A lot of people were surprised when they saw the tracklist of Kendrick Lamar's latest album (Damn), and saw that he had a song with Rihanna on it. People always relegate that kind of move to someone like Drake. Well, it would surprise a lot to know that Kendrick really does admire Rihanna, and loves what she represents.
During his yesterday interview with Zane Lowe on Beats 1, he was asked how the Rihanna collaboration came about, and he said...
“I love everything about her. Her artistry, how she represents women to not only be themselves but to express themselves the way she expresses herself through music, and how she carries herself. I love everything about her so I always wanted to work with her.”
That is exactly what I love about Rihanna too. She doesn't try to be proper for the camera or act like she is perfect. She does her, and if you like her, you like her, if you don't, well, don't pay her any attention. But can't dispute the fact that she is a hard-worker who consistently makes great music.
