Beanie Sigel Says He Might Have Just 23 Years Left to Live

Death is something most of us don't like to talk about or even think about, but Philadelphia rap legend, Beanie Sigel doesn't mind talking about it. In fact, he even specified that he might have just about 23 years left on Earth. Hmm!

There is an ongoing beef with the new face of Philly, Meek Mill, and the old rapper that put Philly on the map, Beanie Sigel. And during his recent interview on Tax Season, Sigel spoke on not having time for bullshitting cos he has limited time left on Earth.

R.I.P Jerry Heller

Former music manager/music label owner, Jerry Heller passed away at 75 years old yesterday. Cause of death? Heart attack.God bless his soul.

In case you don't know who he was, the man played a big part in the success of the legendary Hip Hop group, N.W.A (Niggas With Attitude). Back in 1987, he signed a partnership deal with Eazy E to form Ruthless Records, and used his connections (he had been managing successful musicians as far back as the 70s and 60s) in the music industry to push N.W.A's music to nationwide status in the U.S.

Celebrities React to Joan Rivers' Death

Actress/Comedian/TV Host, Joan Rivers passed away yesterday. She was 81 years old at time of death. The funny thing is that me and my friends were just talking about how she was 81 and still looked and had the energy of someone that was in her 60s. And then we went our separate ways, and had to call each other back up a few minutes later when we heard she had died. She was one woman I know that lived her life to the fullest, and didn't waste any minute of the life she was given.

Several celebrities have reacted to her death via Tweets, and I decided to put some of them together in this post.

Tupac's last Words

Tupac was shot dead in Las Vegas 18 years ago, and one of the cops that got to the scene of the shooting on time to catch Pac still in a conscious state has revealed his last words. Hmm! Very interesting. Read what the cop, Chris Carroll (an ex law enforcement officer) had to say about that night...

"So I'm looking at Tupac, and he's trying to yell back at Suge, and I'm asking him, 'Who shot you? What happened? Who did it?' And he was just kind of ignoring me. He was making eye contact with me here and there, but he's trying to yell at Suge. And I kept asking over and over, 'Who did this? Who shot you?' And he basically kept ignoring me. And then I saw in his face, in his movements, all of a sudden in the snap of a finger, he changed. And he went from struggling to speak, being non-cooperative, to an 'I'm at peace' type of thing. Just like that. He went from fighting to 'I can't do it.' And when he made that transition, he looked at me, and he's looking right in my eyes. And that's when I looked at him and said one more time, 'Who shot you?' "He looked at me and he took a breath to get the words out, and he opened his mouth, and I thought I was actually going to get some cooperation. And then the words came out: 'F*ck you.' "After that, he started gurgling and slipping out of consciousness. At that point, an ambulance showed up, and he went into unconsciousness." (Vegas Seven)

Hmm! And although he was alive for the next six days after that, Pac never regained consciousness. From shell casings on the scene, it was revealed that thirteen shots were fired from the Cadillac the shooters were riding in. Pac tried to get to the back seat after the assailant opened fire on their car, but he had the seat belt on and it restrained his movement. Pac got hit three times; once in the right hip, once in the right arm, and once in the chest. Suge was driving the car, and wasn't as much of a sitting duck target as Pac was (the shooter was on the right side of the car...Pac's side of the car), and a bullet grazed the back of Suge Knight's head.

Why did Tupac say 'Fuck You' to the police? Maybe he hated the law so much, or maybe he was vexed that the cop was obstructing him while he was trying to say something very important to Suge. OR, as there is a theory out there that Suge planned Pac's killing with the Las Vegas Police Department, he might have been trying to tell the police man that Suge was involved in the shooting, and was vexed that the cop didn't get him. For the record, Suge had a lot of dirty cops on his pay roll at the time.

