Checkout this picture of West Coast legends Ice Cube put up on Instagram two days ago. From left to right is...WC, Ice Cube, Beastmode, and E-40. I don't know who Beastmode is, but I know WC from back in the day as a member of the 90s rap trio, Westside Connection, which consisted of WC, Ice Cube, and Mack 10.

And E-40 is one of the most consistent rappers in Hip Hop history. He has been rapping professionally since the early 90s, and still releases albums till date.

R.I.P Jerry Heller

Former music manager/music label owner, Jerry Heller passed away at 75 years old yesterday. Cause of death? Heart attack.God bless his soul.

In case you don't know who he was, the man played a big part in the success of the legendary Hip Hop group, N.W.A (Niggas With Attitude). Back in 1987, he signed a partnership deal with Eazy E to form Ruthless Records, and used his connections (he had been managing successful musicians as far back as the 70s and 60s) in the music industry to push N.W.A's music to nationwide status in the U.S.

What's Your Take on The N.W.A Biopic Movie; Straight Outta Compton

I finally got to watch the N.W.A Biopic Movie, Straight Outta Compton yesterday, and I wasn't disappointed. With a budget of $28 million, the movie has already grossed $120 million in less than three weeks; that's more than 400% return on investment. It has been at the top of the box office chart two weeks straight. Nice!!! More money for Ice Cube's movie producing company, Cube Vision, which partnered with Legendary Pictures, New Line Cinemas, Crucial Films, and Broken Chair Flickz to make this movie.

Okay, enough of the money and technical talk, let's get to talking about the movie itself. I have to say this is one the best biopic movies of any musician (s) I have see. I guess because it is so raw and real. And it portrays the early lives of individuals that would go on to heavily influence the Hip Hop world. From Ice Cube turning his back on his group mates, because he felt cheated (he wrote most of Dre and Eazy's lyrics). To Eazy E going on to sign Bone Thugz N Harmony, one of the most successful rap groups ever. To Dre going to find snoop, Eminem, 50 Cent, Game, and now Kendrick Lamar. All of these have their roots in N.W.A being created by Dre, and Eazy E back in 1986-1987.

Straight Outta Compton Number One at Box Office

The Hip Hop biopic movie, Straight Outta Compton, which is about the lives of the individual members of the legendary rap group, NWA, is currently the number One movie in America. The movie was released last week, and is now sitting at the top of the Box Office chart, with $56 million earned from ticket sales.

"Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, F. Gary Gray and everyone else who was a part of the Straight Outta Compton biopic deserve a hefty round of applause. Not only did they take the story of one of hip-hop’s most prolific groups in history, N.W.A., to the big screen, they managed to rake in $56.1 million in the opening weekend, solidifying the number 1 spot!

I Can't Wait For the "Straight Outta Compton" Movie

Yea! I saw the Trailer for the movie yesterday, and I just can't wait for the movie to drop. I love Biopics, and this one has so many characters in one movie. In case you don't know, Straight Outta Compton is the Biopic movie about the raise to fame of the legendary rap group, NWA in the 80s. NWA consisted predominantly of the late Eazy E, MC Ren, Ice Cube, Dr. Dre, and The D.O.C.


I just can't wait. The movie is set to drop on August 14, 2015. Check out the "Straight Outta Compton" movie trailer below.

Ice Cube's Net Worth (2014)

Ice Cube (O'Shea Jackson) is a rapper/actor. He started out rapping in the mid 80s with the legendary rap group, NWA. He later left the group in the late 80s to start a solo career. After the success of his solo career, he made the transition into the movie world; producing and also staring in movies. He has been switching between the actor and rapper role for the last 20 years. His movie career happens to currently be more of a success than his career as a rapper. His latest project, which he served as a producer in, Role Along (staring himself and Kevin Hart) has grossed over $105 million at the box office in just 4 weeks. With a budget of $25 million, that is a huge success. He currently has a net worth of $120 million.

Ice Cube Speaks on Kanye West's Successful Career

Diddy recently launched his TV network, Revolt TV, and he has been getting a lot of rappers to do interviews for it. Their latest is an interview with legendary rapper/actor, Ice Cube. Kanye West recently celebrated the tenth anniversary of his debut album, College Dropout on February 10th, and the interviewers used that opportunity to ask Cube what he felt about Kanye's success.




"I think he carved out his own niche in Hip Hop. I think the style that he started, which a lot of us called it backpack rappin', it was underground. Kanye kind of brought it, to me, to a level where it was just as respected as any kind of Rap. He brought it from the underground and made it - not mainstream-mainstream, but mainstream Rap where it could hold its own up against Gangsta Rap, up against the Native Tongues, up against whatever style you want to talk about. I just think Kanye was the start of that niche right there."

