Dr. Dre's Apology To All The Women He Has Abused

Aftermath Entertainment C.E.O, Dr. Dre has had a very violent past; from beating up female reporters at public functions, to giving his baby mama multiple black eyes through the time they were together. According to NY Times, below is an apology Dr. Dre issued to all the women he has hurt in the past. 

“Twenty-five years ago I was a young man drinking too much and in over my head with no real structure in my life. However, none of this is an excuse for what I did. I’ve been married for 19 years and every day I’m working to be a better man for my family, seeking guidance along the way. I’m doing everything I can so I never resemble that man again. I apologize to the women I’ve hurt. I deeply regret what I did and know that it has forever impacted all of our lives.” (NY Times)

I guess he had to do this after the world watched the N.W.A Biopic movie, and some more light was shed on his violent and reckless past life. Dre is in the corporate world now, dining with billionaires, and he sure doesn't want to fuck up his money. Good move by the good doc. 

Official First Week Sales of Dr. Dre's "Compton" Album

After a week in stores, Dr. Dre's latest album, Compton sold 294,000 copies. This is really good, although I thought it would sell at least half a million copies first week.

Album Review: Compton (Dr. Dre)

Dr. Dre finally released an album, after a decade of delay. It isn't Detox, but it is a Dre album. And you know Dre is known for banging beats, dope rhymes, and great production; you get all that on this album. Like any other Dre album, he has a lot of guest appearances, mostly from his proteges as usual. There are even a couple of songs he doesn't even appear on at all; this is not also new to a Dr. Dre album. The fact that it says at the bottom of the album cover "A Soundtrack by Dr. Dre" makes all the numerous guest appearances more acceptable.




On the album, you have new Dre proteges spitting fire, from King Mez, to John Connor, to Kendrick Lamar. You also have old Dre Proteges like Game, Eminem, and Snoop Dogg. I wonder why 50 Cent didn't make a guest appearance.

Suge Knight Says Kendrick Lamar and Game Got The Worst Deals in the Industry

I know Suge Knight doesn't like Dr. Dre, so maybe that explains his recent claims. During an interview on the Arsenio Hall show, he said Compton rappers, Kendrick Lamar and Game (Kendrick is signed to Aftermath, and Game came in the industry under Aftermath) have the worst deals in the industry.

"The deals are still messed up. I think it's unfair if you really look at it, if you look at Interscope, the two guys from Compton--Game, Kendrick Lamar--got two of the worst deals in the industry. And when you look at it, it's not so much the production company fault, but what people don't realize is that if you're on Universal, it's the ship. Then Interscope get they cut, then Aftermath get they cut, then G-Unit get they cut. Then the guy who really has Game signed, it was another production company, then it came to Game. The reality is there's more slavery now than ever." ("Arsenio")

Hmm! I know Game has always shouted out Suge Knight even though he was signed to Dre, so I don't think he would feel cool about this revelations from Suge. And about the deal, for the longest time, I have always wondered why Dr. Dre couldn't make his label a stand-alone label...or at least cut Jimmy Iovine out of the picture, and just sign directly to Universal. I guess all this was the reason why Game dropped his last two albums, RED (2011) and Jesus Piece (2012) pretty fast, with little promo. He just wanted to get out of the deal. Now, he has completed his 5 album contract, and is a free agent. On the side of Kendrick, that is even another story. He is signed to TDE, And TDE did a deal with Aftermath, and Aftermath is under Interscope, and Interscope is under Universal. Mehn! That is one long chain of middle men. I think Kendrick should just ride out the next couple of years with his deal, and then sign to a label with less middle men when his contract is due.