Suge Knight Says Tupac Is Alive

Yes, Tupac is alive!!! I don't why no one ever says Biggie is still alive, but everyone always wants to believe Tupac is alive. Maybe cos Pac was such a FORCE. Anyway, TMZ cameras caught Suge Knight living a club yesterday, and he went on a crazy rant...and in between all that, he claimed that Tupac was still alive, and probably somewhere on an Island smoking a cigar.

"Why you think nobody got arrested if they said they the one that killed 2Pac? Because 2Pac not dead! If he was dead, they’d be arresting those dudes for murder. You know he somewhere smoking a cuban cigar on an island somewhere."

Hmm! I'm guessing Suge Knight was drunk or something...but then again, you never can tell...Pac might truly be alive.

Bushwick Bill Speaks on Being Dead For More Than 2 Hours

Bushwick Bill is one of the founding members of the legendary hip hop group, Ghetto Boys, and in a recent interview at SXSW, he detailed being dead for more than two hours. He had gotten into an argument with his girl, and she ended up shooting him in the left eye. He most have lost all consciousness at the time, as he was assumed dead when he was taken to the hospital. He...wait, let me let him tell the rest of the story.

“When I lost my eye I died on June 19, 1991 at approximately 4:35 and I didn’t come to until in the morgue after 7 o’clock. They were actually getting me ready for autopsy...I had to pee so bad I pulled out the catheter and I jumped down and the cop just stood there like this and I just peed. Then I realized what I was doing, ‘cause you gotta remember, I didn’t know I was dead. I just had the biggest urge to pee and I jumped down. Then of course he ran out of the room and the technician ran out of the room [of] the morgue. Yeah, it was a serious moment. I had the toe-tag on, I was in the morgue. Dead. They didn’t have me in the hallway, they didn’t have me inside of a room waiting to transfer me. I was actually on the cold slab, getting ready to be pushed in. The day before my surgery to remove the eye,” he said in response to a question about when the picture was taken.“

Hmm! Interesting. I wonder what causes stuff like that...I mean, people being dead (or assumed dead), and then coming back to life. I remember this man had been laying dead at my bus stop for at least a day, and an Ambulance came to pick him up, and just as one of the paramedic was wearing his gloves, to examine the man, the dead man turned around. Every body ran for their lives. lol!

For those that don't know about Ghetto Boys, the group, which consist of four members (Willie D, Scarface, Bushwick Bill, and DJ Ready Red) originated from Houston, Texas in the mid 80s. The most prominent member of the group till this day is Scarface, who is featured on the latest Rick Ross album, Mastermind (on a track called Blessing in Disguise).

Maker of AK-47 Rifle (Mikhail Kalashnikov) Dies at 94

Well, this is not hip hop news, but rap music has always had a lot of talk about AK-47 in it. I remember Sheek Louch rapping- 'I swing the AK accross my shoulder like a Louis bag' in one of his songs from the past, and definitely countless rap lyrics of gangsta sub-genre have a lot of gun-talk in them. So, I think it is only right I report this news. Mikhail Kalashnikov, the Russian that designed the legendary AK-47 died yesterday, December 23, at 94 years old. He died in the hospital yesterday after a prolonged illness.

Kalashnikov rose in the Russian military from a tank mechanic, to a tank commander, to a well celebrated Russian General. During World War 2, while he recovering at a military hospital from battle field injuries (between 1941-1942), he heard a lot of Soviet soldiers complaining about the countries official riffle and how it affected their shoulders. Being a mechanic/engineer, he decided to work on the problem. After a series of unaccepted gun prototypes, he designed the AK-47 in 1947...AK 47 standing for Avtomat Kalashnikova model 1947. It became the standard issue assault riffle of the Soviet Army. The weapon has gone on to sell more than 100 million pieces worldwide, and mostly used by African and Arab militants. Being very popular and used worldwide because of its simplicity and durability in rugged terrains. Also because of its relatively cheap production cost.

