Wale's new album, Ambition drops in a couple of days, November 1st to be precise, and i want to attempt a prediction of the first week sales. His last album (Attention Deficit), which was also his first, sold 25,000 copies first week, i think this album would sell more.At the time, Wale said his label only shipped out 30,000 copies of the album, so for it to sell 25,000 copies of that in the first week is kinda impressive. He did have big singles for that album though- singles like "chillin" with Lady Gaga, and "World Tour" with Jazzmine Sullivan. His buzz now is not as big as it was back then, but he sure has built a fan base along the way.
He is now signed with Rick Ross's MMG Label, and they are buzzing right now, but Meek Mill has a bigger shine than he does. I would predict that Wale's Ambition album would sell between 40-70k copies first week. That's my prediction, let's see how i do with that.

ReplyDeleteUsing the views i am getting on this page as a mode of analysis, i would like to change my prediction of the album. I would say wale's ambition album would sell between 200-280k first week.

ReplyDeleteLOL wowwww. you know nothing about Wale. his buzz is a thousand times higher than it was for Attention Deficit. and Wale's fanbase is much larger than Meek's and much more supportive. I guarantee he doubled your estimate in the first half hour of sales. He should have around 400k in the first week. dude is international, if Ambition doesnt go platinum it'll definitely be close

ReplyDeleteYou are very right, i most confess that i have slept on his music for a while...i haven't really been following his career. And, about my comment on meek mill, i really meant mill was a bigger MMG artist right now, i didn't mean he was bigger than WALE.

And, i do think he can sell as much as he you say...it would be incredible though...i mean, selling more than his boss.
I am just happy for him...really happy.
The official first week sales projection just came in, and they put it at between 170-190k. I still feel he would make it to 200k though.
ReplyDeletethose are just estimates, and only based on store units. that doesnt include itunes sales and also the preorders from his website that were selling about a month ago
