Tiny, real name, Tameka Harris is married to rapper, T.I, but she is also a superstar on her own. She was a member of the 90s r&b group, Xscape, and had a successful career- the group had three platinum selling albums to their name in the 90s. Tiny was one of the writers on TLC's 1999 smash hit song, No Scrubs, and during her recent interview on Hot 97 radio, she spoke about how that came about.
Read her words on this below...
"Me and Kandi was in the studio, writing for our own project at the time. We had a project that we were doing together, it was called KAT; for Kandi and Tiny. And umm we wrote this song and somehow I think Tony Mercedes...he took the song somehow to my guy, L.A Reid. And it went from there and they wanted the song, and I'm like, umm...so we were just trying to decide, do we give this song up, cos we feel like this could be a big song for us. But of course we made the right decision. We gave it up."
For those that don't know how big the song, No Scrubs was back in 1999, let me break it down for you. It was at the top of Billboard top 100 chart for four weeks straight when it was released in 1999, and stayed in the top 10 for 17 consecutive weeks. It was so big back then that a male rap group, Sporty Thievz had to make a rebuttal to it; their own song was titled, No Pigeons. As the TLC song was bashing deadbeat guys, Sporty Thievz had some negative things to say about women too.