When asked how he feels about something associated with death and terrorism, he said- 'I invented it for the protection of the motherland. I have no regrets and have no responsibility for how politicians have used it...I am proud of my invention, but I am sad that it is used by terrorists.'

Breaking News: Nigerian Pop Sensation, Goldie Dead

What a sad story for Valentines Day. Nigerian Pop sensation, and reality TV star, Goldie passed away a couple of hours ago at Reddington Hospital, in Victoria Island, Lagos. What a sad news...so sad. She was so full of life the last couple of months, with her relationship, and her music and all that. The cause of death is not certain at the moment.

Read words from her friend's (Linda Ikeji) mouth-
I'm in shock. Just got a call from her best friend and my close friend, Denrele Edun. He told me Goldie died a few minutes ago in his arms at Reddington Hospital in Victoria Island. Goldie just came back from the US today he said, and was so full of life, then something went tragically wrong. Will get all the details from him in a bit, he was crying so much and had to switch off his phone. I'm shaking so bad. She and I had a conversation a few days ago while she was in the US. Oh dear Lord. Is this how people die? May her soul rest in peace..Amen. (lindaikeji.blogspot.com)

Did Hip Hop Ever Die

Really, did Hip Hop ever die? I know that Nas had an album titled Hip Hop Is Dead (2006); he had the whole campaign going at the time, and i agreed with him at the time. But, now that i look at it more objectively, i don't think Hip Hop ever died. Hip Hop has always been evovling and regions have been switching dominance, but I don't think it ever died. The state it was at in the mid 00s when Nas made that statement was far from what people that had been following it for the last two decades were used to, and they concluded that it was dieing or dead.

What is Hip Hop by the way? Hip Hop is a genre of music that was started in the 70s by a bunch of Afrcan American's that wanted to express themselves musically and artiscally without going with what was already in existance. So, they formed their own style/genre of music, and music as an art form always reflects the lives of the artists involved. So, Hip Hop consisted of the elements of Graffiti Writing, Beat-Boxing, Rapping/Emceeing and Break-dancing. Although most of this elements have been shedded since the inception of the genre in the 70s, the rapping/emceeing element remianed the core part of it.

Whether the rapper is making a politically conscious song, or a song for the ladies, or telling stories of gang banging in the hood, or showing off his wordplay skills,  or just having fun on the mic, he did it in the conventional rap pattern- 3 verses of 16 bars seperated with a hook or as the case may be. But, when in the mid 00s, the southern part of U.S had major dorminance of the hip hop market, and they hit the world with their "Snap Music",  a lot of hip hop pioneers weren't down with it. All the snapping of fingers, mumbling, howling and shouting and wissling on tracks; that wasn't what people saw as hip hop all the years before, so it was only normal that they would speak against it. But, can we say it wasn't hip hop?

It definitely was and is hip hop, because that was how the rappers pertuating that style chose to express themselves. It was the hip hop style of a certain region that got popular at the time. Either Nas's campaign got rid of it, or just like any other trend, people got tired of it after a while; but what is sure is that today's hip hop is back on track with what the pioneer started out with. Of cos the sound is different, but the pattern and techinques are still quite similar. In the late 80s and early 90s, the west had it on lock with their gangsta rap music; the mid and late 90s saw east coast take the batton (more of bragadocious rap than gangsta rap; the early 00s were the years of experimenting (you had eminem, nelly, ja rule at their peaks, and with very different styles from what hip hop listeners were used to), i guess this opened the gates for the south in the mid 00s. Of cos not all southern rappers were into the snap music thing; you had rappers from the south that did the trap-rap thing, but at that time, there were really more of those feel good music rappers out there.

Right now, if you ask me, no region has majority of the listening ear of hip hop music audience; You just have different diverse rappers from different parts of America, and some not even from the country, doing their thing. Of cos, some parts are a bit more prominent than the others, and you can say that the south still embrace their own people and give them all the support they can get, but no region holds dorminance right now. But what i can say is hip hop is in a good place. I think, regardless of what people might say of a Waka Flocka or a Chief Keef type of music, the Lupe Fiasco's and the J.Cole's are out there to balance things out. That is what i call Diversity, and it is needed in any system. Not everyone has the same taste; not everyone grew up the same way; not everyone likes the same things, so, with this, i say- Hip Hop Never Died.

