J.Cole Dishes Out More Info on How His New Label( Dreamville) Came to Be

Although still signed under Jay Z's Roc Nation, J.Cole is the newest record label exec on the block, with his own label. J.Cole announced the birth of Dreamville last month, on his 29th birthday. The label already has two artist signed to it it, Bas and Omen, and it is under the umbrella of Interscope Records. In a recent interview with Billboard, J.Cole explains that when he was invited over by Joie Manda (an Exec at Interscope Records), he thought Manda wanted him to produce for an artist under Interscope.






“I thought he wanted me to produce someone over there and I was excited about that, but then he told me that he really believed in me as an executive, a label CEO and a producer. A DR, Dre to his Himmy Iovine. He had the vision.”








J.Cole already dropped a new mixtape (Revenge of the Dreamers), which is in line with the new developments in his career and it features the artists signed under his label- Bas and Omen. It has been downloaded 117,000 on datpiff already.
