I'm Tired Of Saigon's Ranting

It's been a while since I got really personal with this blog, but it took Saigon's whining to get me to do that. For those that don't know, Saigon is a rapper that was signed to a major label for 4 years back in the mid 00s...but couldn't get his album to drop cos of creative differences. He finally dropped his debut album (The Greatest Story Ever Told) last year. Some critics have said it was the best hip hop album to drop in 2011. Well, views are subjective, and i can't really argue on that.

This write-up is not even based on his skills...I think he is a cool rapper, but let your work speak for itself. You don't have to go all out to bring people down cos your records are not selling, and theirs are. He just released his second album (The Greatest Story Ever Told Chapter 2) last week, and it sold just 2,800 copies first week. Now, that is really really low. I don't know if this is the reason why his ranting has intensified, but I just don't get this guy.

You talk about people having a bad influence on the kids with their lyrics, but your own lifestyle doesn't speak for what you are fighting for. I am not going to mention that he went to jail at some point, anyone can make a bad decision and end up in jail, but there are so many aspects of his life to pick from. Jay-Z is his idol, and we all know what Jay-Z speaks about- money, balling, money, expensive lifestyle, chics, and more money. So, what is Saigon attacking Rick Ross for? Rappers have had this type of lyrics in their songs since the 80s...this shit aint new. He says other rappers are giving a bad image to the black community, but he fought Prodigy and his clique in a club a couple of years back...he had words for Joe Budden and said he was going to beat him up when he saw him. He has been arrested for gun possession recently. I really don't get this dude.

And, I just read this tweet off his timeline a couple of hours ago-

"And I dont have any personal issues with anybody at all, I just say n*ggas names when I need a headline to draw attn to what Im saying..." (Saigon's Twitter)

What a sucker move. It says it all....if Saigon was getting attention with his music, he wouldn't be dong all the ranting. He has a lot of followers on the blogs and social media that support what he speaks about. But what this people don't understand is that HIP HOP CANNOT STAY THE SAME. That's their problem...they want everything to stay the way it was from back in the 90s or something, but that is not possible. Hip Hop isn't dead, it is just evolving. And I really don't know what the big deal is...people will listen to what they want to listen to. There is diversity in hip hop rightnow, and people can listen to what they want....and rappers can make the kind of music they want....it is a fucking free world. I think Saigon really needs to grow up. I am 32 by the way, and have been listening to hip hop since the mid 90s.

Check out some of Saigon's rant below-

"Ill be the sacrificial lamb.... But Im gonna wake some muthaf*ckas up.... Somebody gotta do it....," Sai tweeted November 14th.
"Its not about them 2 niggas. Them n*ggas is pawns in a grand scheme. I got a problem with ANYBODY who promotes destruction to our future.."
"Im tired of people telling me to hold my tongue or retract statements because its gonna hurt my career, Im not doing that sh*t no more..."

"That's behind me, you know what, if they don't change the message though, for real, I'm on a whole new beef, man," Sai said in an interview. "[Who would I want to punch right now?] Rick Ross. I want to punch everybody, man. Rick Ross, 2 Chainz, everybody who's putting detrimental music for children, man, because these companies market the music to children, and y'all know that. ... This [music] is marketed to children and we know that. I've got kids, man. I'm not trying to have to battle with my own kid because she's influenced by big booty [girl]. I did '106 & Park' the other day, and I was so sad to see these little young girls spitting the lyrics and some of the stuff that was coming out their mouths and they're 13 or 14, and they're talking about all of this. I'm like, 'God d*mn, yo, who's responsible for all this? ... It ain't just pin-pointing Rick Ross and 2 Chainz and them n*ggas, because everybody's doing it. Put them all on a dart board and throw the dart." ("The Breakfast Club")