Yea, that's very true. And thanks to Damon Dash and Jay Z for giving Ye that stamp of approval, or maybe he wouldn't have been accepted as he was/is. He was very creative, but his whole style was very different from what was in the mainstream at the time. The way that Rocafella stamp of approval helped Kanye out, could be compared to how Dr. Dre's cosign helped Eminem's career.

Ice Cube Makes It Big at Box Office This Week

The hip hop legend might no longer be in the forefront of rap music, but he is still caking up in another industry. Since Ice Cube started making the Friday series and enjoying the success of the movies, he hasn't looked back. So far, the movies in his production credit include the Friday movies, Are We There Yet, Lottery Ticket...and the list goes on. His most recent movie, Ride Along made it big over the weekend.

Ice Cube’s Ride Along film earned $47.8 million during the four-day Martin Luther King Day holiday weekend, making it the biggest opening during the holiday weekend in film history, according to variety.com. 

Ride Along posted $41.2 million in box office receipts in its first three days and $14.4 million in its first day of release Friday (January 17), variety.com reports.

Ride Along, which also stars Kevin Hart, is the #1 movie at the box office this weekend. 

Ride Along surpassed the previous Martin Luther King Day holiday weekend record-holder, 2008’s Cloverfield, which opened with $46.1 million. (hiphopdx.com)

The movie holds the current number One spot on the box office chart. I think this is a great achievement for Cube. The movie budget was $25 million; it means he and his partners made their investment back in less than a week. Nice. This is definitely better than rap money.

Rap Albums on The Billboard Charts

Yeah, it's that time of the week again, although a bit late this time, when i bring you the list of top selling rap albums on the Billboard Top 200 album charts.

Eminem is still killing it, although he is slowly dropping in sales, but his RECOVERY album still maintains it's position at thie top this week. I knew he would continue that reign with the release of his latest single- NO LOVE, featuring another top selling artist, LIL WAYNE.
Recovery, which is his 6th studio album, has sold a total of 2,768,000 copies in the U.S and over 4 million copies worldwide. This week, the album moved 52,000 copies.

Flockavelli, the debut album of newcomer, Wacka Flocka Flame, did not live up to expectation; selling 37,000 copies after 7 days in stores. I guess we can officially term him a ringtone rapper.

Lil Wayne's "i am not a human being" EP, which dropped last week as a digital only cd has totalled 133,000 copies, selling 23,000 copies this week. I think that is looking good, considering the fact that it is not a full lenght cd- not a mixtape, but more like a compilation of some songs he recorded before going to jail. I guess that is more money for CASH MONEY RECORDS C.E.O's- Brian "baby" Williams & Ronald "slim" Williams. I think you can say that it has been a CASH MONEY/YOUNG MONEY take-over for a while now. Wait till Nikki Minaj Drops next month, and then Tyga, and then Wayne drops his CARTER 4 when he comes home.
I am not a big Fan, but i guess they got the kids on LOCKDOWN for now, and i kinda respect their Hustle- Keep getting your money Holmes!!!

The Appeal; Georgia's Most Wanted, Gucci Mane's latest album sold 20,000 copies this week, bringing the total sales of the album to 80,000 copies. Why does this guy have to name all his albums about jail, or a court-related, i guess that is what keeps him going to jail. I can't get it with all these rap artist, they make a little money,and instead of living the Hood, and finding a better life, they want to be the Boss's of the hood, and there is no way you would not get into trouble with all that money, still living in the hood.
It is just parthetic; i heard T.I is heading back to Jail. I was feeling his vibe until 2008 when he went to jail, and he just broke that VIBE he had going for him.

Ice Cube's "i am the west" is not doing too well; it moved 8,400 copies this week, bringing the total to 31,000 copies. Wow! If Cube IS the west, that means the west is DEAD. I guess that lives GAME to revive it. I think the Game gives the west MOUTH TO MOUTH, anytime he drops his shit. I am not dissing Cube in no way, i still bump old NWA albums, and even though i never really had time to feel his solo albums, i know how successful they were, and the once or tiwce that i did listen, i Testified to Greatness, but i guess no one wants to listen to those old Gangstar stories anymore.
The only reason Snoop is still relevant is becuase he has gone POP- SO, please, to all the game haters, you got to give it to the kid. At least game's lat album, although it didn't go platinum, sold 239,000 copies in first week, and did a total of 800 copies in the U.S alone.
