Dave East Speaks on 'Surviving R. Kelly' Documentary

R. Kelly is currently on trial for a sexual molestation case...actually, ten counts aggravated criminal sexual abuse. It is unlikely that he would get off this clean without serving some years behind bars. Things all bubbled up from his past after a Lifetime docu-series (Surviving R. Kelly) about his past with women aired on TV in January. In a recent Dave East interview (The Bumbu Room), the New York rapper was asked what he felt about the Surviving R. Kelly docu-series and he said...

"Surviving R. Kelly. First of all, if there is a show or anything and people are surviving you, like just that off the top is crazy to me that that's what they titled it. And then I actually sat and watched it and I mean umm, I think he's sick. I think R. Kelly is a twisted, sick minded, nasty, perverted...I think he's different men! I don't know nobody like R. Kelly. You know what I'm saying. But, big fan of his music up until I seen it, you know what I mean. Cos I realized, all them songs that I loved was about little girls. Once I realized that like, Bump N' Grind ain't sound the same no more, none of his records sound the same no more. Nah, I ain't feeling R Kelly men! I ain't jacking R. Kelly. And I got a daughter, so I'm super not jacking R. Kelly at all."

We all were fans of R. Kelly's music till this documentary came out. Yes, they have been rumors, and cases he beat, but with this docu-series, there is just too much detailed information for the people involved to be lying. So sad. So are we gonna stop playing all his music? I mean, I never really was a fan of his sexualized songs, but I loved his motivational songs like I Believe I Can Fly, and World's Greatest. It is really going to be hard to never play those songs again.
