Watch The Throne 2nd Week At Top- Rap Albums On The Billboard Chart

There was no big artist release last week, so it is not a surprise that Kanye West and Jay-Z's Watch The Throne album is retaining the number one spot for the second week running. But, sure it can't do that a third time...Game's The R.E.D album would definitely top them next week. Watch The throne sold 177,000 copies this week, to total at 613,000 copies after 2 weeks. They went Gold in 2 weeks- that is not bad at all for this climate.

Hell: The Sequel from Bad Meets Evil (collabo of Royce Da 5'9 and Eminem) is up next, selling 19,000 copies this week. The EP is now at a total of 463,000 copies. Ace Hood's Blood, Sweat & Tears album sold 10,000 copies this week, and has sold a total of 37,000 copies after 2 weeks.

The Collabo Album from Gucci Mane and Waka Flocka, Ferrari Boyz sold 6,900 copies, and is now at a total of 24,000 copies. DJ Khaled's We the Best Forever album sold 6,700 copies, and is now at a total of 104,000 copies. It is funny that the lead single of this album, I'm On One has already sold a million copies, but DJ Khaled would be lucky to make it to 200k sold of the full album.

Royce Da 5'9 appears a second time on the charts, but on his own this time. His Success Is Certain album sold 4,700 copies, to bring the total of the album after 2 weeks to 21,000 copies sold. Slaine, a new latin rapper debuts on the chart this week with his A World With No Skies 2.0 album, which sold 2,500 copies.

That's it folks! Till next week, when we would see what Game's R.E.D album would do after one week out. It would definitely be at the top, but the question is howmany hundred thousands of copies it would sell.

Watch The Throne At The Top- Rap Albums On The Billboard Charts

I predicted Watch The Throne would sell between 130-200k first week, people would say i was wrong, but technically speaking, i am not far from the truth. Kanye West and Jay-Z's Watch The Throne album sold 436,000 copies in its first week out. Thanks to the album not leaking at all, (first rap album to achieve that after a very long while) it was able to sell 290,000 copies off iTunes. What that means is that it only sold 146,000 pysical copies in its first week. So, you see that i am right in a way.


Ace Hood's Blood, Sweat & Tears also debuted last week, and it sold 26,000 copies after one week in stores. Ace Hood is not as big an artist as Kanye and Jay, and he doesn't have that crazy marketing machine behind him, but don't let the gap between his album sales and Watch The Throne fool you- his album is really dope.

Hell: The Sequel from Bad Meets Evil (Eminem and Royce Da 5'9) sold 23,000 copies this week, bringing the total to 444,000 copies total. As i said, i still see this album going Platinum by the end of the year. But if i am to compare this collabo album with Watch The Throne, i would say Kanye and Jay-Z did a better job...it is evident that jay and kanye took their project more seriously.

Another collabo album is up next- Gucci Mane and Waka Flocka Flame dropped their Ferrari Boys album last week, and it did 17,000 copies after one week in stores. I don't really listen to their type of music, so i can't tell you anything about the album.

Royce Da 5'9 is on the chart twice this week, as his Success Is Certain album debuts this week with 16,000 copies sold after one week. The album was dropped on an indie label, so he gets majority of the money off the sales- that's looking good.

Big Sean's Almost Famous album sold 11,000 copies this week, to bring his total to 182,000 copies total of his debut album. Kanye West is also back on the charts this week selling 3,900 copies of his My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy album, bringing the total to 1,191,000. Wu-Tang's Legendary Weapons sold 2,500 copies this week, and now totals at 16,000 copies so far. Tyler, The Creator's Goblin album sold 2,400 copies, and now totals at 102,000 copies.

Kanye West and Jay-Z's Watch The Throne album has broken an iTune record to become the album with...

According to reports, the LP has become the highest selling album in the store's history for first-week sales, moving about 290,000 copies to break Coldplay's previous record with 2008's Viva La Vida, which sold 155,000 copies.

This album didn't leak, so i guess that helped it in getting so much albums sold digitally. I think other artists should try this. Of course, that those not take away the fact that it is a GREAT album, and Kanye West and Jay-Z both have a huge follower-ship...please, this has nothing to do with Illuminati.

