9 Things You Might Not Know About Nas

Below are 9 things you might not know about Nas. Okay, I know I'm a Nas fan, but there are some things below I didn't know myself.

9.  His daughter Destiny is listed as Executive Producer on his Stillmatic album, so she can always receive Royalty checks from the album.

8.  Large Professor would bring a young Nas to the studio sessions during the making of Rakim and Eric B's "Let The Rhythm Hit 'EM".

7.  His record Advance was just $17,000 when he signed with Columbia Records in 1992.

6.  50 Cent was briefly in Nas's mid 90s Firm Crew (consisting Foxy Brown, AZ, Nature...and originally with Cormega, before he was removed from the group), but left when things didn't work out.

5.  Nas's 6th album, Godson was originally an all-out battle record with Nas dissing nearly every popular rapper at the time, but he reconsidered and scrapped all the songs.

4.  According to his baby mama (Carmen Bryant), Nas would all-of-a-sudden disappear: she once found him in his secret Long Island apartment with pages of rhymes everywhere.

3.  He was meant to be with his brother (Jungle) and Best Friend (Ill Will) the day Will was shot and killed, but had been busy upstairs. He heard the gunshots, ran downstairs, and held Ill Will in his arms as he took his last breath. Jungle had been shot in the leg.

2.  The first time he met Kelis was in 2002, at a party Diddy threw. He walked up to her and said- "I've been wanting to marry you all these years."

1.  He did Illmatic's N.Y State Of Mind in one take. What that means is that, he got into the boot, started spitting his verses, and didn't stop till he had done the whole song in one take. That's why at the beginning of the track, he says- "I don't know how to start this." DJ Premier decided to live it like that.
