So, I was just home alone that day, like I am most of the time; flicking through the local Nigerian stations as the DSTV subscription expired the day before, and I was too lazy to go down to their office. I think I had just sent Roseline a text to come over, as I had had a very hectic week, and I just wanted to relax. Then my buddie, Full-Effex hit me up on BBM with- 'What's up? When are you coming over?' I thought for a second to try and figure out what he was talking about, then I remembered. He had told me he was going to be at a video shoot with his friend, T.K.O at a venue close to my house, and I was like- 'O, shit! I had just sent that text to Rose.' Anyway, I sent her another text telling her something came up, and that we would see the next day.
A few minutes later, I was hopping on a bike heading down to the venue. Full Effex is actually a rapper signed to Royalty Records, and I helped him promote some of his mixtapes a couple of years ago on this blog. He is one of the dopest underground rappers I know- WORD! T.K.O got some shine like two years ago when he won the Nokia Don't Break The Beat rap contest. They are both in Uniben, rounding up their programs, but the Nationwide strike at the time had kept them home for a while too long. They decided to use the time wisely, so I was actually heading down for T.K.O's video shoot for a track titled- Undaunted. The picture on the left is actually of their rap group...The Gadz (Lato, T.K.O, and Full Effex)
I got there, and met everyone outside, about heading out somewhere. The video shoot was already over, and they were going down the road for some refreshments or so. I greeted everyone, and half a dozen guys started a walk down street. It was downhill, and I could see some rugged terrain down ahead. When we reached a point, and we had jump from one cliff to the other, and cross a dry canal; I had an idea what waited ahead. So, we finally got to the spot, on the other side of nowhere, and just like it was on cue, everyone laughed at what we had to do to get there. There were about three large trees, which acted as shade from the sun, and there were a couple of guys blowing the green under them. The guy that led our pack walked up to a skinny looking guy under one of the trees, spoke to him briefly, and the skinny guy went to work.
A couple of minutes later, or maybe hours later (its hard to tell when you are...), after a lot of trees had been burnt down, and TKO had entertained us with some funny gist of some A-List celebs in the Nigerian music industry, we saw this guy and a girl approaching. I mean, this girl looked like she was cut-out of a cosmopolitan magazine or something, and the guy with her was just so ordinary. The girl paid for their package, and they headed out. It was just an interesting sight to see...and form a lot of stories over. lol!
So, we headed back after a couple of hours, or minutes, i can't remember, and we stuck around for T.K.O's ride home to show up. We were there, talking about the Politician that had recently died, and how the plane taking his body to his hometown for his funeral had crashed. It was just so crazy...it was almost like the man had died twice. So, we were there, and I just blabbing away, and I looked at the guy next to me, and I'm like- 'O My God. DJ Zeez has been right beside me all this while.' Okay, maybe I wasn't like 'OMG', but it was just surprising how normal most of these celebrities can be in real life.
Just before dark, TKO's ride showed up, and everyone dispersed. Yea, that's my story. Just one of those random days in the life of Kay The Blogger. Haha!
