T.I Speaks On Deal With Columbia Records

T.I was an independent artist for a while after his deal with Atlantic Records expired early this year. He hasd been shopping his Grand Hustle label (which has artists like B.O.B and Killer Mike under it) to major labels all year, and he finally got a deal with Columbia Records. But as T.I has come out to clarify things, Columbia signed just him for his next project, his Grand Hustle label movement is still fully independent.

“Hustle Gang, man, we still independent,” said T.I. “They did a deal for the next T.I. project. Not to say that Hustle Gang is off the table because we felt like we had some partners at one time, but I think that since we made the move that we made for T.I.’s project, I don’t know if those partners of ours are still at the table. That’s still up for discussion, but as of right now Hustle Gang is still moving independent.” (hiphopdx.com)

I wish him all the best. I know he fought hard all year to get a major to sign him and his label for $50 to $60 million. I guess a deal for his next solo project aint bad...it will serve as a stepping stone for his whole umbrella.

Iggy Azalea Comments On Nas Dating Rumours

Nas was on tour with 2 Chanz and Iggy Azalea  a couple of weeks back, and there is a rumour out that Nas and Iggy are an item. In case you don't know her, Iggy Azalea is a female rapper who was formerly signed to T.I's Grand Hustle label. Read her words on the dating rumours below-

"I heard I was dating Nas, I heard I was dating T.I., I 'was' dating T.I. and I was dating Kanye West as well," Iggy sarcastically said in an interview. "And I posted a photo shopped picture of Drake so I was dating him too. The funny thing is I don't use any of their production or features. I'm good. ... No, I'm not dating Nas. That picture is from when we were on tour together and we were at an afterparty where we both got paid to be at and took a picture together. He is a good friend to me -- he's a really smart guy and he's taken a lot of risks in his career that people think are insane. I had a lot to talk about with him because I take a lot of risks as well." ("The Breakfast Club")

That's one thing about being a celebrity; you can't enjoy some private time. If something was eventually going to blossom between her friendship with Nas, her having to define who Nas is to her has ruined the natural law of things that could have been. Hope you got me there? lol!

T.I Recalls Signing Meek Mill

For those who don't know, Meek Mill was actually signed to T.I's Grand Hustle label earlier on in his career. He had to make the departure when T.I went to jail, and Rick Ross showed interest in signing him to MMG. In a recent interview, T.I spoke on how he feels about what could have been if he was able to keep Meek under his label.

"[Meek Mill and I] were together first [at Grand Hustle], and due to my set of circumstances that removed me from the free world, I had an inability to do anything for anyone around me at that time," he recalled. "He ran into a situation with [Rick] Ross and he felt like he could move right now, and if I can't match that situation, then far be it from me to stand in the middle of it and block it. I felt like, 'cus I knew when I came home, I knew I had things lined up and for me, it was going to be straight. But I can't make another man say, 'Okay, well, I know you're going to be straight, but what about me?' I felt like at the end of the day, if you think that [moving to MMG] is the best thing for you, I'm not going to stand in the way of that."
He added, "I'm happy for his success, I really am. Do I wish that I did not have to deal with it in that way, and do I wish that I had a greater involvement? Yeah, sometimes I do, but at the end of the day, I've got to deal with life as it is, not as I wish it was." (hiphopdx.com)
