Nas is Rich

I actually was meant to title this article "Nas Isn't Broke", but with "broke" in my title, it might come up in searches for "nas is broke". Plus, i just want to speak on why i think, or rather, why i know he is not broke. That would be hard, cos Nas is a very secretive guy. I guess that's the reason why a lot of people believe he is broke. And all these talk started with Kelis trying to get him for all he's worth. And then the IRS thing came up. I think that is where i should start. So, it hit the internet several months ago that Nas was Owing the IRS $6,000,000. People started saying Nas was broke...Nas is a Deadbeat and all that. I don't know why he didn't pay his taxes, maybe some issue with the lawyers, but he said he would definitely address that issue on his upcoming album- Life Is Good.

So, this is my theory; If Nas is a deadbeat, and the $6million he owes is from two years (i think 2009 & 2010), then have people stopped to think about how much he actually made in that period? Think about how much he most have made to have been able to be taxed that high. I don't know how the taxing system is in the States, but lets say 20% of his income goes to the government, that means he made $30 million dollars within those two years. I think that is great for a rapper that doesn't sell-out to stay relevant. Plus, Kelis (his ex-wife), told the world that the deal Nas made with Def Jam for his last album (Untitled) was in tune of $11 million. Okay, Nas came out to say it wasn't up to that, but was around $5 million. But, maybe he had to downplay it for some reason best known to him.

I did a lot of research to get how much this man makes, but it seems he is very secretive, because i came up with very little information. But what i did find out was that he gets between $300- $600k to do a show. The Angola show stint that got out of hand confirms this, cos he was meant to have been paid $300k for that one. Do the math, between 10-15 venues will surely clear that IRS debt. And i know he touched more than 30 spots touring with Damian Marley in 2010 after Distant Relatives dropped (the collabo album between the two), and they also touched approximately 29 spots in 2011. Dude is definitely in some demand of some such, and that translate to money.

Okay, as i said earlier, i found it hard to get any information concerning his investments and businesses, but i sure know he tours regularly, and most receive royalties from his albums. I also know he has had a Rolls Royce Phantom since 2003. He has cribs all over the country, and definitely living a good life. I am not saying he is the richest rapper, might not be in the top 10, but Nas is Rich. I would love comments from people that know more than i have written...Thank you in anticipation.

  1. Nas an intellegent rapper, in quite a few songs he raps about investing some of his money for rainy days. I am sure he has alot of money invested in offshore investments portfolios, domestic investments portfolios etc..
