Age the Greatest Rappers Released Their First Album

In this post, I would be listing some of the greatest rappers in rap music history and
how old they were when they released their debut albums.

Jay Z
One of the greatest rappers of all time. The rapper rappers like Drake, Kanye West, Lil Wayne, and a thousand other rappers want to be like. Although he had been in the game since the early 90s, Jay Z didn't release his first album, Reasonable Doubt till 1996, when he was 26 years old.

Eminem
One of the most skilled rappers on the mic, and the highest selling rapper ever, Eminem released his first album, The Slim Shady LP (1999) at the age of 26. I know a lot of people like to name Infinite as his first album, but back then when he came on the scene, no one knew about the album till many years later. It is at best an underground album.

Kanye West
Kanye dropped his first album, College Dropout back in 2004 when he was 26 years old.

Big Pun
The late great Big Punisher, the most lyrical Latino rapper to ever touch the mic released his first album, Capital Punishment at the age of 26 back in 1998. It's interesting how a lot of great rappers didn't make it till the ripe age of 26. They had to struggle for a while before gaining recognition. A lot other greats made it earlier, but it is interesting to know that a handful of them didn't make it early in life.

DMX
X had been in the game since 1991, and didn't drop his first album, It's Dark And Hell Is Hot till 1998, when he was 27 years old.

Rakim
The rapper a lot of greats like Jay Z, Big Pun, Biggie and Nas looked up; Rakim made it on the scene at quite a young age. His first album with Eric B, Paid in Full dropped in 1987, when Ra was 19.

Nas
One of the best rappers ever, Nas released his first album, Illmatic at 20 years old, back in 1994.

Biggie
A.K.A The Notorious B.I.G got in the game at the age of 22 when he dropped his debut album, Ready to Die back in 1994. It is quite unfortunate that he didn't make it to his 25th birthday before he was killed in cold blood.

Tupac
Another great rapper that had his life cut short at his prime was Tpuac Shakur. But the advantage Tupac had was that he started his rap career a little earlier and was a workaholic, so we have a lot of music from him. He dropped his first album, 2Pacalypse Now at the age of 20 years old back in 1991.

LL Cool J
Cool J is another rapper that started his rap career quite early. His first album, Radio was dropped back in 1985, when LL was just 17 years old.

Snoop Dogg
Snoop Doggy Dogg dropped his first album, Doggystle at the age of 22 back in 1993.
