Charlamagne Speaks on Staying Calm During Interview with Birdman

A couple of months ago, Birdman went on The Breakfast Club show all angry at radio host, Charlamagne, and he kept repeating, 'put some respek on my name.' That phrase has become very popular since then. But what really caught my attention from that 2:30 seconds interview was the fact that Charlamagne was calm all through, even though Birdman was obviously angry at him and had come to the radio station with about half a dozen of his goons. So, why was Charlamage so calm? He answered it in an interview on VLAD TV.

Granted, this interview is about 4-5 months old, but I just saw it lately, and I thought it would be interesting to share it. VLAD himself asked him how come he was so calm, and he answered with...

"I'm the radio guy. You know what I'm saying. I'm not out here proclaiming to be a thug. Am not out here proclaiming to be a gangster. I ain't ever told nobody 'pull up on me, you gone see what's up...what's what.' You know. I'm a man at the end of the day. But go pull up on the guys that's being tough with you. Trick Daddy came to the Breakfast Club and said you don't know if you want to be a Blood or a Crip. You don't know whether you want to be a boyfriend or a girlfriend. Why run up on the radio guy?" I guess, at the end of the day, he is a man. And I am sure he knew Birdman wouldn't do anything on camera, and even if he did, Charlamagne sure has taken some beaten from haters before (which was recorded), and he thought this couldn't be worse, and would even get him more fame in the long run. These are my thoughts on the situation.

He speaks more on not being phased by Birdman's intimidation during the course of the interview...

"I loved it men! Stuff like that don't bother me in no way shape or form. I have a job to do, and I think I do my job pretty well. You know, everybody is always like, 'Yo, you didn't get rattled.' I'm like, what is there to get rattled about. I'm from Moncks Corner, South Carolina, like I've been in real situations. I've had...I've been sitting in the back seat of a car and have someone pull a gun on me, you know, holding the gun to me. It's like...you know what I did in that situation? Nothing. Just seat there like oh well, cos whatever is gonna happen is gonna happen. That's what you gotta realize about life. Whatever is going to happen is going to happen...in that moment. Whatever he had his mind made up to do he already had his mind made up to do it. And there was nothing I could do to diffuse that situation. You just have to become a part of that situation and wait for the reaction. That's it."  (VLAD TV Interview)
