
