First Week Sales Projection Of Watch The Throne Increases

I feel bad every-time i think of my own prediction of what this album was going to do; i guess i wasn't staying in touch enough and didn't know that the particular project which was once just an EP idea had gone on to be a full length album. Earlier this week, hitsdailydouble.com projected Watch The Throne, the collabo album from Jay-Z zand Kanye West would sell between 400-450, but that has changed now. Read more below-

The Roc-a-Fella/Roc Nation hip-hop icons' Watch the Throne album is set for a #1 debut with anywhere from 500-550k, the second-largest first-week sales of the year next to Lady Gaga. Veteran Roadrunner Orlando heavy metal rockers Trivium's fifth studio album, In Waves, its first since 2008's Shogun, will debut with 20-25k, the same total expected for Def Jam/IDJ rapper Ace Hood, inked to DJ Khaled's We the Best Music Group label, on his third studio album, Blood, Sweat & Tears. Asylum/WB's Atlanta-based Gucci Mane & Waka Flocka Flame are next up with an estimated total of 15-18k for their Southern-drenched collab, Ferrari Boyz. (HITS Daily Double)

I have the album, and i think it is the best rap album i have heard this year...up there with Lupe Fiasco's Lasers album.

Watch The Throne First Week Sales Projection

Okay, i got to admit it, i underestimated the power of Jay-Z and Kanye West to sell records, and i earlier predicted between 130- 200k. But, hitsdailydouble.com have come forward with a projection from first day sales.

Jay-Z and Kanye West's Roc-a-Fella/Def Jam/Roc Nation release Watch the Throne hit iTunes last night for a four-day exclusive, and predictably, the deluxe edition of the album and the regular are running 1-2 on the site. The physical version hits retail on Friday, with Best Buy the exclusive physical outlet for the deluxe edition, which includes four extra bonus tracks. In addition, it was the first major hip-hop release in memory to hit the market without a leak, perhaps due to its digital-only release up front. Early returns suggest that the album's first-week total on next Tuesday's chart will be right in line with the initial estimate of 400-450k. (HITS Daily Double)

I guess the fact that it didn't leak gave it a boost; but i still feel it is going to drop to like 350-375k.

Why Watch The Throne Didn't Leak

Yeah, if you are a fan of downloading music for free before the actual album drops, you would have noticed that Watch The Throne didn't leak. Watch The Throne, the collabo album from Jay-Z and Kanye West was officially dropped yesterday, Monday 8th of Aug.

"Kanye and Jay are just very tight with the music," he explained in an interview "Even so far as to where they've been, Kanye and Jay have been at every listening session, every event, that there has been and that's because they're holding that music so tight to them. There hasn't been [any] copies floating around the [Def Jam] office 'cause that shit is in a vault. They just took it back to the old school, man. With less than a week to go before Watch the Throne hits iTunes, don't expect any leaks. Those hoping to get their hands on Jay-Z and Kanye West's collaborative album early are in for disappointment. First Week Sales Prediction Of Watch The Throne

Today is Monday, Aug 8, and Watch the Throne, the collabo Album from Jay-Z and Kanye West drops today. I am going to attempt to predict what it does after one week in stores, just as i did with Royce Da 5'9 and Eminem's Bad Meets Evil EP. I was on point with that one, and i think i am going to do well with this as well.

I think i would just jump in and tell you what i think it would sell in the first week, then i would give reasons for why i think so as i go on. I think Watch The Throne, the Album from Kanye West and Jay-Z is going to sell between 130-200k copies in its first week in stores. Collabo albums don't do as well as if it is just each individual on his own. Check this- Jay-Z's Blueprint3(2009) album was his last, and it did 400,000 plus copies in its first week; Kanye's My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy (2010) also did 400,000 plus, so, expect the collabo album to do less than that.

Most times, instead of a collabo Album to have a double impact in sales, it always does pretty lower than both artist do in their solo careers. Examples are jay and r.kelly's best of both world albums, nas and damian marley's Distant Relatives album...fans of both artists are always skeptical about getting an album that isn't entirely about their favorite artist/rapper, so they end up not getting it.

