What's up With D-Block

We Are the Streets
D-Block as a clique has been silent for a while now, and i am wondering what's going on. Of course they have not really ever been in the mainstream, but there was a time in the mid 00s they dominated the mixtape scene. I mean, there was a new mixtape from one of the crew members at any given time. Before they got a bunch of rappers on their team (they are dope rappers by the way), it was just Jadakiss, Sheek Louch and Styles P... yeah, and J-Hood (before he messed up). Styles, Jada and Sheek have been in a group since they first got signed (to puffy's bad boy records in 1996), and are known collectively as The L.O.X, but the D-Block thing was to be a movement, and a side label. J-Hood was a younger dude that had always hung around them, and they decided to put him on, but in 2007 (after being with them since 2001), he started a beef with the crew, and was caught dragging their D-Block chain on the flow (a video of it was put up on youtube) at some point.

His problem with them was that they had not put out his album as they promised. But they explained that he didn't have the right buzz to get an album out. And at that time, he had gotten on a radio show with 50 cent, and started hanging out with 50 a lot. It was 2006/2007, and that was around the time 50 cent was using his clout and money to divide and destroy all the cliques he had beef with. He did the same thing with the Diplomats. Bully has now taking the place that J-Hood had with styles, jadakiss and sheek.

I Love You (A Dedication To My Fans) The Mixtape [Explicit]Okay, before i get lost in all that retro news, i would like to get back to why i am writing this article, which is to give information on what's up with Styles P, Jadakiss and Sheek Louch. I have always loved this guys, and i think they are the best rap group to ever be. No disrespect to Wu Tang Clan fans, but this guys have been incredible for 15 years, and they are still relevant...at least to some point. Jadakiss just dropped a Mixtape a couple of months ago, and he sold 12,000 copies in the first week. This was a mixtape with not much promotion, and no video, just mixtape songs; so he must have some serious core fans. The Mixtape, I Love You: A Dedication to My Fans. He said he made for his female fans, but it still has some songs for the fellas on it.

Sheek Louch used to be the weakest member to me, until he dropped his solo effort in 2003, Walk Witt Me; after that album dropped, he became my best rapper, period! I am not talking best rapper from his crew, but my best rapper. Even my sister's knew who sheek louch was by the time i was shouting his name all over the house. After that, they started dropping mixtapes on the underground circuit, and they just owned that whole movement. They were super dope and not to be fucked with. Sheek has dropped 3 other albums after that- After Taxes, Silverback Gorilla, Life on D-Block and Donnie G: Don Gorilla.

Recently, the crew have been collectively trying to get out their third L.O.X album that is to be titled New L.O.X Order. Styles P is about to drop his 4th album, Master of Ceremonies. Sheek Louch is about to drop a collabo album with Ghostface Killa, which is to be titled Wu-Block. The concept was thought of when Sheek and Ghostface were on tour together in 2010; there are also going to be guest appearances from other members of D-Block and Wu Tang Clan.

I guess that's all the recent news of D-Block that is out there right now. I forgot to add that Styles released a book last year titled, Invincible: A Novel. I am still to read that, but i know, from listening to Styles rap, that the book would be worth the read. Jada is working on getting his 4th album (Top Five Dead or Alive) out, and i guess that is that for now.Invincible: A Novel
