Every year (since 2007), MTV drops their list of the rappers
they consider the hottest in Hip Hop; it is tagged- Hottest MCs in
the Game. Last year, Kanye West was
at number 3 position, but he is down to number 7 this year, and he is not very
happy with MTV. Trust Kanye to air out his emotions...check out what he had to
say when he called into HOT 97 radio station yesterday-
“Yeah number 7 bothers me. I think that Wayne is the number
1 rapper in the world. Him and Jay and Em and certain people are trust, the
greatest rappers of all time. For me, I feel like in order for them to put me
at number 7, they had to bring up things like they didn’t like – like the Cruel
Summer album. And i’m like that’s a compilation, it ain’t all rappers on
G.O.O.D Music...they want to diss me and be like, ‘he ain’t a part of it
because he’s on eight records.’ Their decision is definitely not on a body of
work.”
Kanye already said
he has a Big Ego on that Beyonce song, so this shouldn't surprise anyone.
Personally, I think in 2013, the placement they gave him is just right. This
list is not about a body of work, it is about hottest in the game right now.
And Kanye’s last album was in 2010.
The Cruel Summer album was a group
compilation album, and although he was on most of the singles that dropped from
the album, he sure didn't have enough air time like some other rappers that had
albums last year, or early this year.

I guess Kanye is vexed cos Drake and Big Sean (a
rapper under his label) are above him on the list. I think I can guess the rappers at top 4. Rick Ross has been top 5
on the list since he got on there in 2008. He was number 1 last year, and he is
hot still, so he definitely will be in the top 4 this year. I know Kendrick Lamar would be up there too,
and if they still consider Nicki Minaj a rapper, she will be up there too. Yea,
Lil Wayne would definitely be there. We
will know tomorrow. There is definitely no where to squeeze Nas in, although he had a really good year in 2012. Oh! I forgot 2 Chainz...he definitely is top 4. Hmm!
That top 4 is really going to be a tough one to compile for the organizers.
Yea, and I want to say something- this is list is not about the most lyrical rappers, or your favourite rappers...it is about the hottest rappers in the game RIGHT NOW. I'm saying this cos I know how emotional people can get with lists like this.