So, that's my prediction. Lets wait one week to see how right i am. Or we don't have to wait so long- hitsdailydouble.com releases a projection of first week album sales using the first day sales weekly. Jay-Z Debunks Rumors Of Beef With Kanye West, And Speaks On Watch The Throne

There was a rumor flying around over the weekend that Jay-Z and Kanye West were beefing over some issue about Jay not wanting to spend money on their Watch The Throne concert/touring like Kanye wants. It all started when the two emcees performed separately at a recent concert, instead of doing a joint performance.

Below is the rumor about the rift between jay and kanye-


"Jay-Z can't deal with Kanye," an insider told Page Six. "Jay is a stone-cold businessman. He wants to recoup all of his money from Live Nation. But Kanye wants to upstage rock stars with a blowout show. He doesn't care about costs. He has a lot less to gain from the shows." West is expected to agree to the conditions of the tour next week, but the business brouhaha between the powerhouse artists might have affected their backstage relationship. (New York Post)

And this is what Jay had to say  about the whole issue at an impromptu interview with Angie Martinez-

“Kanye is a genius. I kind of want to spend a gazillion dollars,” he said, contradicting reports that Yeezy had no respect for the money aspect of their tour as The Throne. “I think they got it backwards, but it’s all good. I made it. I don’t really... I know that we doing something right now. When I woke up to all of that, I was like, oh yeah, we must be really hot right now. This is really happening. August 8th.”

Jay also goes deeper to admit that they sometimes yell at it each other while trying to get things done, but said it is really to bring out the best in themselves.

“Yes, we get on each other’s nerves. But that’s part of pushing each other. We push each other. The people that have a problem with Kanye or myself are people who are complacent in life. People don’t like to be pushed. It’s like annoying. It’s a thing when people are pushing you to be greater, and we push each other to be greater. So of course there are times when we’re in the studio and we’re yelling, but that’s about it. I would never disrespect that man. I have so much respect for him.”

Jay also answered angie's question on whether he was scared about how people would perceive the Watch The Throne EP from him and Kanye-

“I guess a bit after we started it, but I don’t look at it like that. When you make music, you’re against history, you’re against what’s current and you’re against past work. But as far as pressure of what it’s going to sound like, you try not to really let that affect you,” he said. “You have to have a bit of arrogance to say that this is going to be good.” 

Info on Watch The Throne- Nigerian Beat Maker (Don Jazzy) Makes Production List

Fresh information out now is that Kanye West and Jay-Z's Watch The Throne would drop on August 5th. About 2 weeks ago, the information was that it would not drop till July 2012, but now this. I don't know what is going on, i just keep the news coming. But, it should drop soon, since they had an album listening party 2 weeks ago. The part of the information that has me grinning right now is the fact that Nigerian Beat-maker, Don Jazzy contributes to the production of a track on the album. He and his artist, D Banj, got singed to Kanye's G.O.O.D Music label last month.

Yeah, there is good news, and there is bad news- which do you want to hear first? Did i hear you say bad news? Good news? Okay, after you here the good news the bad news wont feel that bad? Nah! I don't think so. Anyway, here i go- Due to some in-house issues at Def Jam, the Watch The Throne EP from Jay-Z and Kanye West has been pushed back all the way to next year. Read below-

The release date for Watch The Throne, Jay-Z and Kanye West's collaborative album has been released. According to the Def Jam website, the highly-anticipated LP will drop on July 6... 2012. Wow. That is much later than fans would have thought/wanted. Do you think it's a smart move for the two hip hop heavyweights, who were seen going "H.A.M." earlier today, to wait an entire year to release the project? Is this the real date? (College DJ)


Whoa! That is some bad news for all the Jay-Z and Kanye West fans that have been waiting on this album. If it were the first of April, i would consider this an April Fool's joke, but this is for real. This dudes are heavy-weights, why can't they do something about getting it out sooner? Maybe they want to dismantle it and start work on it all over again. Kanye just signed this incredible beat maker from Nigeria called Don Jazzy, i guess they want a little touch of the guys magic. Or, it might be industry bullshit. Whatever it is, i think next year July is too far away. People would have forgotten there is any EP like Watch The Throne by then.

