Young Money rapper, and long time friend of Lil Wayne recently gave Jadakiss the crown of the most Underrated Rapper in the game. I think i can buy that, because i have been on jadakiss's music since my late teens and i have never heard him spit one wack verse. In fact, there was a time in the early 00s when i would go to the store to check out rap CDs, and would buy any albums that had jada on a guest appearance. I didn't want to know who the rapper was or if he was dope or not. For all i care, the rapper could be the wackest rapper in the universe, as long as he has jada on it, i am copping it. Till this day, he is second to Nas on my list of top 5 dead or alive.
Read the story below-
I would name Jadakiss for SOHH Underrated. He's the first rapper that comes to mind. I'm from the South but on some real sh*t, I was raised off what Jadakiss was saying. That's that era that I'm from right there, the Jadakiss era. Coming up, it was all about Jadakiss, The LOX, Beanie Sigel, State Property, all of that stuff is what helped mold me into what I am today.
I always thought he was in the top three best rappers of all time. I just feel like people respect him, a lot of artists respect him but he still doesn't get all of the respect he deserves in the rap game. So Jadakiss is always gonna be that underrated rapper to me.
The main thing I loved about Jadakiss was his voice. I just loved the way his voice would project [onto] a track. His flow, lyrics, everything about Jada's style was just sick to me. I could remember days when me and [Lil] Wayne would be riding around listening to him all day and the LOX album and we would just be like, "Man, this n*gga Jadakiss is stupid on this beat." He's one of the best.
This was back when we were young, about 17 years old. We would be riding around and thinking, "These dudes are sick." I wasn't even rapping at that time. I used to be like, "These dudes are sick" and me and Wayne would talk about these guys all day. He'll always be one of those underrated artists to me that the game just sleeps on.
Carl Lilly, better known by his stage name Gudda Gudda, is a rapper from San Jose, CA who moved to New Orleans when he was a baby. Double G met Lil Wayne when he was young and it was Wayne who encouraged Gudda to start rapping. He was also a part of the rap group called Sqad Up with fellow Young Money members Weezy and T-Streets.
WOW! It is wonderful hearing another jada fan admit to have been hooked to jada's raps from back in the days. And for him to say he and "lil wayne" used to ride around listening to jadakiss all day is really an honor to jada. I think the only problem jada has, and has always had is the problem with making a dope album. Don't get me wrong, he drops dope verses on his albums, but, sometimes, in a bid to make a commercially successful album, he usually gets it all wrong. From "kiss the game goodbye" (2001), to "kiss of death" (2004), to the "the last kiss" (2009); and i am saying this as a die-hard jadakiss fan. I have always told my friends that the other 2 members of his rap group, "sheek louch" and "styles p" make better rounded albums than him.
Jadakiss just does not have that formula to make commercially successful albums; but that don't mean he isn't still as dope as ever. I remember when 50 cent was selling millions on his albums, and he started the beef with jada back in 2005, some 50 cent fans were surprised at how jada ripped 50 into shreds. Some of them in my neighborhood initially told me that 50 would out-rap jada in the beef, and i just laughed.