Beastie Boys Adam Yauch Dead

I officially started listening to hip hop music in 1995, so you have to pardon me if i say i don't really know any music from the Beatise Boys. All i know is that they are the first white rap group, and were popular in the late 80s and early 90s. Breaking news out, and a rather sad one at that is that they just lost one of their members. Adam Yauch passed away this afternoon at 47.

Read the news below-

Multiple media outlets are reporting this afternoon that New York native and Beastie Boys member Adam Yauch has died at the age of 47. Yauch, also known as "MCA", had been in treatment for cancer. He was diagnosed in 2009 and was unable to attend The Beastie Boys induction to the Rock and Roll Hall of fame. Yauch along with Mike Diamond and Adam Horowitz formed the brooklyn group in 1979. They are known for songs including "Fight for your right to party" "No Sleep 'til Brooklyn" and "Sabotage." (New York 1)
Since 2009, the late group member had been undergoing cancer treatment.

Yauch sat out the Beastie Boys' induction to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in April, and his treatments delayed the release of the group's most recent album, "Hot Sauce Committee, Pt. 2." The Beastie Boys had not performed live since the summer of 2009, and Yauch's illness prevented the group from appearing in music videos for "Hot Sauce Committee, Pt. 2." (MSNBC)

MAY HIS SOUL REST IN PEACE!

Is Kim Dead

Is kim dead? Or, is Lil Kim Dead? Nope! Lil Kim is alive and healthy, and working on her new album. She hasn't really said anything about the allegations that have been flying all around the internet yet,  but the real issue was that the of North Korean Leader, Kim Jong The Second who passed over the weekend, and people misinterpreted the news as the rapper, Lil Kim being dead.

If you ask me, i would say the CIA got the guy. Call it conspiracy theory all you want, but i have seen to many movies, and read to many books to think his death was out of natural causes. He has been a threat to the west for a while now, and all of a sudden....Sorry, back to the real purpose of this post. Yeah, Lil Kim is still alive.  But, personally, i think people were teasing her with that being dead story. More like they were implying that her career was dead. I am a big fan of Kim's music, so i wont support that. But, i do have to admit that Nicki Minaj has the head female rap category on lock down right now. But you have to look at it this way. Kim has been doing her thing for 15 years, and still is relevant, so for her to even still be around is a big achievement.

This is Nicki's time...but Kim is not Dead. Anyway, read more on the news below-

Questions such as: "Is Lil Kim dead??" and "Lil Kim's dead? Is there any truth to this?" Yes, in the wake of the passing of Kim Jong Il, some Twitter users seemingly believe that the female rapper Lil' Kim had died instead. BuzzFeed has compiled a list of 25 such people. For the record, she did not. But we should have expected this sort of thing. Of course, a visit to a search engine could have cleared up any confusion, as it did for this person: "I searched online. You guys are wrong. Lil Kim's alive." Other Twitter users began referring to Kim Jong Il as Lil' Kim on the social network site, perhaps because of his size or as a sign of disrespect. (Mother Jones once compared the two figures.) (The Washington Post)

The Lil Kim death confusion reportedly stemmed from cultural critic N'Gai Croal.
Croal tweeted "RIP, Lil' Kim" after news of Jong Il's death emerged, prompting countless other to spread the rumor that the Brooklyn female rapper famous for "Lady Marmalade" had died. However, they must have missed the part where Croal tweeted an article announcing the death of Jong Il with the suspected flub. Shortly after, Lil' Kim became a trending topic on Twitter and other social media Web sites, with fans wondering if Kim had died. (International Business Times)
