50 Cent Questions Lil Wayne's Carter 4 First Week Sales

50 Cent recently said he wasn't buying that Lil Wayne's Carter 4 actually sold 960,000 copies in its first week in stores. He believes there is something shady in that-

When we mentioned Lil Wayne's Tha Carter IV almost selling a million albums in the first week, 50 let us know immediately that he wasn't buying the numbers. "To be honest with you, the Lil Wayne sales are a little suspect to me. Because it was trending 600,000 pieces that week. And they didn't do a million copies, it was like 900,000." In regards to Lil Wayne's Tha Carter III, which sold a million copies in the first week back in 2008, 50 gives Lil Wayne his props: "Tha Carter III was definitely hot. He did that." 50 Cent goes on to say: "Tha Carter III commanded that energy, but the last one that just came out, those numbers are funny." (Global Grind)

Well, what can i say. Anybody would have been surprised at the numbers just like 50 is, because really, the buzz wasn't that crazy. But what sold the album was the brand that Wayne had built through the years. The name Carter is already a brand, so if he decides to drop Carter 5 next year, it will still sell as much...maybe not as much, but huge.

I didn't know it was going to sell that much, until a couple of days after it dropped. The people that were being directed to my blog from google wanting to know what it would do in its first week were 8 times the people that checked on what Watch The Throne would do in its first week...at that point, i knew the album was going to sell like crazy. But even at that point, i still though it would do like 800k.

Carter 4 4th Week Sales

Carter 4 has been out 4 full weeks now, and this week it sold an impressive 84,000 copies. I think this is really impressive, because after selling 119,000 copies last week, i thought it would drop to like 50k this week. If it can continue at this rate, it would sell two million in no time.

Carter 4 is still the highest selling rap album on the billbord chart, and it is at number 5 on the overall billboard top 200 album chart. So far, Carter 4 has sold a total of 1,385,000 copies in 4 weeks.

Big Sean Congratulates Lil Wayne's Carter 4 Success

Big sean, at a recent interviews, commended and congratulated Lil Wayne on the commercial success of Tha Carter 4.

"God d*mn, you remember we were talking about how much Lil Wayne was going to sell," Sean said in an interview. "I ain't gonna lie, I thought he was going to sell [500,000]. He sold 964,000? Oh sh*t. Man. Congratulations Lil Wayne, you sh*tted on everybody again. Again...Congratulations to him. I think that's like beautiful. That's inspiring to me. I'm trying to sell a million the first week. Lil Wayne really worked his a** off for that. He's been going since he was 13 with the Hot Boys to the everything." (Rap-Up TV)

A lot of bloggers have been questioning the first week sales of carter 4...apparently, no one envisioned it would sell as much as it did...selling 964,000 first week in the climate of hip hop right now is massive success. People are saying the album is not as good as Game's R.E.D Album, and they are wondering why Game's album didn't sell as much as that. Well, what can i say- You get what you put into it. Wayne is one hard working individual, and i guess he got back what he put in.

Tha Carter 4 At Number 1: Rap Albums on The Billboard Charts

Yeah, it is finally here...the moment you have all been waiting for...to know howmany copies Carter 4 sold in its first week out. The figures i put up yesterday were a couple of tens of thousands of copies more, so i present my apologies to that effect. Carter 4 is the number one album in America this week...Carter 4 is number 1 on Billboard top 200 album charts and it sold 964,000 copies after one week in stores. Just 36,000 copies more and it would have done a million. But, i think we can still say it did a million.

Jay-Z and Kanye West are up next with their duo album, Watch The Throne, which sold 80,000 copies this week. Although there is a far margin between it and Lil Wayne's Carter 4, it should be considered that it has been on the charts for 4 weeks, and it dropped less than 20% in sales from last week. But, this would give Lil Wayne some bragging rights...because Jay-Z has always been known to pull that "numbers don't lie stunt" on rappers that test him on the mic. He can't say anything about that right now...what goes around comes around.

Game is up next, with more than 50% drop in his sales from last week's 98,000 debut. He sold 39, 000 copies this week...to now total at 137,000 copies in 2 weeks. Hmm! Can Game crack 500k with this type of sales? I am a big fan, and i love the R.E.D album, but i think he needs to do something about marketing fast. And one more thing, i think Game is Psychic. Read these lines from his Good Girls Go Bad track on R.E.D album- He on the top of the charts next to BeyoncĂ© Right under Kanye. It is funny that he is really under Kanye (kanye and jay), and next to beyonce (beyonce also sold exactly 39,000 copies this week...the same thing game sold.)

18,000 copies of Bad Meets Evil Ep, Hell: The Sequel sold through the week, and eminem and royce da 5'9 are now at a total of 499,000 copies sold. Let us just say 500k. I still see this album going Plat...just wait and see. By next week, i see the sales of the album rising to like 25- 30k, when people get into that Lighters video.

Goblin (Deluxe Edition) [Explicit]Tyler, The Creator's Goblin album sold 9,700 copies this week, and now totals at 118,000 copies. Cash Money artist, Glasses Malone's Beach Cruiser album dĂ©buts on the chart this week, with 2,700 copies sold after one week out. I guess this is evidence that gangsta rap nolonger sells...and the funny thing is that this album is pretty decent.

Slim Thug Presents Boss Hogg Outlawz- Serve and Collect Part 3 (Immahogg) sold 2,400 after one week out. People wont learn the basics. Why would you have a long unfriendly name for your album title...i guess that is why it sold so low. Make it simple for people to know what you are saying. I am sure some Slim Thug fans didn't get the album. I am a fan by the way...but i haven't seen a copy of the album in stores over here.