News on Kanye West and Jay-Z's Watch The Throne Album

The world has been waiting a long while for the confirmed drop date of the Jay-Z and Kanye West collabo EP, Watch The Throne, and news just hit the net confirming when the fans would be able to get it. The two heavy weights hosted a listening session for the album on Thursday, July 7th, and the news is that the album would be dropping on August 2nd. They dropped a single from the album, H.A.M some time ago, but they have plans for shooting the video for another single. Beyonce, Jay-Z's wife recently dropped her album, 4, which is currently at the top of the Billboard Top 200 Album charts; i guess that's why they have decided to shoot the video to the single that she featured on. So, "Lift Off" featuring Beyonce is going to be the official first single from the album.

"Living So Italian" samples "Ave Maria," while "Otis Redding" opens with a Blade of Glory sample and back-and-forth lyrics between the two (via KanyeToThe.com). "Black on Black" focuses on intra-racial violence, while Hov expressed disappointment with "H.A.M." and said it wouldn't make the final cut of the album. "It's just so big and so much, you don't want that sh-- screaming in your house," he said. "If we don't make records that we like and represent the culture, we would be over."

Jay said that the version of the album he played was the "third iteration of the project" and that previous records were scrapped for "being too big and calculating." He also explained that he has already begun work on his next solo album, one of which features Frank Ocean - a connection made after he heard his Nostalgia, Ultra mixtape.

If jay said they have reshuffled the album three times, then i am sure it is going to be a dope album. I just think since its just like 9 tracks, you can't go wrong if you have been working this long. I was really disappointed with the Bad Meets Evil EP- I thought it being just a 9 tracker, that at least 90% of the tracks would be dope. But, i give that album a 7...or maybe a 6.5. There are songs that weren't meant to make the final cut. I am not saying there were not super dope songs up in there, but an album is as good as its weakest link.

Big Sean & J.Cole Share Their Opinion on Jay-Z & Kanye's "Watch The Throne" EP

It has been known for a while now that Jay-Z and Kanye West are working on a collabo EP (WATCH THE THRONE), and it has had a lot of people talking for a while. J.Cole, a signee to Jay-Z's ROC NATION label, and Big Sean, an artist under Kanye's G.O.O.D Music label have come forward to share what they think about the EP. Eminem and Royce Da 5'9 dropped their own EP about 3 weeks ago, but “Watch The Throne” had been in the works long before people started hearing about the Bad Meets Evil EP.

"Man, I was in the studio with Jay and Ye about a week ago," Sean told SOHH. "I heard some songs. It's gonna be good man, it's gonna be history. [Talib Kweli heard] 'Black Excellence.' To be honest, I think the most unexpected part is kind of out the way with 'H.A.M.' That was probably the most unexpected. That was probably the last kind of track I was expecting to hear from Jay and Ye but they definitely have some tricks up their sleeves. And they have some types of songs that you would think they might have. They really did a good job at covering all aspects, from the songs I've heard." (SOHH)



That's cool to hear, because i have also been waiting for this; an entire album with Kanye and Jay-Z is definitely going to show some creativity on another level. I have the “Bad Meets Evil” EP from royce and eminem, but there are some songs that are just pure album fillers on there. And i was thinking; they made 9 tracks, why couldn't they have just made it straight fire...it started off fire, then lost steam, and caught steam again, and lost steam at the end. So, i am hoping the 9 or 10 tracks from Jay and Kanye on “Watch The Throne” would be dope all through.

J.Cole is a guy to watch out for, and i wonder if he would be on this project. I think he needs more exposure. Right now, the world doesn’t want to listen, so they don't care about super lyricism, and that is what i am sure has caused a delay on the part of Cole dropping his debut album. Hmm! That's good to hear. This EP has been delayed for too long, so I guess it has to be "Fucking crazy!" There was a rumor that it would drop on the 4th of July, America's birthday, but news started circulating yesterday that it has been pushed back again. I feel, whatever the case, it would be out before the end of the month. I think there is a void that needs to filled in hip hop right now.

“Cyhi The Pynce”, a signee under Kanye's G.O.O.D Music label also weighed in on the EP-

"They are ready to go. Right now, all the music and everything is done," CyHi said in an interview. "But you know my guy -- we over here with [Kanye], so 'Ye is gonna add his last little pizzazz, and it's going to be ready for you guys soon...I don't know the business of the logistics of it -- Those are the bosses. You never know what they gonna do and how they gonna put it out. They might put it out yesterday." (MTV)
