Don Jazzy Launches New Label, Mavin Records; to Include, D Prince, Wande Coal, Tiwa Savage & Dr Sid

Having broken broken ties with former partner, D Banj, and more or less collapsing the Mo Hits label, Don Jazzy has just announced the beginning of a new era in his music career. The new label is called Marvin Records, and will include, Dr Sid, Wande Coal, Don Jazzy himself, D Prince, and Nigeria's princess of r&b, Tiwa Savage. I think the signing of Miss Savage would be the biggest surprise to people. I actually predicted this several weeks ago. I didn't predict Don Jazzy would sign Tiwa Savage, but that he would come back stronger than ever after the Mo Hits split.

So, now, D Banj is doing his international thing, and Don Jazzy is ready to continue his dominance with the Nigerian scene. With his incredible beat making and production skills, that wouldn't be too hard to achieve.

The multiple award winning producer also announced that Tiwa Savage would be joining the Mavin family.

The signing of Savage, one of Nigeria’s leading vocalists, is seen as a major coup for the budding record label and Don Jazzy promised fans that there are many more exciting faces to be “activated” by the label in the near future.

Don Jazzy, who broke away from his former Mo’hits partner D’banj has made effort to prove his competence to music lovers.

“I know that there are questions unanswered, mysteries unsolved and wounds to heal,” the producer said. “But I would really appreciate if we allow time to heal the wounds for us all instead of digging them up again.”

Don jazzy broke the news on a micro blog twitter to announce his new record label, according to him “‘Hey people. Need your help on this one once again. pls help me tell a friend to tell a friend. #MavinRecords God bless’

CEO of the new label has spent the last three weeks locked in the recording studio along with the fellow “Mavins” as they finalize plans for their debut compilation album, Solar Plexus, released 8th May.

The album has been a collaborative labor of love which has traversed five countries.

In the same vein as the previously released Curriculum Vitae by the Mo’Hits All Stars, Solar Plexus will exclusively showcase the musical talents of the Mavin Records crew.

The renowned sound mixer, James ‘LeRock’ Loughrey, was one of several international collaborators used in perfecting the sound of the album and has predicted that the album will be “huge.” Work is also at various stages for all the individual solo albums with release dates to be announced soon. I think this is great news. That's why i always say there is a positive outcome out of every human emotion, whether negative or not. Energy can neither be created nor destroyed, but can be transformed from one form to another. Don Jazzy is transmuting all the hurt from the the Mo Hits break-up, to his productive creativity. I know the group effort they are planning to drop tomorrow (May 8), Tuesday would be great. Don Jazzy already has a track with Tiwa Savage titled "without my heart" getting radio airplay, but i don't know if that would be included in the Solar Plexus album. And if what D Banj said about Don Jazzy bringing up the Mo Hit break-up plans since last year (2011) July, then Don Jazzy has definitely had this plan in his head for a while.

I wish them all the best, and would love the great music they would continue to bless Nigerians with. And i also wish D Banj world dominance with his music...i know that's his vision, and i am sure his energy will get him there.

Below is the full version of what Don Jazzy had to say about Mavin Records-

I see Mavin Records being the power house of Music in Africa in the shortest possible time. I know Rome wasn’t built in a day but with a lot of hard work, a good and God fearing team, our friends and fans, TV houses, radio stations, press, bloggers and most of all with God on our side, there is nothing we cannot achieve.

I definitely won’t forget my past because I wouldn’t be where I am today without it. I know there are questions unanswered, mysteries unsolved, wounds to heal but I would really appreciate if we allow time to heal the wounds for us all instead of digging them up again.
I love and respect the press and bloggers a lot and believe they will play a major role in healing our wounds and allow the forward movement. I would love to thank everyone that contributed in making Mohits records as successful as it got. We wouldn’t have done it without you all. The love and support you have given us thus far is definitely not in vain.  You all helped create international superstars and none of us will let you down.

It is going to be a very exciting journey from here. I can’t wait to show you guys all we have planned for you all. We have some other Mavins that are not activated yet still under construction that I’m positive you are going to love.
