T.I Wants to Bring Back Gangsta Rap

In the mid 2000's, T.I blew up doing Trap Music (Southern version of Gangsta Rap). The sub-genre of hip hop was still very popular at the time, and he enjoyed huge success. But the lifestyle he rapped about, which he also lived, got him in trouble in the late 2000's. He went to prison twice in the space of 4 years, and he came back and dropped his 8th album, Trouble Man- It was more of a an album detailing his troubles, but not celebrating his past gangsta life. He is currently not as popular as he once was, and I guess he has gotten bored with the direction his rap career is going, and has recently let the world know that his next rap album would be all GANGSTA! I don't know if that's a wise decision, being that he is all corporate now, with his TV show (Family Hustle) and all. But it's life, and he only got ONE.

below are his words on this, from excerpts of a recent interview he had with XXL Magazine.

"People forgot how fun gangster sh*t is. People forgot how exciting it is to really live on the dangerous side of life. Just people forgot the feeling that you got when you watchedBoyz In The Hood for the first time. Or when you heard All Eyez On Me for the first time. Right now, music is going in a different direction and it is in a different place. I salute and celebrate that path as well. However, there's a place for the story that needs to be told from our perspective."
