Nowadays, when people want to disrespect and discredit new rappers, they just call them mumble rappers. Like when Eminem called Machine Gun Kelly a mumble rapper in Killshot, when in the real sense of what the word 'mumble' means, MGK doesn't belong in that category.
In his recent interview on Power 105.1's The Breakfast Club show, Atlanta rapper, 21 Savage said he has a problem with people labeling him a mumble rapper. He was asked by one of the hosts of the show (Charlamagne the God) if the label, mumble rapper disturbs him, and he said...
"Hell yeah! Cos it be like...Rap is art men! At the end of the day. This is the thing to with the old nigga, new nigga shit. I don't really look at no nigga really as a old nigga. I look at you like, you got an old mindset. You know what I'm saying. Like...when Tupac came out right...I'll bet every dollar I own the generation before him was saying the same thing they were saying about us. You know what I'm saying. But now, he is a legend...Y'all be quick to jump down our throat."
