RAPPERS IN HIPOHOP, PAST PRESENT AND FUTURE.
In the 80's you had rakim, cool g rap,ll cool j, big daddy cane, krs one, mc shan, and the likes holding down hiphop. Then they slowly dissapeared in the 90's, and by the mid 90's they had left room for new hiphop cats like tupac, the whole wu-tang clan, ghost face killer, reakwon, method man,the lox, nas,jay-z,busta rhymes, biggie, redman..and the list goes on.
Later on in the late 90's, more rappers joined the roaster of artist doing hiphop, from dmx, to jarule, eminem, eve, fabolous, and so on.
Then in the early 2000's, a little more rappers surfaced, from lil flip, to t.i, 50 cent, the game, ludacris, young buck, young jeezy,....
What is going on right now is that, unlike the hiphop acts that were present in the 80's giving way for rappers in the 90's, that is how biggie, and tupac could be the biggest acts of that generation, but right now, all the rappers that were in the hiphop scene in the 90's are still around now, and struggling with the new rappers, instead of gracefully bowing out and letting the younger cats do their thing.
You have jay-z still dropping albums, you have busta rhymes still doing videos with the new rappers, you have even ll cool j that was rapping in the 80's still dropping albums, you have ghost face killer still dropping albums....
This reason is why there is so much arguement in the hiphop scene right now. The majority of cd buyers are teenagers, and what they are feeling right now is the souja boy type of music, or the gangster related persona rap like what t.i, young jeezy types give them. THEY DO NOT CARE MUCH ABOUT SKILL OR CONTENT. That is why the old rappers would keep complaing about the state of hiphop, but they need to know that it has evovled with time to what the new listeners want to hear.
In the 90,s when puff and mase were doing their thing with the flussing rap, a lot of older rappers were complaing too, but they got away with it. So maybe the old rappers should do them, and the new rappers like soulja boy, young berg AND BOW WOW should do them.
