T.I Speaks On Deal With Columbia Records

T.I was an independent artist for a while after his deal with Atlantic Records expired early this year. He hasd been shopping his Grand Hustle label (which has artists like B.O.B and Killer Mike under it) to major labels all year, and he finally got a deal with Columbia Records. But as T.I has come out to clarify things, Columbia signed just him for his next project, his Grand Hustle label movement is still fully independent.

“Hustle Gang, man, we still independent,” said T.I. “They did a deal for the next T.I. project. Not to say that Hustle Gang is off the table because we felt like we had some partners at one time, but I think that since we made the move that we made for T.I.’s project, I don’t know if those partners of ours are still at the table. That’s still up for discussion, but as of right now Hustle Gang is still moving independent.” (hiphopdx.com)

I wish him all the best. I know he fought hard all year to get a major to sign him and his label for $50 to $60 million. I guess a deal for his next solo project aint bad...it will serve as a stepping stone for his whole umbrella.
