New York Writer Makes Racist Remarks About Jay-Z

In case you didn't know, rapper Jay-Z has some  percentage ownership of The New Jersey Nets NBA Team, and no matter how small the percentage might be, he can still make some decisions concerning the team. The latest decision he made was the white and black colour if their new uniform. This was what brought the hate from New York writer (phil mushnick), and made him make some racial remarks about Jay-Z...or was it? It probably comes from a deeper place.

Read what Phil Mushnick said about Jay's decision on how the New Jersey Nets uniform should look.

New York sportswriter is in hot water after writing that the Brooklyn Nets should change their name to the "New York Niggas" because they are co-owned by Jay-Z.

Phil Mushnick, who writes for the New York Post, has apparently been a long-time critic of the rapper's role in the franchise. In a Friday column, he trashed Jay-Z's choices for the team's new uniforms:

As long as the Nets are allowing Jay-Z to call their marketing shots -- what a shock that he chose black and white as the new team colors to stress, as the Nets explained, their new "urban" home -- why not have him apply the full Jay-Z treatment?

Why the Brooklyn Nets when they can be the New York Niggas? The cheerleaders could be the Brooklyn B----hes or Hoes. Team logo? A 9 mm with hollow-tip shell casings strewn beneath. Wanna be Jay-Z hip? Then go all the way!

Mushnick responded to the furore surrounding his column later on Friday. Writing to sports site Bob's Blitz, he said that there had been "obvious, wishful and ignorant mischaracterizations" of his words.

"Jay-Z profits from the worst and most sustaining self-enslaving stereotypes of black-American culture and I'M the racist?" he continued. "Some truths, I guess, are just hard to read, let alone think about." (huffingtonpost.com)

Hmm! He does make a point with the last sentence. The problem is that hip hop music is an easy target; it's hard to defend a genre of music that has its artists bragging about selling drugs, disrespecting women and calling them bitches, and just generally being a rebel to the society, and glorifying it...i still love Hip Hop though. lol! Although this man is coming from a "hate" angle with his comments, it is hard to defend Jay-Z here. Or what do you think?

Jay-Z is a black man from the Marcy projects in New York, who is now a multi millionaire, and on his way to becoming a Billionaire. I guess some bigwigs feel he can't be professional enough with his decisons. Or maybe they just feel he just doesn't belong there. Anyway, read about a little problem Jay's decision from last year cost the team.

From the entertainment section, Nets .0000004563% owner Jay-Z’s foolish decision to throw an after-party in the Kentucky Wildcats’ locker room (after that team had clinched its NCAA Final Four berth) led to a $50,000 fine levied against New Jersey on Friday by the NBA.

When reached by this blog for comment, Jay-Z replied “Whatever, yo. That’s like .0000004563% of what I make. In a day.” (knicks.lohunblogs.com).

I guess i can say that Jay-Z could have answered that question without going the arrogant way. It's small issues like this that make people grade all black people as irresponsible.
