Nas Talks about his Timeless Flow

I think Nas's flow/style of rhyming might sound simple to the ear, but it is a bit complex. I have heard real rappers analyze his style and say he is not orthodox with it, although it might seem so, rather he is really complex. And that is not in just his lyrics, but the way he places the words and ends each bar. My brother, with his little knowledge of hiphop, used to say that nas doesn't rhyme in his verses, but it is a "no-no" in hiphop rules not to rhyme, it is just that nas pays more attention to what he is actually saying than the rhyming.

Read what he has to say about people using his flow below-

"I like to stay doing me," Nas said. "I think the style is timeless. I hear it in a lot of people and it reminds me how timeless it is, the kind of style I do. And once I hit it, and it's right, it's golden. If I'm a little off with it? Ahh, I can't even listen to the song ever again. I'm just trying to perfect it so that it's right and it doesn't sound like I'm just doing something I [already] did. It feels fresh; like this is the first time I'm ever doing it." (MTV)

I think...hmm! what can i say about nas's style...i think he rides the beat in a way that can be fast and connect with the beat, but very audible- you hear everything he says. Like the HERO track on Untitled, that was a fast-flow track, not for one second off beat, and you could hear everything he was saying. I think that song is brilliant.
