Shyne Calls Kendrick Lamar's "Good Kid, M.A.A.D City" Album Trash

Former Bad Boy Records artist, Shyne says he thinks Kendrick Lamar's newly dropped debut album, "Good Kid, M.A.A.D City" is trash. Maybe I don't like one or two tracks on the album, but I think "trash" is a very harsh word to use as a description of the album. Anyway, check out what Shyne had to say below-

"I ain't starting no trouble. Listen, y'all live in the United States of America. We don't live in the United States of Aftermath, Jimmy Iovine doesn't pay me, I can say whatever I want," said Shyne. "I'm not talking reckless. I said the young boy got potential and I said he was talented, but the album is trash. That's tough love.
"What I said wasn't not nice, I didn't attack him as an individual, I didn't say anything disrespectful," he continued. "It's trash! I don't really listen to these rappers, but I heard him on a few joints and I was like, shorty's nice. ... So when he was coming out with an album, I was like, I'ma hear more of that."
Po went on to explain that he wasn't feeling the production on the project, and that he'd rather hear a spoken word album if that's the route he wanted to take. "Beats is trash, number one. And once your beats are trash, you're finished because you can't handle a good flow. I don't really want to hear what you gotta say. I'll go buy Dr. Cornel West's album if I want to hear someone talk."
He said that he felt a responsibility to be honest about his opinion because he didn't want Kendrick to drink his own Kool-Aid. "I feel bad for him because everybody's gassing him right now, everyone's on him. He on fire because of that Interscope machine, he's on fire because of that Dr. Dre machine. He's nice, but that's a lot of hype. All I'm saying is, to show y'all I'm not a hater, 50 [Cent] delivered. I never had nothing positive to say about him, but he delivered. He lived up to the hype." By the way, for the people that don't know who Shyne is; he was hot in the early 00s for sounding like Biggie, and being Puff Daddy's (Diddy's) new protege. He went to jail around 2001 for a gun charge, which occurred when he opened fire in a Manhattan club when things got hot during an argument with his boss (diddy) and another party...J Lo (Jennifer Lopez) was present at the scene. This incident left three people with gun inflicted wounds, and Shyne later got convicted on charges of attempted murder, assault, and reckless endangerment. He served 9 out of his 10 year sentence, from 2001-2009, before getting released, and then deported to his home country, Belize.

Back to Shyne's comment; I think he has been running his mouth since he got out of jail 3 years ago, and hasn't really done any legit work to make him relevant in the current music industry...except stories from his past. With that said, I think he is matured enough to relate his feelings in a diplomatic way. I too think GKMC isn't a classic, but I do think it is very dope...maybe if the back-seat freestyle song was off the album, and the dre Compton track was a bonus track, instead of a real track on the album, then I would rate it higher...but I would never call it trash. I think maybe Shyne isn't a fan of Kendrick's delivery and style... I can't think of anything else
